Hybrid photovoltaic thermal (PVT) collectors allow simultaneous production of electrical energy t... more Hybrid photovoltaic thermal (PVT) collectors allow simultaneous production of electrical energy thus heat energy. There are several configurations of hybrid collectors (to produce water or air). For hybrids water collectors, there are several configurations that differ by the nature of the absorber (serpentine, tubes...). In this paper, an absorber tank is studied. The circulation of the coolant is natural (we do not use the pump). We present the obtained results in our experimental study and we analyzed the data, and then we compare the results with the theory practices. The electrical performances of the hybrid collector are compared with those of conventional photovoltaic module mounted on the same structure and measured under the same conditions. We conducted experiments with natural circulation of the coolant (Thermosyphon), for a flow rate of 0.025kg/m².

The disadvantage of a conventional photovoltaic cell is that its performance decreases as the temperature increases. Indeed, part of the solar radiation is converted into electricity and is dissipated as heat, increasing the temperature of the photovoltaic cell with respect to the ambient temperature. The objective of this work is to study experimentally and implement a hybrid prototype to evaluate electrical and thermal performance. In this paper, an experimental study of two new configurations of hybrid collectors is exposed. The results are given and interpreted. The two configurations of absorber studied are a new combination with tubes and galvanized tank, the other is a tubes and sheet.

The water-cooled photovoltaic thermal PVT system is therefore proposed to avoid the voltage drop at high temperature. The use of single diode PV/PVT models in simulation software becomes indispensable to analyze its performances where several climatic conditions such as environmental temperature and solar radiation variations should be considered. An optimal set of PV/PVT model parameters are determined through experimental data using two evolutionary computation algorithms; genetic algorithm and particle swarm optimization algorithm. Furthermore, the robustness of the given PV/PVT model should be analyzed. The predicted electrical properties by the proposed PVT model are compared with those given by the conventional PV model at its operating cell conditions and also at several rigid atmospheric conditions.

The studied system is constituted by a sheet and tube placed below the surface on which the solar cells are assembled to extract heat from the photovoltaic module. The mathematical model is based on the equations of the energy balances written for the various nodes of the system, and the coupled differential equations obtained are solved by using the finite differences method. The temperatures of the various layers of solar PV/T collector and the coolant temperature are predicted. With the hybrid solar collector presented in this article, the temperature at the maximum photovoltaic cell is reached 53 °C; we see that the integration of the heat exchanger at the photovoltaic collector reduces the temperature of the PV cell that which increases its efficiency, in the other hand, the gain of these calories is used for heating the fluid. We obtained an overall efficiency which is the sum of the electrical efficiency and thermal efficiency for irradiation conditions chosen equal to 64%. The results of experimental study were compared with theoretical data and the model was validated.
