Road traffic accidents, sport-related injury, and fall constitutes most common causes for the facial injury. Incidence of the facial fractures is comparatively higher in boys than in girls. In the management of the maxillofacial fractures in pediatric patients, we have to take into consideration the variation in anatomy and physiology between children and adults, as well as the particular stage of growth and dental development. Treatment options can vary from closed reduction to open reduction and internal fixation. In this article, the authors successfully managed the pediatric mandibular fractures by performing bridle wiring with the help of an orthodontic ligature wire.

Materials and methods: The Carisolv system for caries removal, consisting of a solvent gel and a specially designed hand instrument, as compared to the conventional method of caries removal, i.e., Airotor. Sixty patients in the age-group of 6-14 years, having Black's class I dentinal caries with the cavity in the molars, were enrolled for the study. Results: The time for caries removal with Carisolv and Airotor was, respectively, 7.17 ± 1.57 and 8.00 ± 1.56 minutes. Thus, the mean time taken was also significantly higher in group II as compared to group I (t = 4.805; p < 0.001).

Adenomatoid odontogenic tumor is a benign tumor, most common in the maxilla, characterized by slow, progressive, painless growth of firm consistency, the size of which usually does not reach large proportions. They are of three types: extrafollicular, follicular, and peripheral. It usually develops around or overlaps adjacent teeth. How to cite this article Katiyar A, Gupta S, et al. It is asymptomatic, nonaggressive, slow growing, and benign nature. They are considered to be the malformations of the dental tissue and can sometimes interfere with the eruption of the associated tooth leading to its impaction or delayed eruption. Complex odontomas in primary teeth are rare and unusually diagnosed before the second decade of life. This article aims to present the case of a child with complex odontoma and its effective treatment planning. The results indicate that early diagnosis and proper treatment planning can ensure a better prognosis and can prevent later craniofacial complications and other developmental problems.

The impaction of the maxillary permanent central incisors is not frequently reported in dental pr... more The impaction of the maxillary permanent central incisors is not frequently reported in dental practice, but when present, it can have a major impact on the dental and facial esthetics. It is regarded as unattractive and may affect the self esteem and general social interaction of the child. This article presents a case with an unerupted maxillary central incisor which was diagnosed radiographically with an impacted dilacerated maxillary central incisor. The dilacerated impacted maxillary central incisor poses a clinical dilemma, but can be successfully managed by surgical and orthodontic approach to get the best functional and esthetic results.

The general public and some law enforcement may consider any “bite mark” case they develop to be a certainty in the quest to identify the biter. The ability of skin to register sufficient detail of a biter's teeth is highly variable. Bite mark casework indicates that many bite marks are not well defined in detail and posses distortion due to the physical nature of skin itself.

Traditional dental treatments continue to be refined to improve the prognosis when treating the posterior dentition. Daily treatment-planning decisions involve consideration of local host factors as well as limitations in specific therapeutic approaches. Objectives: The aim of this article is to present a case report of management of periapical abscess of mandibular right first molar associated with furcation involvement utilizing metapex followed by conventional root canal treatment. Results: Patient was evaluated after filling of canals with metapex every three months for one year. Radiographic examination showed healing of furcation defect as well as resolution of periapical radiolucencies. Clinical evaluation revealed reduction of tooth mobility. Discussion: The case was diagnosed as periapical abscess with furcation involvement. The suggested treatment of periapical abscess with furcation involvement by placement of metapex followed by conventional root canal treatment of the involved tooth could result in complete healing of tooth which was considered hopeless.

Material & Methods: The sample size included 2913 school children aged 8 to 12 years from 30 both private and government schools. Simple random sampling technique was used to draw the sample. To record teeth injuries; the classification of Ellis (Ellis et al 1970), as modified by Holland (Holland et al 1988) was used. Descriptive statistical analysis was carried out in the present study. Chi-Square Test and Z-test for a proportion (Binomial distribution) was used during statistical analysis. P values P  0.05were considered statistically significant. Results: The study shows prevalence of 10.57% of traumatic injuries to anterior teeth among 8-12 years old school going children (prevalence of 8.25% at the age of 8 years which reached to 14.12%% at the age of 12 years...
