Very often, customer satisfactions were studied by using survey instrument created for measuring customer perception. On the other hand, some researchers believed that customer satisfaction and perception were two different things, and hence separate measuring instrument had to be adopted for different purposes. This study aims to study how satisfaction is related to perception by using the survey instrument, SERVQUAL-TRAMS. The student satisfaction survey questionnaire was designed based on the literature extracted. The perceptions and satisfactions of students were surveyed through administering the questionnaires to 260 transnational engineering students. Linear regression analysis was then performed to identify whether there existed statistically positive relationship between perception and satisfaction data. The results revealed that there was no significant relationship between learning outcome and student satisfaction, but there was significant positive relationship between satisfaction and contributing factors which led to superior student learning experience.

Three semi-structured interviews were held with six participants from the Rohingya community in Malaysia. Responses were analyzed and categorized into three broad sections based on Cultural Historical Activity Theory: environmental impacts on lived experience, the diversity of sociocultural origin within the Rohingya community, and the impact of historical processes on cultural change. It was noted that the Rohingya culture is rich with diverse experiences and origins far beyond its current circumstances. Rohingya youth identify strongly with their experiences of life in Arakan and note that the younger generations missing this experience are less connected with their Rohingya identity. Beyond that, much of the threat to self-perception within the community came from external reductive narratives based only on their plight. In order to establish a constru...

The model took consideration of relevant factors of Activity theory (instruments, rules, community and division of labour) to (1) investigate how it could re-orientate learners’ translation habits, and (2) find out the mitigated challenges encountered by Vietnamese learners. 39 junior students at a public university in Vietnam participated in the study. The research implemented a case study design, using semi-structured interviews to examine in depth the benefits of this flipped setting and its actual challenges. The collected findings revealed that this approach could not only bridge the gaps in the relevant literature of flipped learning, but also could improve learners’ habits to use appropriate translation strategies. Finally, challenges faced by learners during the implementation were minimised, thanks to the systematic structure of the flipp...

The purpose of this paper is to examine behavior of pre-service teachers toward the use of e-learning in a social science subject via technology acceptance model. The dimensions explored were perceived usefulness (PU), perceived ease of use (EU) and their influences on satisfaction (SN) and intention to use (IN) an online modern LMS named Course Networking (thecn.com). Data were elicited via survey approach and analyzed quantitatively to support the investigation. The study involved 69 pre-service teachers pursuing Bachelor of Education program in a public university in Sabah, East Malaysia. The results revealed that there was moderate level of acceptance in the observed PU (mean = 3.82), EU (mean = 3.52), SN (mean = 3.35), and IN (mean = 3.82). A further examination on the relationships showed that PU influenced ...

The THP is a sludge pretreatment process which heats raw sludges to high temperature (150-165 °C) using steam followed by mesophilic digestion. In this study, two different full scale THP sludges were dewatered on two belt filter presses supplied by two different manufacturers. The digested THP sludges had solids concentrations between about 5-7%. The goal of the project was to evaluate the effect of solids loading rates and polymer dosing on cake solids and capture. The results showed the THP sludges dewatered well using BFPs, with cakes solids of 30% or higher easily achieved along with capture rates greater than 99%. This performance was achieved over a broad solids loading rate with 30% cake solids being achieved at loading rates of up to 1000 kg/m-hr. The study also showed that mixing of the polymer and sludge was a critical parameter for achieving good flocculation and dewatering.

The portal aspires to complement the five stages of the writing process that students have to embark on in accomplishing their written coursework. The web portal contains categorized links to evaluated ESL resources useful for ESL writing process, and integrates web 2.0 tools such as blogs (as writing database for learners), discussion board, live chat, bulletin boards and vote polls. The design is based on results from the analysis phase conducted earlier on learners’ attitudes and preferences, and analysis of content and context. It is also inspired to optimize the benefits that each technological tool could offer. To develop the web portal, an open source web development tool Joomla! 2.5...

The study investigates how 40 voluntary student teachers of a public university in Sabah use ICT and multisensory approach to teach English. The study employs The Learner Centric Ecology of Resources Framework (Luckin, 2008) as a guide to observe knowledge scaffolding of students learning. Focus group interviews to elicite qualitative data were done with some selected student teachers who participated in the voluntary teaching job at selected primary school in Kota Belud, Sabah. The results showed that the majority of the student teachers were motivated to teach English using multisensory approach because it helped them to connect English with outside world via visual aids (multimedia). The student teachers’ reflective journals also indicated that they were able to align the ICT materials with the proficiency level of the students, create interactive teaching and learning mat...

Through this community, the teachers learned from one another and collaborated on projects to integrate technology in their language classrooms. In addition to face-to-face meetings, the community members also communicated online through a WhatsApp group chat.
