Aim: Is to describe the demographic, anatomic and histological characteristics of head and neck sarcomas. Materials and Methods: This is a retrospective study of patients with histologic diagnoses of head and neck sarcomas seen in a Nigerian tertiary hospital, from January 2010 to December 2015. The retrieved data were reviewed for age, sex, types and sites of tumour origin and analysed statistically using predictive analysis software version 18. Results: We reviewed a total of 51 cases, and these represented 3.2% of a total of 1,574 cases of head and neck malignancies diagnosed during the study period. Males 27 (52.9%) and Females 24 (47.1%). The median ages at presentation for adults and children were 28 and 6.5 years respectively. Age ranged from 8 days to 65 years. The majority of the patients were in their first Original Research Article
Sequence alignment and comparison through pairwise, multiple, global and local techniques are the... more Sequence alignment and comparison through pairwise, multiple, global and local techniques are the main principles that underpin comparative genomics. However, most of the algorithms used are alignment-based which imposed some limitations on their use and application. In an attempt to provide an alignment-free alternative approaches, a methodology of comparative optinalysis and statistical mirroring was used and adopted to provide a suitable alternative for multiple genomic sequence comparison. In this article, methods comparison with MUSCLE, MUFFT, Clustal Omega, and T-Coffee was designed to assess the suitability and statistical power of statistical mirroring as an alternative method for multiple genomic sequences comparison using different sets of logically generated biological sequence datasets with different problems and computational complications. The results of the comparisons validate that statistical mirroring is a suitable alignment-free alternative approach for multiple g...

However, most of the inferential statistical tools are based on strong assumptions which create a strict limitations on their use and application. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) is one of such statistics. In this article, eight (8) new ANOVA-like methodologies were proposed, in alternative to one-way ANOVA, based on the assumptions of statistical mirroring. Methods validation in comparison with one-way ANOVA was designed to assess the suitability and statistical power of the new proposals as an alternative methods, using different sets of logically generated multivariate datasets with different problems and statistical complications. The results of comparisons validate that the eight (8) proposed ANOVA-like methodologies were suitable alternatives to ANOVA, in the sense that they require no normality assumption to be meet, used different ways to compare the data with diff...

The results show that the outcomes of comparative optinalysis (similarity measurement) in a set of paranodically skewed sequences can be modeled deterministically by suitable line regression functions. The sensitivity points (nodes) of a sequence display two important and distinct zones, the K-zones and the B-zones. Continues paranodic skewization within these zones (KB zones) operates within probability space, but at hyperskewization level and at the K-zones only, the outcomes of comparative optinalysis operate outside the probability space. Moreover, the outcomes of comparative optinalysis by synodic skewization can be modeled deterministically by some regression line functions, but a general regression f...

Optinalysis is based by the principles of reflection and moment about a symmetrical line which detects symmetry that reflects a similarity measurement. This proposed methodology was validated in comparison with Pearson method of skewness detection, and also with some algorithms for pairewise alignment and comparison of genomic sequences (Needle, Stretcher, Water, Matcher) on EMBL-EBI website. A results comparison shows that optinalysis is more advance, more sensitive, more inferential and simple alternative approach of skewness detection and pairewise sequence comparison.

In our case report, we intended to highlight the role of polypectomy as a practical option for routine hysterectomy and the surgical cure of cervical LMS. Case Report: A 50-year-old woman (Para 8+0, 6A) presented to the Gynecological Clinic of ATB University Teaching Hospital with vaginal discharge and fleshy mass protruding from the vulva. Examination revealed a cervical polyp on the anterior lip of the cervix. Polypectomy was performed subsequently, and histologic examination including immunohistochemical staining confirmed LMS of the uterine cervix. The patient underwent hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy with the histological confirmation of a complete excision. Conclusions: Generally, no specific management option is taken for this tumor due to its rare occurrence. However, polypectomy with a wide excision of ...

Agricultural greenhouse (GH) systems provides suitable microclimatic environment for maximum plan... more Agricultural greenhouse (GH) systems provides suitable microclimatic environment for maximum plant growth (quality and quantity) and protect plants from adverse atmospheric agents using appropriate technology. This will influence and ultimately modifies the crop microclimate, thereby improving the plants growing condition, improving their quality and permitting high yields; thus, lengthening the market availability of the products. This paper describes the basic operation of a sustainable agricultural greenhouse suitable for the mild winter climate of the Mediterranean region for air heating, solar energy utilization, water desalination and plant production. The numerical analysis of the dynamic model for determination of various GH performance was done for a typical winter day of December of Borg El-Arab, Alexandria Egypt. A GH heating control strategy based on MATLAB and CFD simulations for energy saving, suitable microclimate maintenance and better performance of the GH systems were studied. The GH transient performance and uncertain microclimate conditions depend on air temperature, relative humidity, carbon dioxide concentration and solar radiation. A mathematical model was developed using MATLAB/Simulink to compute the transmitted hourly solar radiation, air cooling by the outlet condenser, air and wall temperatures, water production from TSS and condenser and air recirculation ratios. Computed air and wall temperatures were then introduced to ANSYS computational fluid dynamics (CFD) to evaluate the microclimatic conditions of the GH cavity. Flow vectors, relative humidity and temperatures stream lines are presented for the whole GH. Results shows that the south wall receive the greater amount of solar radiation in the winter periods. The results also predicted over 4 L/m 2 .day of water to be produced, with inside air temperature average of 18 °C.

Public enterprises and the private sector cooperate in providing services and infrastructure through a variety of mechanisms. The level of performance and development of public enterprise in the country are very low due to corruption, management inefficiencies, overstaffing and inflation. This paper therefore in tend to highlight the different mechanisms of public private partnership (PPPs) in the management of public enterprise including concessions, build-operate-and-transfer (BOTs) arrangement, joint ventures and informal and voluntary cooperation as applied in some Latin American and Asian countries. The paper recommends that the government should clearly identify goals and objectives of public private partnerships and embody them in an official set of laws, develop strategy for management plan for public private partnerships and create employment protection measures for current government employees in organization that will go in to public private partnerships.
