This hard task is known as simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM). To overcome this problem, many approaches have been proposed based on a variety of sensors. The most popular are those based on monocular vision. But practically all the monocular SLAMs (Mono SLAM) suffer from the scale drift due to the difficulty of depth estimation. To avoid this limitation, the use of a second sensor is crucial to retrieving a metric pose to navigate safely. The Mono-SLAM problem has been resolved by many authors as a problem of filtering or optimization. In this paper, we propose a new SLAM scheme based on a robust filter named Smooth Variable Structure Filter (SVSF). The main advantage of our solution compared to previous solutions is the use of an Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) associated with a single camera. The different results of the IMU-Mono-SLAM obtained from simulation and experimentation on a well-known dataset prove the reliability, robustness, and accuracy of the proposed solution (SVSF-SLAM) compared to the classical approach (EKF-SLAM).

This method uses a fuzzy logic controller applied to a DC-DC converter device. The different steps of the design of this controller are presented together with its simulation. Results of this simulation are compared to those obtained by the perturbation and observation controller. They show that the fuzzy logic controller exhibits a much better behaviour.

The system is composed of a PV array feeding RL load through a dc-dc boost converter and three-phase inverter. To assess the system performance, simulations based on hybrid co-simulation approach are performed. At the outset, the PV model is elaborated using Pspice, verified and compared with experimental data picked up from the measurement. Two maximum power point tracker (MPPT) techniques, Perturb and observe (P&O) and Incremental Conductance (IncCond) are used to drive the boost converter in order to get the maximum power from the PV array. An innovative harmonic elimination pulse width modulation (HEPWM) technique with very high performance is used to generate the gating signals and to drive the inverter stage. Simulations are carried out and good results were obtained, in term of PV extracted power point of view as well as the AC output waveforms quality.

In fact, we present a new alternative for improving both the performance of photovoltaic (PV) systems and the efficiency of the energy conversion by using different configuration of power converters. It provides different improvements on the electrical architecture and evaluation of shading effect . In fact, for this latter we use two configurations, the series and the parallel connection of a converter that involves a major power transfer capability. For this purpose, a comparative study between two con fi gurations is carried out. These two topologies have some advantages. Each power converter can control the power conversion of each module individually, which results in increased overall energy conversion of the entire system. The MPPT control system in this case can react effectively to atmospheric ...

In robotics and in many other applications, computer vision, object recognition and object tracki... more In robotics and in many other applications, computer vision, object recognition and object tracking have been subject to a lot of active research with many different approaches and interesting results. In our project, we consider the automatic target-tracking problem in order to find an efficient and useful method for UAV. We use AR.Drone 2.0 as the air platform for tracking a target. In order to guarantee that the AR.Drone can recognize the target for correctly, QR code and ar_track_alvar are used as the target marker. The control of the drone is done using Robot Operating System (ROS). In this paper, we present the tracking-target control law based on a fuzzy logic controller. Input to the fuzzy logic controller is the information acquired from the cameras. Obtained information from vision system can be easily fitted fuzzy logic rules. The proposed algorithm is based on a small number of input parameters, what results in low requirements of computational power. The algorithm was checked during simulation studies. Simulation results prove the efficiency of the proposed intelligent control strategy.

It has a large number of remote small villages and islands that lack in the electricity, and probability of connecting them with the high voltage gridlines in the near future is very poor due to financial and technical constraints. This paper proposes the use of a PV, wind and diesel generator hybrid system with storage element in order to determine the optimal configuration of renewable energy in ALGERIA. The principals' interests of this system are the independence production, and the supplying of electric energy in isolated localities. Have at one's the energetic and economic models, and simulation tools, we effected an optimization study based on mixed productions. For this approach, the energetic resources of sites where are implanted telecommunications systems and their consumption are supposed known. Then the problem is the optimization of electric generators using these resources, enable to have an optimal type system for the powering of telecommunications equipments in rural site of Algeria. Homer (hybrid optimization model for electric renewable) simulation software was used to determine the technical feasibility of the system and to perform the economical analysis of the system.
This paper presents a maximum power point tracking (MPPT) technique for photovoltaic (PV) system ... more This paper presents a maximum power point tracking (MPPT) technique for photovoltaic (PV) system based on accelerated particle swarm optimisation (APSO) algorithm. The main purpose is to handle the multi-modal P-V characteristic curve under partial shading conditions. The APSO based MPPT has the advantages to be simple and accurate to track the global maximum power point (GMPP) under severe partial shading patterns. The simulation results have shown that the proposed technique can find the GMPP with high speed and efficiency and presents good dynamic behaviour. In addition, this technique is superior than the conventional Perturb and Observe (P&O) based MPPT in global peak tracking.

It is an adequate solution for embedded systems. The previous works on the elaboration of binary descriptor did not exploit all information brought by a patch. The authors used just the pixel intensities to generate a binary test, so these descriptors lack efficiency on patch description. In this paper, we design a new descriptor named Geometric Model Descriptor (GMD) based on intensity and geometric coordinate of the pixel. We divide the patch into a grid cell (sub-patches); then each sub-patch is augmented in dimension (being 3D) by considering the intensity as the third dimension rather than its two dimensions (2D) form. Based on geometric modeling (polynomial interpolation and Bezier curve), we interpolate the cloud of points to find an approximation of the geometric model for each sub-patch. A binary test will be performed between the coefficients of sub-patch models to generate the patch description. The deep evaluation of GMD on a benchmark data set shows a high discrimination in the presence of similarity. The GMD exhibits robustness and reliability against severe changes. A computation costing is reported in the results section by presenting a compromise between accuracy and real-time constraint.
