Such moments have the power to leave enduring impressions that transcend time and location. This idea of a time being is one that Ozeki uses to emphasize the historical ties and influence of her characters. It also assists readers in recognizing the similarities between historical oppressive systems and the ways in which they can endure. Kandice Chuh also addresses the notion of applying anti-Western philosophies to better understand oneself in order to disassociate and dismantle contemporary structures that have the potential to damage and skew the perception of our shared humanity. Through Buddhist philosophy, Dogen Zenji's concept of a time being, and disidentification with demanding neoliberal structures, the novel's characters are able to discover new perspectives on life and develop a new sense of self that enables them to want to live. Ozeki finds ways to give her characters a stronger sense of self by drawing on Buddhist teachings. Through Zenji's teachings, Nao, her father, and great-uncle, find peace and consolation in worlds that are too focused on future comforts that can be destructive to the present self.

Artificial intelligence has an all-round impact on the world's productivity, and translation is the first area to be challenged. With the increasing accuracy and optimization of big data computing, daily translation, business translation, simultaneous interpretation and even general academic translation are gradually being replaced by machine translation. In this context, whether the canon translation by scholars is still meaningful has become a question that must be asked. This article believes that translation of canonical texts will never be out of date, and it is precisely in this era that the canon translation with academic standards and humanistic spirit are more needed by academia and society. The contemporary task of canon translation is not only translation and introduction, but more importantly, the inheritance and construction of its own academic history and humanistic thoughts, as well as the understanding and cultivation of human history, civilization and humanistic spirit.

The existing Mount Wutai Arhats portrait spans the Ming, Qing, and Republic of China periods, and through the artistic creation of successive generations of literati painters, exquisite Arhats portraits are painted on different artistic carriers. On the basis of inheriting the traditional Chinese paradigm painting expression, the portrait of Mount Wutai Arhats constantly draws on folk nutrients. It integrates foreign Buddhist culture for refinement and sublimation. The reconstructed portrait pays attention to the image expression of its objects and the shaping of spiritual temperament. The shape is ancient and vivid, and the scene is ethereal and mysterious, which rationally expresses the Buddhist philosophy of generosity, benevolence and kindness, and contains unique oriental aesthetics.

Camilla Guerrieri Nati (1628-1694), a seventeenth-century Italian painter from Fossombrone (in the province of Pesaro and Urbino), portrayed this heroic personage surrounded by emblems associated with his military courage and leadership, including his plumed burgonet helmet, metal gilded armor, a necklace with the golden fleece, and batons of secular and religious dominions. This oil painting on copper-considered a precious metal at the time-emphasizes the importance of the commission. The material and technique also reveals a unique artistic achievement in that it provides the painting with a smooth, reflective surface and vibrant coloration, symbolizing precious imagery.

With regards to the core concept of ekphrasis, this paper makes an in-depth analysis of the features and functions of ekphrasis in the poem. The former lie in the poet's identification with the painter, and his imaginative supplementation in "the verbal representation of visual representation". The latter are embodied in the revelation of the invisible in the painting, namely, the desires and value of human beings, as well as the power of beauty and truth. Browning enriches the poem with both philosophical and artistic contemplation, thus strongly conveying the thematic implications of "know thyself" and the persistent pursuit of beauty and truth. It is hoped that this study can shed some light on the studies of Robert Browning and the poem itself, and contribute to the development of the interart poetics.

Coetzee, has been traditionally read as a disembodied writing that focuses on the problem of writing per se instead of the reality. This paper contends that the work is actually a body narrative that explores the visceral pain suffered by Magda whose infertile body impedes her being a qualified subject. As the heroine in a postcolonial novel, Magda is not just a body that is restricted and constructed by the politics of the body, but also a thinking and writing body that consciously questions and resists the gendered bodily norms under whose yardstick her subjecthood is barred. Written in the metafictional manner, Magda's narrative of the body is not just a record of her corporeal experience, but also a self-conscious negotiation with, and challenge of, the bodily norms under whose yardstick her body has been debased or, in terms of Judith Butler, abjected. Taking her female bodily experience as the starting point, Magda writes a feminine text that values passion, fluidity and non-linearity to disrupt the patriarchal discourse underpinned with logical reasoning. The feminine body narrative endeavors to achieve a new way of communication through which a reciprocal cross race/gender relationship might be established.

It explores the complex relationships between the main characters, Carrie and Hurstwood, and their families, as well as their struggles with materialism and alienation. Through close analysis of societal context, the characters' familial backgrounds and emotional yearnings, the essay delves into the characters' longing for stability and belonging and their journey toward understanding the true essence of dwelling amidst the changing urban landscape. It argues that Dreiser's novel critiques the superficial pursuit of material comforts and highlights the importance of introspection and self-discovery in finding lasting happiness amidst societal turmoil. Ultimately, through the prism of domesticity, the essay delves into broader themes of identity, belonging, and existential fulfillment in a heartless society marked by materialism and alienation.

It has intense regulatory overtones. In her short story Mr. Tang's Girls, Malaysian-Chinese Anglophone diasporic writer Shirley Geok-lin Lim shows the conflict between Eastern and Western cultures and the resistance of women under the oppression of patriarchy through the portrayal of the father, Ah Kong, and the eldest daughter, Kim Li. Based on Foucault's discipline gaze and Hooks' oppositional gaze, this article analyzes the power operation in the story from the following three aspects: the male gaze, discipline and self-discipline, and the oppositional gaze. Kim Li's subjective image of breaking free from male ownership control has been presented. It suggests the difficulties encountered by female groups in their rebellion against the male gaze and their pursuit of freedom and emancipation. It also reflects the tragedy of awakening women's destinies under the dual oppression of patriarchy and the East-Westen cultural conflict.

Based on the unconscious theory of Sigmund Freud's psychoanalysis, this article focuses on one of Alice Munro's short stories, Open Secrets, by analyzing the unconscious of representative characters, to explore their power conversion through the conflicts triggered by their unconscious mind. Via uncovering their unique personalities and values, as well as displaying their power against each other through conflict, this article reveals that the relationship between characters is sophisticated and changeable, and their power against each other has been a state of change in continuous conflicts. Behind the unconscious displays a thoroughly different comparison of forces: the strong who behaves violently and arrogantly actually shows weakness; in turn, the obedience and endurance of the weak strongly manifest a tenacious resistance.

They found this subject intriguing and painted small panels featuring this image. A. Alessandro Botticelli's Infant Bacchus Regrettably, Botticelli's Infant Bacchus Drinking from a Barrel, which was one of the residences of the Medici family, was either lost or destroyed during the fire in Palazzo Vecchio in 1690 (Lightbown, 1978, p. 216). There is evidence that this painting existed as it was listed in the Medicean Inventory of 1553. It was previously stored in Duke Cosimo I de' Medici's wardrobe room (Lightbown, 1978, p. 216). Giorgio Vasari described this painting in the Vite on the Life of Botticelli in 1568 as "Botticelli's Infant Bacchus drinking from a bottle or cask [barile] held with both hands. It is an adorable image" (Vasari, 1568, p. 474). Curiously, another Medicean Inventory of a later date, 1637, elaborates further on the imagery as "a nude [infant] Ancient Bacchus that drinks from a cask and urinates in a terracotta vase; [the painting includes] the traditional ornaments [attributes]" (Lightbown, 1978, p. 216). Botticelli's depiction of a solo infant Bacchus drinking from a cask and urinating was one of the earliest representations of this type of Bacchus in Florentine Renaissance painting. The complex and elusive structure of the work, the least representational among Woolf's novels, challenges the reader's assumptions about the inner and the outer world. In the absence of a substantial story, of a convincing plot and well-defined characters, the reader is called upon to search for a deeper coherence and more profound meanings. Indeed, in The Waves the modernist writer strives for a fresh way of expressing a vision of wholeness in a broken world. The present article attempts to reread Woolf's self-conscious novel in the double perspective of separation and reunion, of dispersal and recomposition. A close reading of selected passages will show how the poetics of fragmentation and the poetics of wholeness coexist in Woolf's narrative, pervading the imagery and the symbols of the text. In more than one sense, the dialectic between division and unity, fragmentation and wholeness can be identified as the structuring force of the novel; most tellingly, this textual dynamism is reflected in the oscillatory motion of the waves, continuously breaking and merging.

The Iconography explains the sources and interpretations of 123 paintings in 15 groups. The content covers the celebrities and historical allusions of Tessa in the past dynasties, in which there are many nicknames that are full of Chinese characteristics. This paper takes the English translation of characters' nicknames in Iconography as the research object. Through the research, it is found that the translation of these characters' nicknames mainly adopts the methods of transliteration, explanation, literal translation with annotations and free translation. Through the analysis of specific cases, this paper tries to make the translation meet the reading expectation of the target readers to the maximum extent, and provide reference for the English translation of related classical works.

It examines the depiction of persisting challenges posed by binary gender paradigms and the portrayal of potential emancipation within the narrative. The analysis focuses on two central characters, interpreting them as contrasting cases. One character represents the paradox inherent in the rebellious endeavors, highlighting how these actions, influenced by Phallocentrism and a broader framework of hierarchical structures, might inadvertently reinforce gender binarism. The other character exemplifies a triumphant departure from the binary gender paradigm through striving to attain a state of equilibrium marked by the harmonious coexistence of gender differences. Through this analysis, the paper reveals the author's dual perspectives in her exploration of gender binarism using these two distinct protagonists. At last, it employs the traditional Chinese philosophical concept of "harmony in diversity" in conjunction with feminist and gender theories to elucidate the encouraged path toward emancipation from gender binarism within McCullers' narrative.

Trapped in a small place in their lives, their poems express the same desire for love and the world. Through many metamorphic imagery, their poems transcend themselves from their small bodies, small rooms, and small villages to a vast spiritual world. Such kind of transformation helps the poets integrate poetry into their lives, break the "double bind" for female poets, and express their repressed love and self-assertion.

The research selects four novels in the case study and focuses on how mother-daughter dissonance "in her mother's house" is presented, what cultural connotations the trope of "home" carries and how they are affected by such extra-contextual factors as racism, sexism and classism. In comparison with two representative mother-daughter narrative works in pre-1990s period, the new characteristics and connotations of "home" in mother-daughter dissonance in post-1990s Chinese American fiction are revealed.

More specifically, it emphasizes by selected examples psychological and social aspects of willful amnesia which can lend itself useful in helping traumatized (country) individuals to repress painful remembrances, heal mental wounds and build a new identity in a memory-free modern city. Analyzing Jazz's narrative featuring Joe and Violet Trace, with a particular focus put on the expectations and experiences connected with their migration to and life in the City, the article explores via Paul Connerton's ruminations on cultural forgetting in modern times-delineated in his book How Modernity Forgets (2009)-the mechanisms of intentional amnesia used in the process of recovering from personal and social traumas resulting from more recent (migration and urban life) and more time-distant (slavery and racism) ordeals.

The content of this book is based on Woolf's two speeches at Cambridge, with the theme of "Women and fiction." Through the analysis of the history and current situation of female literary creation, the paper points out that women should have the courage and right to fight for independent economic power and social status. "Oxbridge" is a combined term of Oxford and Cambridge, and Oxbridge pictures dominate the first chapter of A Room of One's Own, which are the focus of this paper. Through a detailed analysis of the different indoor and outdoor pictures of Oxbridge, including nature, landscape, humanistic architecture and the "pictures" imagined in the narrator's mind, this paper discusses the existence of Victorian women and Woolf's feminist thoughts so as to provide possible implications for the social survival of contemporary women. The study is also concerned with Woolf's Eco-feminism, stream of consciousness and other artistic skills.

This paper attempts to analyze the Oriental elements, especially elements and images related to "China" in her works. Stein's uses these elements to construct a systematic and complex matrix of aesthetics and politics. "China" in Stein's matrix is an essential source of her so-called "the oriental peaceful penetration" and a significant lens for her ideological expression and political thoughts. Although Stein emphasizes her Oriental components in the source of identity, she always places herself in a Western position, ignoring cultural and political expressions in the real Chinese context and turning "China" into a useful tool in the collective fantasies of the West.

The other types of solo infant Bacchus are from Veneto. B.

The book is a study of women's unusual relationships, which are marked by intense love, envious friendships, and unbreakable ties that result in mental instability, irrational behavior, or uncontrollable behavior. Tani's work has also received recognition for including the knowledgeable perspectives of various specialists who offer a deeper and priceless understanding of these catastrophes occurring individuals' home. This study examines those instances of fear-sharing in relation to women's independence and ability to move on or start new lives. The main question is how and why Tani's employs fear. Who are the women or circumstances that cause fear? This paper considers the theoretical discourse on fear developed by scholars of the emotions such as, among others, Jaimal Yogis and Olsson and Phelps in order to examine the circumstances and outcomes of fear fashioned by Tani in her representation of Italian men's criminal reaction to women's autonomy.

modeling and decoration, reaching the peak of Chinese ceramic production. At this time, the ceramic decorative
patterns continued to innovate in inheritance and add new themes. Among them, the emergence of landscape
painting decorative patterns reflected the unique artistic charm of ceramics in the Qing Dynasty, which not only
found a new space for Chinese landscape painting, but also added new vitality to Chinese ceramic art. This paper
makes a preliminary introduction to the development of ceramic landscape decoration in the Qing Dynasty.
