Beginning reading is the initial process in reading learning activities that is trained with lett... more Beginning reading is the initial process in reading learning activities that is trained with letters and syllables in low grade students. However, many students who are in grade II SD experience difficulties in learning to read at the beginning, because one of the efforts of researchers to improve early reading is to apply the use of letter card media to encourage student enthusiasm and interest. The research subjects to be studied are all students of Pasuluhan Elementary School. in grade 2, there are 26 children, consisting of 13 male students and 13 female students. The research design used the Classroom Action Researcher (CAR) model, there were several cycles in this study, each cycle having 4 components, namely planning, implementation, observation and reflection. the results of the practice of learning activities in cycle II with games using letter cards get an average value of 74.03 with an increase percentage of 76.9%, so the percentage of success of the data obtained has exceeded the expected success criteria of 70%.
