La dinámica exportadora de un país es un factor que impacta en su competitividad, es por esto que... more La dinámica exportadora de un país es un factor que impacta en su competitividad, es por esto que nuestro país, desde hace 20 años, ha realizado esfuerzos para internacionalizar sus empresas, propiciando la apertura económica, firmando Tratados de Libre Comercio con otros países, entre otras estrategias. El Departamento del Atlántico, por su ubicación geográfica, debería ser uno de los líderes en exportaciones del país, sin embargo menos del 25% de sus empresas se encuentran comercializando sus productos en el exterior. Queriendo contribuir con la tarea de motivar a más empresarios a exportar sus productos, se desarrolló una investigación donde se construyó una regla discriminante que permite clasificar empresas como potencialmente exportadora o no exportadora de acuerdo con la medición de una serie de variables significativas. The objective of this research is to design strategies based on lean manufacturing principles in ... more The objective of this research is to design strategies based on lean manufacturing principles in order to improve the efficiency of the production process of a metalworking company. Lean manufacturing is a continuous improvement philosophy that aims to eliminate or reduce, through different tools, all types of waste found in a production process. During the project, a detailed analysis of the production processes was carried out; with operations diagrams, Pareto charts, Ishikawa diagrams, VSM, among others. With these, it was possible to determine the different problems present in anchor rods and clamps production lines. According to the project's progress, each of the improvement strategies was developed, proving its functionality and utility for productivity and cost reduction. Finally, the waste reductions generated by each strategy were calculated, and then the benefits and the investment required for the implementation of the strategies, justified by the cost-benefit analys...

In recent years, taking advantage of LARG supply chain (SC) paradigm, a combination of four parad... more In recent years, taking advantage of LARG supply chain (SC) paradigm, a combination of four paradigms (clean, agile, resilience and green) has been increasingly employed. For capturing the advantages of LARG in SC, companies needed to recognize proper practices and implement them with appropriate planning and infrastructure. However, one of its deficiencies is lack of proper method in the prioritization of the LARG paradigms and practices as well as explanation of their relationship. Hence, the main contribution of this paper is to present a comprehensive approach to deal with inherent vagueness and uncertainty of the human decision process using fuzzy set theory, it aims to provide a quantitative basis via a hybrid fuzzy multi-criteria decision making (FMCDM) model that will make easy data collection and shall decrease the calculation. This model combines fuzzy decision making trial and evaluation laboratory (DEMATEL) with fuzzy analytical network process (ANP), i.e. FDANP, to determine the global weights of paradigms and practices and develop their impact relation map. Finally, the implementation of practice was prioritized by using interpretative structural model (ISM). It should be noted that, to measure the efficiency of this method, Iranian dairy industries as a case study was considered. With the help of obtained results, it can be determined the most and the least important practices and paradigms and prioritization of their implementation.

This study aims to analyze the process conditions for the reference changeover in a pipe forming ... more This study aims to analyze the process conditions for the reference changeover in a pipe forming mill in a metalworking company in Colombia, focusing on the high setup times of this machine. High set up times in this machine causes, excessive idle time, low productivity, and complains due to tardy orders. Based on the principles of SMED, each of the setup activities was analyzed. The methodology allowed the reclassification of some activities as external, as well as the identification of deficiencies in personnel formation, housekeeping, lack of tools, and other factors affecting the setup time. Different actions were implemented with the commitment of directives, operators, production management, and other areas. The discipline showed for all the involved areas allowed to achieve exceptional results.

Today, all organizations are continually seeking to produce high quality, reliable, and timely go... more Today, all organizations are continually seeking to produce high quality, reliable, and timely goods and services that meet the needs of their customers. Therefore, production scheduling is one of the most complex activities in production management in organizations. In the present work, the production projection is developed in a Job Shop system using a mathematical model of linear integer programming whose objective is to minimize the total lateness. The developed model is validated by means of an application case with three jobs and four machines, obtaining the optimum programming according to the requirements. The results obtained have been compared with a scheduling software to evaluate the performance of the proposed model.
