Winter wheat was first time introduced in Rawalakot to check the adaptability and suitability hence winter wheat varieties had never been tested in the hilly areas of Azad Kashmir. For this purpose, 83 genotypes of wheat were used including six winter wheat check varieties and Pakistan-2013 as local check and intercropping of universal susceptible as spreader. Yellow rust data was taken by using Modified Cobb's scale to assess the disease severity and presence of resistance. Four winter wheat advanced lines 141137, 170915, 170196 and 170917 were found resistant. Analyses of variance have shown significant differences for all parameters apart from spike length, number of spikelets per spike and 1000-grain weight. Principal component analysis revealed 85.43% variability. The cluster analysis divided the genotypes in 5 clusters on the basis of genetic similarity and distance. Fourteen advanced lines were found more diverse and could be utilized in further breeding providing an opportunity for winter wheat to be adopted in this region. And among 14, four resistant genotypes can be used as source of yellow rust resistance in winter wheat and spring wheat breading.

The aim of this survey was to identify, collect, and document significantly distinguishable ethnomedicinal plants and their ethnopharmacological application among the indigenous communities of the Talash Valley, Dir Lower, Pakistan. Materials and Methods: Open-ended and semi-structured interviews, questionnaires, inquiries, and group discussion were conducted from March 2014 to September 2015 to obtain ethnobotanical data from the local herbalist and elder villagers. Quantitatively, the ethnobotanical data were analyzed by using indices, Use Value, Relative frequency of citation, and Informant Agreement Ratio. Results: The study identified a total of 50 medicinal plant species belonging to 33 botanical families and 46 genera in the 17 villages. Lamiaceae with 6 species is the dominant family, and herbs (68%) the main sources of herbal formulations. Leaves (41%) are the main parts for ethnomedicine, and 32% of drug orally administrated in the form of decoction. Conclusion: The Talash Valley is rich in its medicinal plant's flora and the associated traditional knowledge. Ethnomedicine plays an important role in the local healthcare system. The finding of new medicinal uses, recipes; vernacular plant names, using new morphological parts, and harvesting methods in the current study show the importance of the documentation of plant resources and ethnobotanical knowledge. We suggest and recommend that documented plants to be screened for further ethnopharmacological studies.

The adsorbent properties, adsorption behavior, and mechanism were systematically evaluated. The synthesized adsorbent exhibited tremendous performance in a broad range of temperature and pH. Interestingly, the presence of co-existing anions such as NO 3-, SO 4 2-, Cl-, and natural organic matter (NOM) have no considerable effect on the adsorption of uoride from water. The adsorption process was best tted to the pseudo-second order kinetic model and the Langmuir isotherm. The prepared adsorbent exhibited a maximum adsorption capacity of 53.21 mg/g for the uptake of uoride from water. The regeneration results con rmed that adsorbent could retain their original adsorption capacity after ve regeneration cycles. Results from the current study suggested that Ca-doped ferrihydrite has the application potential for the enhanced adsorption of uoride from the water phase.

One of the most important clue to diagnosis of CP is the signs and symptoms of right-sided heart failure that are not completely explained by presence of pulmonary disease or left-ventricular failure. The aim of this study was to assess clinical data presentation and early operative outcomes of pericardiectomy performed for symptomatic chronic constrictive pericarditis who had failed maximal medical therapy. Methodology: A retrospective analysis was carried out of consecutive constrictive pericarditis adult age patients who underwent pericardiectomy procedure from 2002 to 2012. The patients who had intraoperative diagnosis of other then constrictive pericarditis were excluded from further analysis. A total 51 patients were selected for this study. The preoperative assessment, intraoperative findings and postoperative course and outcome such as hospital stay, prolonge ICU stay, post-operative CPV etc. were evaluated. Results: 43 males and 8 females were include in the study among them 41% gave history of previous (TB) and 35% were pediatric patients (teens, as shown less than 19 years). 8 patients had effusive type pericarditis. The preoperative findings revealed dyspnea 54%, Chest Pain 45% and persistent cough 31%. Furthermore, 43% patients had ascites and 41% with pleural effusion. The mean preoperative central venous pressure (CVP) was 20.5 respectively. The post-operative outcome was short hospital stay, the post-operative patients CVP was estimated 13.5 and the mean drop of CVP due to pericardiectomy was estimated 7 respectively. Conclusion: The conclusive findings of our study revealed that among the patients of symptomatic chronic tuberculous CP, the timely pericardiectomy attempt can effectively improve the hemodynamics of the patient. The early pericardiectomy can also reduce the morbidity and mortality rate of these patients.

Methods: The study included 114 eyes of 114 patients who underwent PR for rhegmatogenous retinal detachment and required subsequent surgery for its repair. These included repeated PR, scleral buckling, vitrectomy with gas or silicone oil, and vitrectomy with scleral buckling. The groups were compared for rates of retinal reattachment, visual improvement, and the occurrence of recurrent rhegmatogenous retinal detachment and any other postoperative complications. Results: In 91 (79.8%) eyes, the retina was reattached with one additional procedure. The success rate was significantly lower in eyes treated by repeated PR than by other surgical techniques (33 vs. 76-90%; P , 0.001). Visual acuity after PR failure was not significantly different than that at presentation and had improved significantly after surgery for retinal reattachment (P , 0.001). Conclusion: Pneumatic retinopexy failure was not associated with visual acuity loss, and the outcomes in 79.2% of cases that required only one additional surgery are comparable with those achieved with primary surgery. Poor outcomes were associated with eyes that required more than one additional surgery and that suffered complications.

Approximately one-third of patients with epilepsy have seizures that are resistant to antiepileptic medications. Clinical trials for the treatment of medically refractory epilepsy have mostly focused on new drug treatments, and result in a significant portion of subjects whose seizures remain refractory to medication. The off-label use of cannabis sativa plant in treating seizures is known since ancient times. The active ingredients of this plant are delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD), the latter considered safer and more effective in treating seizures, and with less adverse psychotropic effects. Clinical trials prior to two years ago have shown little to no significant effects of cannabis in reducing seizures. These trials seem to be underpowered, with a sample size less than 15. In contrast, more recent studies that have inc...

AKI has its systemic sequelae and contributes to the morbidity of underlying diseases. Methods This descriptive case series aimed to determine the frequency of acute kidney injury in critically ill patients admitted to the ICU at Shifa International Hospital, Islamabad, according to the RIFLE (risk, injury, failure, loss, and end-stage) criteria. A total of 124 patients were enrolled in this study. RIFLE criteria were applied to determine the frequency of AKI in critically ill patients. Results The frequency of AKI was 68.55% and mortality was 18.55%. The severity of AKI was found to be significantly associated with mortality (p < 0.001). Conclusion AKI is very common in critically ill patients and contributes to the mortality and morbidity of the patients. Early identification of AKI can reduce mortality in critically ill patients.

Some of these incidents caused a sizable number of human causalities. Probably the failure to follow the right code of ethics caused these incidents. Electrical engineering professionals face several ethical-related problems which are costly, harmful and affect high ratio of people. Organizations provide codes of ethics to help the engineers to understand and manage their ethical responsibilities. Islam considers ethics as an important factor to train individuals, communities and society. Islamic ethics are set of moral principles and guidance that recognizes what is right and what is wrong. The Quran is replete with clear messages about ethics. This research paper intends to highlight the Islamic ethics for solving an ethical dilemma.

But Unions also have social and developmental roles. Several studies have shown that unions also have rendered services beyond collective bargaining. This study is focused to explore the role of labor unions in protection of environment through workers training and education and awareness about environment problems, which is much away from their definitional mandate.
