Drilling of glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) composite material is substantially complicated... more Drilling of glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) composite material is substantially complicated from the metallic materials due to its high structural stiffness (of the composite) and low thermal conductivity of plastics. During drilling of GFRP composites, problems generally arise like fiber pull out, delamination, stress concentration, swelling, burr, splintering and micro cracking etc. which reduces overall machining performance. Now-a-days hybrid approaches have been received remarkable attention in order to model machining process behavior and to optimize machining performance towards subsequent improvement of both quality and productivity, simultaneously. In the present research, spindle speed, feed rate, plate thickness and drill bit diameter have been considered as input parameters; and the machining yield characteristics have been considered in terms of thrust and surface roughness (output responses) of the drilled composite product. The study illustrates the applicability of genetic programming with the help of GPTIPS as well as Adaptive Neuro Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) towards generating prediction models for better understanding of the process behavior and for improving process performances in drilling of GFRP composites.

Methods: A case-control study was conducted to examine the association between SNP T538C of BMP4 and orthopedic complications in sickling patients by employing PCR-RFLP. Results: A total of 200 cases and 172 control groups were studied from Indian population. T538C SNP has not been implicated in disease and doesn't increase the risk (OR = 0.89, OR = 0.68). We observed no significant association between the T538C polymorphism and case group in the studied population. However, we observed significantly increased uric acid and LDH level in homowild (TT), heteromutant (TC) and homomutant (CC) in case group compared to control group (all p = 0.0001) and (p = 0.0001, p = 0.0001, p = 0.015 and p = 0.0001, p = 0.0001, p = 0.0001 respectively) in the studied population. Conclusions: The T/C polymorphism in BMP4 is not associated with case group and in view of present observation, we suggest that evaluation of LDH and uric acid level and its association with polymorphisms in the BMP4 may be considered to be reliable molecular and biochemical markers, and possess promising rational for diagnostic potential in clinical cases.

We aim to use this information along with expression data to produce better gene clusters. Results: We propose an algorithm that produces good quality cohesive clusters and does not require the a priori specification of the number of clusters. The proposed algorithm comprehensively outperforms the k-means and random clustering algorithms on two yeast cell data sets. Availability: Available on request.

Hence, lasers have been widely used to localize the heat affected zone in order to control the micro-structural changes. However, the major difficulty arises while performing laser drilling is the formation of spatter which affects the quality of holes. The present study focuses on reduction of spatter area in CO 2 laser drilling of stainless steel using Taguchi method embedded with Harmony search algorithm. The influence of machining parameters such as flushing pressure, laser power and pulse frequency on spatter area has been studied through Analysis of variance (ANOVA). It has been observed that flushing pressure and pulse frequency are the most influencing factors on formation of spatter. Harmony search algorithm has been used to evaluate the optimal parametric setting that attempts to minimize spatter area.
