As a minimum requirement, each teacher-student must have experience to conduct a sophisticated Classroom Action Research (CAR). This assumption stimulates a question to answer further, "What sorts of methodologically failures are demonstrated by teacher's college students in conducting CARs?" Researchers as the main instrument in this study develop theoretical criteria form based on prominent works of Susanto (2010), Hult and Lennung (1980), McKernan (1991), Kemmis and McTaggart (1992), Winter's (1996), andMcNiff (2002) to frame the analysis. Data is taken from selected works stored in a library of a teacher's college in Nusa Tenggara Barat, by employing two criteria to students' works (mini-thesis), i.e. year of publication is 2015 and marked with 'A' from internal examination board of the college. These criteria constrain only two scripts to be further analyzed. By applying content analysis, this study reveals various kinds of methodological failure in students' works about CAR, i.e. (1) violation to collaborative principle of CAR, (2) violation to the four characteristics of CAR (situational, participatory, evaluative, and cooperative), (3) the use of learners' achievement as benchmark of success, (4) developed in quantitative study, (5) failure in positioning the researcher as a teacher or collaborator, and (6) failure in the construction of lesson plans.

As a minimum requirement, each teacher-student must have experience to conduct a sophisticated Classroom Action Research (CAR). Within this skill, a teacher-student is expected to grasp various challenges that may occur in learning, therefore to take necessary actions in order to improve the quality of learning. Hence, this paper is composed due to an assumption occurred in a preliminary study that students in English language teaching department have demonstrated numbers of methodologically failures in conducting CARs.

This study employed a quasi-experimental research design. The samples consisted of two classes in which one class was treated by using genre-based instructional (GBI) model and the second class was subjected to the process-based instruction (PBI) model. The writing test and creativity test were functioned as research instruments to collect the data in both classes. The data were analyzed by using the multifactor analysis of variance (ANOVA). The research finding informed that the GBI model was more effective than the PBI model. It was proved with the value of sig. (0.008) was lower than sig. level 0.05. Thus, students having high creativity have better writing achievement than those who have low creativity and it was proved with the value of sign (0.000) was lower than sig. level 0.05. It means that the effect of instructional model and writing skills rests on the level of students' creativity. The finding indicates that there is significant interaction between instructional model being applied and creativity in the teaching of writing skills.

The kind of this study was procedural research (R&D) design. This study was preceded with the development phases and continued by field-testing. The field-testing was conducted by using a quasi-experimental method to know the effectiveness of the developed learning model. The sample included 64 students. The students were divided into two groups and each group consisted of 32 students. One group was the experimental group taught by suing the ILL model and the other group was the control group taught by implementing the conventional learning model. The mean score of students taught by ILL model was 80.34 and those taught by conventional one was 69.97. The data were defined as normal and homogeneous data because the value of sig. was higher than sig. level 0.05. Based on the ANOVA test, the value of sig. (0,000) was lower than the sig. level 0.05. It means there is a significantly different achievement of students taught using an ILL model rather than the conventional learning model. The result informed ILL model was more effective than the conventional one in the teaching of writing skills.

This study is a quasi-experimental research with a nonequivalent group design. Two classes were taken as the sample by using cluster random sampling. One class, as an experimental class, was taught by using the ECOLA technique. Another class, as a control class, was taught by employing the brainstorming technique. To attain the data, instruments in the form of a reading test and the questionnaires were employed. Afterwards, the data were analyzed by using Multifactor Analysis of Variance (Two Way ANOVA). The finding of this study showed that; (1) the ECOLA technique was more effective than the brainstorming technique in teaching reading comprehension; (2) there was the difference of reading achievement of students taught using the ECOLA technique viewed from the motivation and self-efficacy and it was indicated by the value of sig. (0.001) and (0.004); and (3) there was the interaction between ECOLA technique and self-efficacy towards students' reading comprehension but there was no interaction between the technique and motivation. In addition, there was no significant interaction between the technique, motivation, and selfefficacy because it was indicated by the value of sig (0.302) was higher than significant level 0.05. To improve students' reading comprehension, the ECOLA technique is recommended and the attention of moderate variables is encouraged.

This study was aimed at developing the model of the metacognitive writing strategy to improve prospective teachers' writing skills viewed from critical thinking skills in Indonesian higher education. To attain the research aim, the research and development (R&D) study was employed. The stages of R&D design included defining, designing, developing, and disseminating. To attest to the effectiveness of the metacognitive writing strategy, the researcher used a quasi-experimental design in the form of pre-test and post-test control group design. The prospective teachers were divided into two groups, the experimental and control group. The experimental group was treated using the metacognitive writing strategy, while the control group was taught using the conventional strategy. The instruments of collecting data used the metacognitive writing test and critical thinking test. Then, the data were analysed using descriptive and inferential statistical devices. The results of the study showed that the metacognitive writing strategy can help prospective teachers to regulate their learning activities in terms of what and how to write in the class. At the top of that, they are able to compose good exposition texts. It was proven that the average score of learners in the experimental class was higher than those on the control class. The research findings were elaborated in the research discussion.
