Methods: Ethanolic extract of rhizome turmeric was tested for phytochemical screening by using standard protocol. Antimicrobial testing was using the diffusion disc method to measure the inhibition zone against the Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Candida albicans with various concentration of rhizome turmeric extract (500 mg/mL, 400 mg/mL, 300 mg/mL, 200 mg/mL, 100 mg/mL, 50 mg/mL, 25 mg/mL). Results: Phytochemical screening showed that ethanolic extract of rhizome turmeric contain alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, and triterpenoid/steroid. The antimicrobial inhibition of ethanol extract of rhizome turmeric against Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Candida albicans microbia at a concentration of 500 mg/mL had a diameter of 15.88 mm, 15.63 mm and 15.22 mm with a strong category. Conclusions: rhizome turmeric could be use as a novel antimicrobial agent.

This type of enzyme can be isolated from thermophilic bacteria obtained from hot springs, such as hot springs Rianiate, Samosir. The objectives of this study were to obtain isolates, morphological and biochemical characterization, followed by determining the potential of selected isolates qualitatively. Hot water samples were determined by purposive sampling from two location points, with temperatures 40 °C, 43 °C and 45 °C with a pH of 4. Isolation of thermophilic bacteria using Nutrient Agar (NA) media. There were 12 thermophilic bacterial isolates from two sample locations isolated with the distribution of 2 isolates at 40 °C and 10 isolates at 43 °C, while at 45 °C there were no isolates. The twelve isolates were able to produce an amylase enzyme. The amylase enzyme production was determined by the presence of a clear zone around the colony on the starch agar medium after being dripped with iodine solution. The three isolates that produced the largest clear zone were sp1(2), sp3(1) and sp6, namely 83.1 mm, 79.9 mm and 80.2 mm, respectively. A biochemical test was carried out on isolates with the largest clear zone diameter value. The characterization results showed that the isolate was predicted to belong to the genus Basillus sp. These results indicate that the thermophilic bacteria from the hot springs of Rianiate, Samosir have the potential to produce amylase enzymes.

Methods: The research method was carried out experimentally with the stages of making simplicia, maceration, extract making, phytochemical screening, and antibacterial activity testing. Results: The results of phytochemical screening showed the presence of flavonoids, saponins, tannins, steroids/triterpenoids. The results of the antibacterial activity test showed that the n-hexane extract of P.amboinicus leaves at all concentrations (50%, 25%, 12.5%) had antibacterial activity in the strong category (10-20 mm). Conclusion: The n-hexane extract of P.amboinicus leaves has the potential as an antibacterial with a strong category.

This study aims to identify the content of bioactive compounds and determine their content using GC-MS and determine the potential antibacterial activity against E. coli, S. aureus, S. epidermis, S. typhi, P. acnes from the ethanol extract of nangka leaves (Artocarpus heterophyllus Lam). Screening results showed positive containing phenolic groups, flavonoids, tannins, saponins, and alkaloids. The results of determining the content of bioactive compounds for phenolics, tannins and flavonoids were 27.654±0.054 mg GAE/g d.w ethanolic extract, 0.46±0.017 mg TAE/g d.w ethanolic extract and 2.978±0.192 mg QE/g d.w ethanolic extract. GC-MS analysis showed the content of octadecanoic acid with a retention time of 36.489 minutes with a concentration of 29.91% and the ethanolic extract of nangka l...

(C. amboinicus). Materials and methods. Purification of the ethyl acetate fraction of C. amboinicus using gravity column chromatography with a stationary phase (silica gel, Merck) and a mobile phase with a solvent ratio of n-hexane (Merck) and ethyl acetate (Merck). Examining isolates includes physical (colour, shape, and melting point). Qualitative purity detection by TLC at 254 nm and 366 nm wavelengths. Structural analysis of metabolites with UV-Vis spectrometer (Spectronic 3000, Genesis 10, Japan), FT-IR(KBr) (Shimadzu IR Prestige-21, Japan), NMR spectrometer (JEOL spectrometer, Japan) operating at 500 MHz (1H-NMR) and 125 MHz (13C-NMR), and Shimadzu's GC-MS (QP-2010S Shimadzu, Japan) and determination of potential antioxidant activity using the DPPH method. This community service activity aims to examine and administer anemia drugs or blood boosters to pregnant women and provide education related to anemia and important nutritional intake for pregnant women to prevent risk factors for anemia. A total of 36 pregnant women patients checked themselves, with 12 in the first trimester, 15 in the second trimester, and 9 in the third trimester. A total of 7 people in the first trimester experienced anemia (19.44%), 10 people in the second trimester (27.77%), and 5 people in the third trimester (13.88%). The rest do not have anemia. This can be due to the fact that the intake of balanced nutrition and foods rich in iron is sufficient during pregnancy. Iron intake during pregnancy in the first trimester is recommended at as much as 0.8 mg/day, while in the second and third trimesters, as much a...

The use of antibiotics in the treatment of non-adherent P. aeruginosa infections increases the risk of antibiotic resistance. Efforts to find new antibiotic compounds from plants continue to be carried out. Papaya leaves are widely spread among the public, which are often used as ingredients for vegetables and have antibacterial potential because they contain papain enzymes and a class of flavonoid compounds. The purpose of this study was to analyze the antibacterial activity of the ethanol extract of papaya leaves (Carica papaya Linn.) against P. aeruginosa by finding the value of the Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) and calculating the index activity value against the positive control. The method used in this research is Kirby-Bauer (disc diffusion method) with several variations of the test concentration. The results showed that the diameter of the inhibition zone at a concentration of...

Despite the fact that various therapeutic compounds have shown potential prevention or treatment, no specific medicine has been developed for the COVID-19 pandemic. Natural products have recently been suggested as a possible treatment option for COVID-19 prevention and treatment. This study focused on the potential of Coriander sativum L. (CSL) against COVID-19 based on network pharmacology approach. Interested candidates of CSL were identified by searching accessible databases for protein–protein interactions with the COVID-19. An additional GO and KEGG pathway analysis was carried out in order to identify the related mechanism of action. In the end, 51 targets were obtained through network pharmacology analysis with EGFR, AR, JAK2, PARP1, and CTSB become the core target. CSL may have favorable effects on COVID-19 through a number of important pathways, according to GO and KEGG pathway analyses....
