Because the injection rate of lifting gas depends on the well production status, the ten-year gas lift schedule is determined by performing the gas lift optimization on a sequential, bi-weekly basis. For each short-term production optimization, the linear programming is solved by considering four operating parameters (e.g., tubing head pressure, bottom hole pressure, oil production rate, and gas lifting rate) which are calculated via high-fidelity reservoir simulation runs. Compared to the constant rate injection case, the optimal injection case increases the cumulative oil production by 14% at the same expenditure. These numerical results indicate that the sequential short-term optimization of the gas lift can be a practical approach towards boosting the asset value of ...

The Arab C4 Zone is approximately 10 to 15 meters thick which corresponds to a time window of less than 20 milliseconds. The reservoir is faulted and the reflection has a poor signal-to-noise ratio. The study utilizes 21 seismic attributes which were derived from a 3-D seismic survey calibrated from 42 wells, 27 of which are deviated. The attributes include different types of amplitudes, complex trace statistics, sequence statistics and frequencies. Three methods are compared: (I) simple kriging using only well data, (II) the neural network technique using 3-D seismic and well data, and (III) cokriging using the output of the neural network technique. Cross validation tests indicate that Method III is not consistently more precise than Method I. Also Method II, in cross-validation tests, demonstrated relatively large d...

It was found that numerous boulders were displaced over the large extent of the eastern part of the source region. It is inferred that the boulders were not displaced by high-frequency seismic waves with frequencies between 5-10 Hz, but by low-frequency seismic waves of about 1 Hz, which radiated from the smooth dislocation on the fault plane. The boulder which experienced the largest ground motions was discovered in the eastern part. The ground motions estimated from the displacement of the boulder have a velocity of 5.5 m/s and an acceleration of 3.5 g in the vertical direction, and a velocity of 3.2 m/s and an acceleration of 2.0 g in the horizontal direction.
