People have traditionally depended on various varieties of indigenous fish species, easily available from nearby water bodies, as a source of nutrition. Daniels (2002) indicates that of 750 species of freshwater fish species found in India, a large number of them are familiar only to the local population. These species are better known to the rural population due to the importance they attach to these species as a vital and affordable source of nutrition. This is not only the case in India but also in other countries in Asia such as Laos, Cambodia, Viet Nam and China (Halwart & Bartley 2005).

It is an old phenomenon to initiate a new range of services in the present environment. This paper defines the attributes of embedded library services such as user-oriented, no physical proximity required, miniature group centric, expertise, etc. It also endows with suggestions to the future embedded librarians which embrace acting as a group and not as an individual, support from the organisation and associates, commercial outlook, risk taking competence, etc. This paper also explains the practicing embedded librarianship process which starts with the identification of a faculty member who is library-friendly and ends with providing with embedded library services in the hi-tech era. It is a transformation process of traditional librarian to embedded librarian. As compared to traditional librarianship which is based on transaction, embedded librarianship is based on relationship with the faculty, or user community. When an em...

This conjugated nitrone undergoes frontier-orbital (LUMO-dipole HOMO-dipolarophile) controlled exo-selecitve 1,3-dipolar cycloadditions; the stereo-chemical outcome is in¯uenced predominantly by steric factors, besides secondary orbital and/or polar interactions.

The observations were recorded on grain yield plant−1 (g), seedling length (cm), number of leaves planrl, days to 50% flowering, plant height (cm), tillers plant−1, ear bearing tillers plant−1, spikelets plant−1, gains panicle−1, spikelet fertility per cent, test weight (g), biological yield (g) and harvest index. Phenotypic and genotypic coefficient of variation were higher for grain yield plant−1, spikelet fertility per cent, spikelets plant−1, ear bearing tillers plant−1, test weight and tillers plant−1. High heritability estimates in broad sense were obtained for most of the characters except seedling length and plant height, while narrow, sense heritability estimates were higher for test weight and moderate for rest of the characters except seedling length, number of leaves, spikelets panicle−1, biological yield and grain yield plant−1, which exhibited low heritability. High heritability coupled with high genetic advance were recorded for test weight, spikelet fertility per cent, grain yield plant−1, harvest index, biological yield and number of spikelets plant−1.

Irrigation with 7 cm water at 1 day after disappearance of ponded water (DADPW) was superior to 3 and 5 DADPW in respect of yield, yield attributes and nutrient uptake. The highest grain yield (5.44 t ha−1) and straw yield (7.68 t ha−1), was recorded with 1 DADPW. Application of recommended dose of NPK (120:60:40 kg ha−1) applied through inorganic fertilizers was at par with green manuring + 75% NPK through inorganic fertilizers in respect of yield attributes, yield and total nutrient uptake. The maximum grain yield (5.21 t ha−1) and straw yield (7.45 t ha−1) was obtained with 100% NPK (120:60:40 kg ha−1), which was at par with green manuring + 75% NPK applied through inorganic fertilizers.

Autoignition delay experiments for the isomers of butanol, including n-, sec-, tert-, and iso-but... more Autoignition delay experiments for the isomers of butanol, including n-, sec-, tert-, and iso-butanol, have been performed using a heated rapid compression machine. For a compressed pressure of 15 bar, the compressed temperatures have been varied in the range of 725-855 K for all the stoichiometric fuel/oxidizer mixtures. Over the conditions investigated in this study, the ignition delay decreases monotonically as temperature increases and exhibits single-stage characteristics. Experimental ignition delays are also compared to simulations computed using three kinetic mechanisms available in the literature. Reasonable agreement is found for three isomers (tert-, iso-, and n-butanol).

The isotropic Raman band of the C=O stretching mode of the N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF) molecule h... more The isotropic Raman band of the C=O stretching mode of the N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF) molecule has been studied as a function of solvents' hydrodynamic properties. The effect of solvent viscosity on linewidth (r,,,,) has been studied in detail, particularly using the theory of microviscosity. Modifications have been made in the f(p, q. n) parameter which relates the vibrational relaxation rate with viscosity, density and dispersion energy on the basis of microviscosity.

The nano PAni films are formed through the assembly of nano granules of the polymer. The average height of the film is in the range of 50 nm. The electrical conductivity of the Si-PAni is influenced in the presence of ammonia. The response of this conductometric sensor is almost linear within 5-50 ppm of ammonia. The response and the recovery times are observed to be 10 and 60 s, respectively for 10 ppm of ammonia. The response time of the sensor for other concentrations (viz. 20, 30, 40, 50 and 60 ppm ammonia) is also in the range of 10 ± 2 s. However, the recovery of the sensor takes slightly longer time (70 ± 3 s) in case of higher concentrations (≥40 ppm) of ammonia.

Recognizing that the ability to model autoignition chemistry is critical to understanding the operation of Homogeneous Charged Compression Ignition engines, this work is an attempt to experimentally and computationally assess the autoignition responses of research grade gasoline and two of its proposed surrogates reported in the literature using a rapid compression machine (RCM), for the low-to-intermediate temperature range and at high pressures. The first surrogate studied is a three-component mixture of iso-octane, n-heptane, and toluene. The second is a four-component mixture that includes an olefin (2-pentene), in addition to the ones noted above. Ignition delay times of stoichiometric mixtures, for gasoline and the two surrogates in air, are measured using an RCM for pressures of 20 and 40 bar, and in the temperature range of 650-900 K. The four-component surrogate is found to emulate the ignition delay times of gasoline more closely when compared to the three-component surrogate. Additionally, the experimental data are compared against the computed results from a recently developed surrogate model for gasoline combustion. A good agreement between the experimental and computed results is observed, while discrepancies are also identified and discussed.
