Hymenopterans are ecological indicators. Studies on diversity and distribution of fauna are prerequisite of biodiversity conservation. In the present study attempt has been made to enlist Wasps and Bees in four different areas of Kota: Karani mata, C.V. garden, Bhitariya Kund and Yatayat Park. The study was conducted from September 2014 to August 2016. Present investigation revealed the presence of 17 species of Hymenoptera belonging to 5 families (Apidae, Xylocopidae, Sphecidae, Megachilidae, Halictidae). In the study area the most dominant family was Sphecidae (7 species) and Apidae (5 species) followed by Halictidae (2 species), Xylocopidae (2 species) and Megachilidae (1 species). The abundance of species was also recorded. Out of the 17 species recorded in 4 survey areas 6 species are abundant, 9 species are occasional and 2 species are rare in study site. The study indicates a rich and diverse fauna in the survey area.

Various insecticides can be used to control the Sitophilus oryzae. But chemical pesticides are harmful for the humans and livestock. Use of Biopesticides reduces the health hazards and do not harm the environment. Plant products are easily available and are economic too. In the present investigation two commonly available leaves viz Eucalyptus and Mentha are used as Botanical. In the present investigation petroleum ether extract of Eucalyptus sp. and Mentha sp. are used against Sitophilus oryzae. Both extracts provided promising results to control the Sitophilus oryzae in wheat.

Sitophilus oryzae is the major pest of stored grains. Insecticides can be used to protect the grain from infestation of insects. But synthetic pesticides lead to health hazards. So Biopesticides are required for grain storage purpose. Seed extracts of some plants possess insecticidal properties. In this investigation seed extract of Annona squamosa, Glycine max, Helianthus annus and Ricinus Communis are used against rice weevil, Sitophilus oryzae. All the four seed extracts proved promising for control of Sitophilus oryzae.

Both the adult and larval stages destroy the grain by boring into it and reducing it to husk. The grain loss is huge therefore an eco-friendly approach to control the pest is needed. Plant products are a good solution. Seed extracts of Annona squamosa, Glycine max, Ricinus communis and Helianthus annus were used for control of pest. In the evaluation of residual toxicity it was observed that the seed extract of sunflower (Helianthus annus) was most effective and protects the wheat grain up to 90 days of treatment (90 DAT).

Wasps and bees both play important roles in ecosystem. The present study forms a part of evaluation of hymenopteran fauna (wasps and bees) in selected areas of Kota. And provides information about a good assemblage of species of wasps and bees in Kota, Rajasthan. The present study was performed in two chosen sites. Site 1 was Government College Kota Campus, Kota and Site 2 was Herbal Park, Kota. The study was conducted from January 2019 to May 2019. A total of 11 species of wasps and bees belonging to 6 families were observed and identified during the study from both the sites. 9 of them were identified up to species level and 2 up to genus level. Out of 11 species identified, 4 were of bees and rest 7 were of wasps. Species were also classified as abundant, occasional and rare based on field observations. 4 species of them were abundant, 4 species were occasional and 3 species were rare. Results of college campus show that, among bees, Family Apidae was most dominant with highest number of individuals and Apis dorsata Fabricius was most abundant; and among wasps, Family Vespidae was most abundant and Polistes hebraeus was most abundant species. Results of Herbal Park show that, among bees, Family Apidae was most dominant with highest number of individuals and Apis dorsata Fabricius was most abundant species; and among wasps, Family Scoliidae and Family Vespidae were dominant with highest number of individuals and Polistes hebraeus was most abundant species. Apis dorsata Fabricius and Polistes hebraeus were found abundant in both the sites. At last, Diversity indices were calculated to compare species richness and evenness in both the selected sites. Simpson's index of diversity and Shannon-Weiner Index were calculated for both the sites. The results showed that diversity indices were higher for site 2: Herbal Park, Kota than for site 1: Government College Kota Campus, Kota.
