ABSTRACT Vorliegende Arbeit gibt in Dimension n=2 eine positive Antwort auf folgende alte Frage: ... more ABSTRACT Vorliegende Arbeit gibt in Dimension n=2 eine positive Antwort auf folgende alte Frage: Ist eine eigentliche holomorphe Abbildung f:D→D ' zwischen Gebieten D, D ' ⊂ℂ n mit glatten, reell-analytischen Rändern holomorph auf eine Umgebung von D ¯ fortsetzbar. Anders als im pseudokonvexen Fall werden hier die sogenannten Segre-Varietäten zum Beweis ausgenutzt. Zuerst wird gezeigt, daß sich f lokal als eigentliche holomorphe Korrespondenz über D ¯ hinaus fortsetzen läßt. Der Beweis obiger Aussage folgt dann mit folgendem Ergebnis: Ist f:D→D ' als eigentliche holomorphe Korrespondenz in eine Umgebung eines Randpunktes a∈∂D fortsetzbar, so ist f selbst als holomorphe Abbildung über a hinaus fortsetzbar. Der hier gegebene Beweis benutzt nicht das von vom 1. Autor, J. E. Fornaess und Z. Ye [J. Geom. Anal. 4, No. 4, 539-552 (1994)] gefundene schwächere Resultat, wo vorausgesetzt wurde, daß f biholomorph ist und sich zu einem Homeomorphismus auf D ¯ fortsetzen läßt.

We consider the following question: Let p : Y → X be an unbranched Riemann domain and assume that... more We consider the following question: Let p : Y → X be an unbranched Riemann domain and assume that X is a Stein space and p is a Stein morphism. Does it follow that Y is Stein ? We show that the answer is affirmative if X has isolated singularities. This generalizes a result of Andreotti and Narasimhan.
