We also made an attempt to investigate whether personality traits and gender were predictors of PTG growth in adolescents. Therefore, the theoretical bases for the interpretation of the obtained results are models of post-traumatic growth (PTG), mainly by Calhoun and Tedeschi. The research was conducted in March 2020. The study subjects were 405 adolescents aged 14 to 20 years, with an average age of 17 years, of whom 59% were females and 41% were males. The following methods were used in the study: IPIP-BFM-20 to estimate five personality traits, PSS- to diagnose perceived stress, and an in-house questionnaire of pandemic threats experienced by adolescents (KŻP). The results...

Research paper thumbnail of Identity Building and Changes in The Values System of Polish Students of Pedagogy. Longitudinal Research

Proceedings of The world conference on Future of Education, 2019

Answers to identity questions such as: Who am I? Where am I going? What is the meaning of my life? are key to determining one's place in the world, and to taking up and carrying out development tasks (Havighurst, 1950). The process of identity building can be conducted in a number of different ways. M. Berzonsky (2004) defines them with styles of identity. He describes three styles of identity building: informational, normative, and diffuse-avoidant. The individual's value system is the foundation on which the individual builds the concept of his or her own person. According to Schwarz's views (2001) it should be acknowledged that values play a motivating role in activities that ensure the realization of the vision of oneself and one's life. The aim of the presented research was to check whether during the period of gaining educational experience during 3-year pedagogical studies changes in identity styles and hierarchy of values of young people at the beginning of adulthood take place. The longitudinal research was carried out in two stages: at the beginning of the first and at the end of the third year of studies. In the first stage 85 people (81 women and 4 men) took part in the study and in the second stage 48 people (46 women and 2 men) were examined. In the study two methods: M. Berzonsky's Identity Style Inventory (ISI3) and Schwartz Values Inventory were used. The results obtained indicate changes (between the first and third year of studies) in informational and normative identity style; the level of informational style decreased and the level of normative style increased. There was also a statistically significant modification of the intensity of one of the elements of values system: Achievement. During the course of studies, the intensity of this value was increased.

Research paper thumbnail of Role of Trust in Modern E-Learning Models

It is a factor of trust. Trust in distance learning has at least three different meanings. First type of trust, probably the most important, concerns the relation between pupils and teachers. In traditional class it is called pupilmaster relationship and it intrinsically involves high level of mutual trust between the two. In modern elearning this type of trust is not that obvious but is still in the same way desired. Second type of trust concerns various relations on the bottom level of the process of learning, and is often called peer trust. At nowadays stage of massive distance learning development there are usually lots of occasions to communicate in the group of learners, to peer learning and even peer assessment. Level of trust between the learners in the group can influence overall trust to the course and to the very idea of distance learning. Third type of trust is addressed to the content of the course online. Learners should be convinced that the product offered on learning market is of highest possible quality. Taking into account above mentioned three types of trust that play role in effective distance learning we have designed a series of studies aiming at verification of the set of hypotheses put forward at the beginning of the research. And thus, we wanted to check what is the importance of this manifestations of trust in the course of using the distance learning courses and to verify whether proper design and use of e-learning can preserve the sufficient level of trust and defend the quality of modern e-learning products. Our research shows high level of correlation between subjective sense of trust among young learners and effectiveness of distance learning. Second important conclusion states high attribution of importance to trust factor in all groups participated in our research.

While using the Internet young people are exposed to the content which affects their attitudes. In that way mass media are becoming an important educational environment. Therefore, it seems justified to raise the question regarding the impact of social media on the process of forming young people's attitudes. One of the elements relevant to personal and social development is the experience of gratitude and the way to express it. The aim of the research is to show the connection between the use of social media by young people and their perception and experience of gratitude. 200 Polish secondary school students were examined during the research. The author's questionnaire entitled "Youth and gratitude" was used in the research. The initial analysis indicates the significance of time which they spend online and its impact on their experience related to gratitude. Research participants gave examples of various forms of expressing gratitude in media.

The identity-building process can take different forms, which Berzonsky calls styles. These are the methods by which people construct and utilize their knowledge of decision making in everyday life [2]. The following are three styles of identity building: informative, normative and diffusion-avoidance. Information-style persons make independent efforts to search, process and evaluate information related to "I". People with a normative style more automatically internalize their knowledge and adjust to the expectations of significant individuals, authorities. The diffusion-avoidance style consists in shifting and avoiding as far as possible the conflicts and situations that force decisions [3]. In today's world thanks to t...

EDULEARN18 Proceedings, 2018

Shaping expected attitudes takes place, among others through various educational forms, including formal, informal, and non-formal. Thus, using the term "educational activities", one should remember about various activities in order to look at a young, growing person. It is worth, especially, to indicate those that concern the building of mutual relations, especially intra-generational ones. Often, disturbances in generational relations among youth are explained by a "youth rebellion" which has to be tempered through diverse educational interactions. Adolescents often react with rebellion to experienced limitations. They reveal opposition to the surrounding reality when they do not understand it or do not accept it and see the need to change it. As long as the rebellion is moderately strong, it is conducive to development because it is one of the ways in which teenagers build their identities (Oleszkowicz, 2006). However, very high severity of rebellion can have destructive effects (Luthar, Ansary 2007). The intensity of rebellion, criticism in the period of adolescence are associated with the young people's control over the efficiency of formal and operational thinking. On the other hand, such features of reasoning as relativism, dialectic, and systematism facilitate reconciliation of seemingly contradictory views and positions and, consequently, promote understanding and effective solutions to conflicts, especially in the social world (Sinnot 2009, Gurba 2011). To stimulate these thinking traits, high school students (average age = 16.08) conducted a series of classes (10 lessons) in which they solved hypothetical "everyday problems." The level of rebellion (Questionnaire of Youth Rebellion, by A, Oleszkowicz, 2006) was tested twice: before the beginning of training and one year after its completion. In the group of students undergoing stimulation, the level of rebellion decreased, while in the control group (in which the students did not participate in the training) remained unchanged compared to the first measurement. In the paper we will describe the research as such, as well as the results and their consequences
