As innovations diffuse based on situational and environmental characteristics, existing research may not generalise to hospitality organisations. Further, lnternet tourism research is at an embryonic stage in developing countries such as Malaysia. In addition to existing business strategy and organisational characteristics, this framework includes domain name age as a temporal measure of Internet adoption. Practically, the stages suggest pragmatic Internet use for hoteliers. Academically, this paper adds to the paucity of research on Internet tourism in developing countries, and proposes extending Miles and Snow's typology to hotels, the online environment and DOI research.

The paper exemplifies the use of concept mapping during the analysis of qualitative research data, and demonstrates the advantage of concept mapping to derive a grounded theory by highlighting the macrostructure of the research data. Concept mapping serves here to construct new knowledge within the framework of research data analysis and it functions as a model map, in which the map represents existing information and enables the emergence of new understandings and models. 1

We propose, based on Flower and Hayes’ (1981) writing model, that there is value to instructing students, in the planning stage of writing, in employing concept mapping techniques: to elicit prior knowledge and brainstorm an issue, to organize ideas, and to develop writing plans. We present an intervention study to evaluate these ideas. It appears that concept mapping instruction and application during pre-writing contributed to the accessing and use of prior knowledge for written essays and improved their rhetorical structure in comparison to a control instruction.

The purposes of this project were to enhance the professional growth of the pre-service teachers and to concomitantly advance emotional, social and academic goals for the participating adolescents. Each of ten student teachers mentored one pupil with severe learning disabilities via e-mail. The student-teachers also engaged in an electronic discussion forum with their student-teacher peers, their field supervisor and their college-professor. This paper focuses on the contribution of electronic communication to the training of pre-service teachers in four areas: (1) elevating their self-efficacy beliefs, (2) deepening their understanding of adolescents with learning disabilities, (3) practicing collaboration among pre-service student teachers and (4) enhancement of their skills with electronic communication tools.

The findings reveal that the ICT integration process is characterized by a topdown process of organizational change initiated by the Ministry of Education, but in the colleges, the process has not been led by systemic organizational change. Most faculty members implement basic ICT uses, while only few use technology to create change in their teaching methods. Most pre-service teachers enter college equipped with basic ICT skills as well as positive attitudes towards ICT integration in learning and teaching, but teacher training programs do not provide them with adequate skills and competencies to teach with technology in their classrooms. The dynamics of ICT integration in the last few years is characterized by...

The change in motivation is reflected in students' learning to attribute their achievements to their own educational efforts and to the use of appropriate learning strategies. The article exemplifies this procedure with dialogue pages of a typically achieving learner and a student with learning disabilities.

Several studies have focused on the relations between such awareness and reading acquisition. This body of research can be classified into studies examining correlational, predictive and causal relationships between phonological awareness and reading acquisition.

Two hundred and five students received a battery of tests evaluating their general knowledge, skills in applying four reading strategies (summary, self-questioning, clarification and prediction), and two reading comprehension tests. The findings revealed differential contributions of general knowledge and strategy application to reading comprehension. Compared with the academic students, semi-academics have deficient strategic skills. Vocational students, in addition to deficient strategic skills, have poor general knowledge, which further impedes their reading comprehension. The deficiency of students with learning disabilities goes beyond these two components. These results led us to recommend different foci of comprehension intervention for each group.
