Intensification of the educational process in institutions of higher education is accompanied by an increase in the mental load on students, leads to a significant reduction in the motor activity of student youth, which negatively affects their health. Such a situation requires the improvement of the current system of physical education in higher education, increasing the motivation of students to engage in physical culture and sports, introducing such types of motor activity of students that would ensure the effective development of physical qualities, contribute to the improvement of the psycho-emotional state. The introduction of modern fitness technologies, in particular, cheerleading, into the physical education of students can contribute to solving the outlined problem. Cheerleading refers to complex coordination types of motor activity. According to experts, cheerleading classes contribute to strengthening health, forming correct posture, developing coordination, flexibility, grace and plasticity; education of musicality and a sense of rhythm, development of the mental sphere of the individual. All this determines the expediency of its use in the physical education of students to improve their physical and psycho-emotional state. The purpose of the study is to investigate the specifics of the effect of sectional cheerleading classes on indicators of the physical and psycho-emotional state of higher education students. Research methods: theoretical analysis and generalization of literary sources; pedagogical observation, pedagogical experiment; methods of determining physical development; pedagogical testing method; differential self-assessment test well-being, activity, mood, methods of mathematical statistics. The results. In order to increase the effectiveness of the process of physical education of students of higher education, to form their motivation for regular physical exercises, the authors developed a program of sectional cheerleading classes and investigated the peculiarities of its influence on indicators of physical development, functional state, physical preparedness and psycho-emotional state of female students. Conclusions. The analysis of the obtained results shows the positive influence of cheerleading classes on the indicators of the physical and psycho-emotional state of the students of higher education.
