Various concentrations of AuCl 3 solution were dropped on the random network SWCNT transistors, where the doping effect was confirmed by I-V g characteristics and a blue shift in the Raman G band. The AuCl 3 -doped SWCNT transistor was highly sensitive to water vapor in the I-V g curve, especially in the positive gate bias region, compared with the undoped SWCNT transistors. We also found the selective response of water from ambient gases, such as O 2 and N 2 , in AuCl 3 -doped SWCNTs. This investigation could be beneficial for high-performance water sensor applications. Supporting Information Available: Linear I-V g curves with different doping concentrations ( ) and X-ray photoemission spectroscopy (XPS) analysis on AuCl 3 -doped SWCNTs ( ). Research paper thumbnail of Parent-Child Value Transmission Among Chinese Immigrants to North America: The Case of Traditional Mate Preferences

Adult children (n ϭ 63) rated their preferred mate characteristics. Children then completed measures of interdependence, family allocentrism, Chinese identity, and Asian values. Their parents (n ϭ 63) also rated their own preferences for their child's spouse and their own Asian values. Parents reported greater preference for traditional mate characteristics than did their children. Parents' preferences were related to parents' own Asian values. Children's traditional mate preferences were predicted by their parents' preferences and their own family allocentrism. Family allocentrism was a marginally significant partial mediator of parent's influence on children's preferences. Family connectedness may, therefore, facilitate intergenerational transmission of values in immigrant Asian families.

Research paper thumbnail of A survey and taxonomy of approaches for mining software repositories in the context of software evolution

In particular, this survey deals with those investigations that examine multiple versions of software artifacts or other temporal information. A taxonomy is derived from the analysis of this literature and presents the work via four dimensions: the type of software repositories mined (what), the purpose (why), the adopted/invented methodology used (how), and the evaluation method (quality). The taxonomy is demonstrated to be expressive (i.e., capable of representing a wide spectrum of MSR investigations) and effective (i.e., facilitates similarities and comparisons of MSR investigations). Lastly, a number of open research issues in MSR that require further investigation are identified. Copyright

The synthesis of the material involves two steps of crystallisation, including the formation of ZSM-5 zeolite seed and mesoporous structure. The effect of crystallisation time on the formation of mesoporous structure was studied in the range 0–40 h. Samples were characterised by X-ray diffraction,

The data of the four collaborations are statistically combined and examined for their consistency with the background hypothesis and with a possible Higgs boson signal. The combined LEP data show no significant excess of events which would indicate the production of Higgs bosons. The search results are used to set upper bounds on the cross-sections of various Higgs-like event topologies. The results are interpreted within the MSSM in a number of “benchmark” models, including CP-conserving and CP-violating scenarios. These interpretations lead in all cases to large exclusions in the MSSM parameter space. Absolute limits are set on the parameter cosβ and, in some scenarios, on the masses of neutral Higgs bosons.

Research paper thumbnail of The Sweetpotato Production-Postharvest Use System in Vietnam: Participatory Needs and Opportunity Assessment

Sweetpotato (Ipomoea batatas (L.) Lam) production data showed that the greatest opportunity for increased profitability from sweetpotato was in more effective and efficient use of existing technologies. That implied the development of farmer learning methods and mechanisms rather than technology development research. A follow-up workplan for the development and institutionalization of adapted integrated crop management (ICM) farmer field school (FFS) protocols for sweetpotato resulted from the study. Moreover, research and extension organizations committed themselves to implement the workplan. The participatory nature of the study has been instrumental in achieving the final output.
