A wide variation in the diagnostic criteria of diabetes insipidus (DI) has been noted in literature. A highly variable incidence of DI and hyponatraemia has been reported. There is paucity of Indian studies. Aims and Objectives: The study was designed to evaluate serum sodium level and water imbalance after sellar, suprasellar, and parasellar surgeries. This was evaluated in terms of occurrence of hyponatraemia and central DI on day 1 and day 7 in the post-operative period. Materials and Methods: Patients of either sex, aged from 18 to 65 years, ASA physical status I-II, GCS score ≥13, with baseline normal electrolyte level, posted for elective neurosurgical procedures for sellar, suprasellar, and parasellar tumours, were included for this study after satisfying the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Therefore, in the present study, an attempt has been made to investigate whether the M&A announcement generates value to the shareholders or not. By employing event study methodology, the study observed signiÖcant negative abnormal returns during the post-M&A announcement period for both overall market and individual banking sector stock. The re- turns further deteriorated in the long run with signiÖcant negative BHAR. Thus, the study concludes that the M&A did not create value to the shareholders; instead, it deteriorate the shareholdersívalue

The study uses sophisticated econometric tools to analyse monthly observations from January 1993 to December 2019. The Augmented Dickey Fuller (ADF) test indicates that the variables involved in the present study are either I(0) or I(1). The Bai-Perron multiple break point test identiÖes four breakpoint dates in the Indian stock market index series. The breakpoint dates are incorporated as di§erent dummy variables in the ARDL-ECM regression. The F-bounds test reveals that the variables in the study are cointegrated within the time period under consideration. Our Öndings show that the interest rate, which is a proxy for monetary policy instrument, and the foreign currency exchange rate have a negative impact on the Indian stock market both in the long-run and short-run. The Journal of Immunology

Invariant Natural Killer T cells (iNKT) are innate lineage of lymphocytes with distinct developme... more Invariant Natural Killer T cells (iNKT) are innate lineage of lymphocytes with distinct developmental pathway than conventional αβ T cells. The transcriptional repressor NKAP is required for early T cell development and maturation of conventional αβ T cells. Using CD4-cre NKAP cKO mice, we show that NKAP is required for positive selection of thymocytes into the iNKT cells lineage. Deletion of NKAP using CD4-cre leads to an early block in iNKT cell development at the DP stage. This cell intrinsic defect was not due to decreased DP thymocyte survival or inability of NKAP deficient thymocytes to rearrange their Vα14-Jα18 TCR. Moreover, ectopic over-expression of Vα14-Jα18 invariant TCR α chain rescued the development of iNKT cells. This suggests that NKAP plays a role in the positive selection of thymocytes into the iNKT cell lineage. Interestingly, conditional deletion of NKAP associated protein Hdac3 using CD4-cre also leads to a similar block in iNKT cell development, but not conven...

Helicoverpa armigera (Ha), a polyphagous pest, causes significant damage to several crop plants, ... more Helicoverpa armigera (Ha), a polyphagous pest, causes significant damage to several crop plants, including cotton. The control of this cosmopolitan pest is largely challenging due to the development of resistance to existing management practices. The Juvenile Hormone (JH) plays a pivotal role in the life cycle of insects by regulating their morphogenetic and gonadotropic development. Hence, enzymes involved in JH biosynthesis are an attractive target for the development of selective insecticides. Farnesyl diphosphate synthase (FPPS), a member protein of (E)-prenyl-transferases, is one of the most crucial enzymes in the biosynthetic pathway of JHs. It catalyzes the condensation of isopentenyl diphosphate (IPP) with dimethylallyl diphosphate (DMAPP), forming farnesyl diphosphate (FPP), a precursor of JH. The study was designed to identify an effective small inhibitory molecule that could inhibit the activity of Helicoverpa armigera - FPPS (HaFPPS) for an effective pest control intervention. Therefore, a 3D model of FPPS protein was generated using homology modeling. The FooDB database library of small molecules was selected for virtual screening, following which binding affinities were evaluated using docking studies. Three top-scored molecules were analyzed for various pharmacophore properties. Further, molecular dynamics (MD) simulation analysis showed that the identified molecules (mitraphylline-ZINC1607834, chlorogenic acid-ZINC2138728 and llagate-ZINC3872446) had a reasonably acceptable binding affinity for HaFPPS and resulted in the formation of a stable HaFPPS-inhibitor(s) complex. The identified phytochemical molecules may be used as potent inhibitors of HaFPPS thus, paving the way for further developing environment-friendly insect growth regulator(s). Intersample variance in gene expression can be more precisely measured if transcripts levels are accurately normalized. Normalization is pre-requisite step prior to the determination of candidate gene expression by qPCR. In this study conducted at ICAR-Central Institute for Cotton Research, Nagpur during 2015–16, six candidate reference genes, viz. actin4 (ACT4), actin7(ACT7), RNA Helicase (RNAH), Serine/threonine-protein phosphatase PP2A-1(PP2A1), ubiquitin7 (UBQ7) and α tubulin (αTUB) were systematically analysed for their expression patterns in different tissues pertaining to three development stages of cotton namely seedling, early reproductive and fiber development. The study has identified actin-4/actin-7/ubiquitin-7 as the most ideal reference genes for fiber development stages whereas actin-4/ ubiquitin-7 and actin-7/RNA helicases for seedling and early reproductive...

The study delves into the scope to which the institutional quality of a country affects the bilateral industry-level trade flows of manufacturing goods and services. Based on the interactive general equilibrium trade model of country-specific and industry-specific institutionally intensive variables, including the traditional control variables in bilateral trade, we analyze the six-digit NAICS classified industry-level bilateral trade flows from 220 countries and 389 industries for the year 1997. Corresponding to the Dixit-Stiglitz differentiated product solution, the theoretical portion of the study confirms that the new differentiated product solution is also a functional form of the institutions. The causal relationship is established by addressing the econometric challenges and endogeneity problems first with the Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) method of estimation and then with the Tobit model and Poisson Pseudo Maximum Likelihood (PPML) method of estimation with several robustness checks. Results indicate that countries with stronger institutions shift industries from highly concentrated markets with lower trade shares to lower concentrated markets with higher trade shares. Moreover, the institutions of the exporting countries are causal factors that manipulate the market structures for bilateral trade. This outcome is robust across industries that are non-agricultural manufacturing rather than agricultural-manufacturing within the manufacturing sector and across all the quartiles of the volumes of bilateral trade flows. The results are also robust across model selection and other robustness checks within the model specification, including established control variables standard in prior studies on the influence of institutions on trade patterns

During the last two decades or so, there has been a steady increase in the number of brands for all categories of products. This could become possible with foreign companies coming to and investing in Indian market, and making all efforts to popularize their product/brand. This has generated greater competition among producers (both domestic as well as foreign) and benefited consumers by providing them with ample opportunities to choose a product or brand of a product that suits them the most. In this project report, we attempt to analyze brand preference and brand loyalty of the people. For this purpose, we have considered three products, namely, Jeans, T-shirts and Footwear.
