In spite of best efforts by various organizations at government and NGO levels, the counselling for breast feeding during ante natal period is almost an unaddressed arena, which if proper attention is given, may result in very high incidence of successful breast feeding. Methods: It is a hospital based prospective study. A total of 150 primiparous mothers (100 study group and 50 control group) were counselled during every antenatal checkup for exclusive breast feeding attending the OPD of Obstetrics & Gynaecology department of Vardhman Institute of Medical sciences, Pawapuri, Nalanda, Bihar from January 2015 to December 2016 and the outcome of counselling was observed during follow up in puerperium for 6 weeks. Results: Similar profile primiparous mothers in both study and control group, the mothers who were counselled on thei...

Studies show LAM to be 98% effective, as effective as the pill and other modern methods, when used according to guidelines. As LAM costs nothing, easy and natural to use, no medication or any devise needed, no interference with natural hormones, no interruption in conjugal life and more over the mother enjoying her motherhood life, it sounds very good as a method of contraception. Methods:This is a prospective non-comparative study. A total of 298 mothers participated in this study. The benefits of exclusive breast feeding with particular emphasis on timely breastfeeding and must feeding during the night hours were explained to the mothers and the physiology of lactational amenorrhea was explained to them. All the mothers were interviewed and followed up on monthly basis. Results:No lactating mothers conceived within the fi...

Research paper thumbnail of Examining the age‐performance relationship for entrepreneurs: Does the innovativeness of a venture make a difference?

New England Journal of Entrepreneurship

Whether older or younger entrepreneurs may be better positioned to achieve performance outcomes f... more Whether older or younger entrepreneurs may be better positioned to achieve performance outcomes for their ventures is a much debated question. Here, we draw on Galenson℉s theory of creativity to propose a contingency perspective for understanding the relationship between entrepreneur age and venture performance, suggesting that a venture℉s level of innovativeness plays a moderating role. Results from a representative sample of 1,182 nascent entrepreneurs revealed mixed support for our hypotheses. While a negative relationship was found between entrepreneur age and performance for those developing “innovative” ventures, no relationship was found between entrepreneur age and performance for those developing “imitative” ventures.

Indian companies are gearing towards the next level of responsible growth. It was found that SAR is based on the principles of full cost accounting that includes the costing of sustainability, natural capital inventory accounting, and input-output analysis. The legal framework in India for SAR is quite old and is still evolving. Sustainability is a present challenge for India in the supply chains and value chains given their massive scales and impact on Indian and global environment, on economy and on people. This article presents an overview of the research opportunities in the field of SAR in India in the area of supply chain management.

Runoff hydrographs were generated from flow data and unit hydrographs (UH) were obtained for 1 and 2 h duration. UH parameters such as time to peak (t p), time base (t b), and peak discharge were modeled with geomorphologic parameters of the watershed such as channel parameters as well as basin parameters. Basin parameters were obtained from the Survey of India maps using geographical information system (GIS) techniques and drainage network were updated from Indian remote sensing satellite digital images. A correlation matrix between UH parameters and geomorphologic parameters was generated and geomorphologic parameters having higher degree of correlation with UH parameters were selected. Regression equations were developed between individual UH parameters and one of the geomorphologic parameters obtained in the previous step. Out of various forms of equations, power law equations gave the highest values of the coefficient of determination (R 2). Based on higher values of R 2 geomorphologic parameters were selected. Then non-linear regression models were developed between UH parameters and the above-selected geomorphologic parameters based on Aikaike's information criterion (AIC) and higher R 2 value. All developed models for Tarafeni watershed and its sub watersheds were tested using different statistical tests for different rainfall events. Also these models were validated for nearby Bhairabbanki watershed and its sub watersheds. These models can be suitable for small and medium agricultural sub tropical sub humid basins having similar geohydrological conditions.

The aim of the study was to assess the clinical and the pathological features of tuberculous peripheral lymphadenopathy along with the effect of the antitubercular drugs on its clinical course. A prospective study was carried out in the department of pulmonary medicine from July 2013 to June 2014. Clinico-demographical and pathological characteristics of the patients of tuberculous lymphadenopathy were studied. Two and four cases, 84 (41.2%) male and 120 (58.8%) females were diagnosed as the cases of tuberculous lymphadenopathy. Mean age of the patients were 28.45 ± 12.83. Palpable mass (100%) was the most common presenting feature. Cervical lymphadenopathy (92.6%) was the most common presentation of peripheral tuberculous lymphadenopathy. Most common cytological pattern seen was epithelioid granuloma with caseous necrosis (32.84%) followed by epithelioid granuloma without ca...
