The effects of the addition of ionic liquids (ILs) to the membrane phase on the potentiometric pr... more The effects of the addition of ionic liquids (ILs) to the membrane phase on the potentiometric properties of strontium-selective electrodes were investigated. The studies were carried out with plasticized PVC membranes doped with bis[(trifluoromethyl)sulfonyl]amides. The electrode basic analytical parameters, such as detection limit, linear range, slope characteristics, response time and dependence of the electrode potential on pH as well as selectivity coefficients in relation to some inorganic cations were determined. As follows from the studies the addition of ILs to the membrane phase improved the analytical parameters of the studied electrodes, especially the improvement in selectivity was notable.

The electrode have been used for ketoprofen determination in the range 25.43-25430 microg/mL.

An ion-selective membrane electrode was prepared based on ion-pair complex of naproxen with methy... more An ion-selective membrane electrode was prepared based on ion-pair complex of naproxen with methyltrioctylammonium. Its basic analytical parameters such as: slope characteristics, measuring range, detection limit, response time, life time were determined. The electrode showed Nernstian response from the 10(-1) to 10(-4) mol l(-1) concentration range and 5.5-8.5 pH range, low limit of detection 5 x 10(-5) mol l(-1) and short response time--20s. Selectivity was good over a number of organic and inorganic anions. The electrode was applied for the determination of naproxen tablets in aqueous solutions by the calibration curve method and standard addition method.

The electrode membrane phase contains 1-heksyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate (HMImPF 6) as lipophilic ionic additive. The electrode shows a Nernstian response for lead ions over a wide concentration range (1x10-8-1x10-1 mol L-1) and the slope of 28.1 mV/decade. The limit of detection is 2.3x10-9 mol L-1. It has a fast response time of 5-7 s and can be used more than 2 months without any divergence in potential. The proposed sensor is not pH sensitive in the range 4.0-6.9 and shows a very good discriminating ability towards Pb 2+ ion in comparison with some alkali, alkaline earth, transition and heavy metal ions. It was successfully applied as an indicator electrode in potentiometric titration of lead ions with K 2 CrO 4 and for direct determination of Pb 2+ ions in real sample solution.

The ionic liquids (ILs) alkyl methyl imidazolium chlorides are used as lipophilic ionic additive to the membrane phase and as transducer media. The basic analytical parameters of the studied electrodes, such as the slope characteristic, the detection limit, response time, lifetime, selectivity coefficients against various inorganic cations as well as the dependence of the electrodes potential on pH were determined. The obtained electrode are characterized by good analytical parameters: theoretical characteristic slope, low detection limit, short response time and very long lifetime. The electrodes was successfully applied to the direct determination of lead, cadmium and zinc ions in waste water samples. The results obtained indicate that the electrodes provide a good alternative for the determination of these heavy metals in real samples.

Indomethacin membrane sensors based on different plasticizers and quaternary ammonium salt tetrao... more Indomethacin membrane sensors based on different plasticizers and quaternary ammonium salt tetraoctylammonium 1-(p-chlorobenzoyl)5-methoxy-2-methyl-3-indolylacetate (INDO-TOA) were prepared. The electrode (with PVC membrane plasticized with dibutylphthalate) response to indomethacin has the sensitivity near Nernstian (-59.8±1.5 mV decade-1) over the linear range of 1x10-5 ÷ 1x10-2 mol L-1 and limit of detection 3.16x10-6 mol L-1. The present electrodes show clear discrimination of indomethacin ions from several inorganic, organic and some common drug excipients. This electrode has a response time 12 s and can be used in the pH range 6.0÷10.0. The notably property and attractive quality of the indomethacin sensor is low cost, comfortable application.

For the electrode construction ionic liquids (ILs), alkylmethylimidazolium chlorides are used as transducer media. The addition of ionic liquid to the membrane phase was found to improve the analytical parameters of the studied electrodes. The best results were obtained for electrode having membrane doped with 1-ethyl-3-methyl imidazolium chloride. The electrode shows a Nernstian response for copper ions over a wide concentration range (1x10-7-1x10-1 mol L-1) and the slope of 28.9 mV/decade. The limit of detection is 3.2x10-8 mol L-1. It has a fast response time of 5-10 s and can be used for more than 4 months without any divergence in potential. The proposed sensor is not pH sensitive in the range 2.5-6.0 and shows a very good discriminating ability towards Cu 2+ ion in comparison with some alkali, alkaline earth, transition and heavy metal ions.

Several plasticized poly(vinyl)chloride membranes of different composition were tested and the best electrode based on tetraoctylammonium 1-( p-chlorobenzoyl) 5-methoxy-2-methyl-3-indolylacetate with membrane plasticized with diisobutylphthalate was selected. The electrode shows the sensitivity near Nernstian (-58.7 mV decade<sup>-1</sup>) over the linear range of 5×10<sup>-6</sup>-1×10<sup>-2</sup> molL<sup>-1</sup> and limit of detection 2.5×10<sup>-6</sup> molL<sup>-1</sup>. The present electrode exhibits clear discrimination of indomethacin ions from several inorganic, organic, and some common drug excipients. This electrode has a response time of 9 s and can be used in the pH range 5.5-10 in the period of time 2.5 months without any considerable deterioration. The notably property and attractive quality of the indomethacin sensor are high sensitivity, selectivity, low cost, and comfortable application in drugs analysis. Furthermore, it can be used even in the presence of β-cyclodextrin at a concentration below 1×10<sup>-2</sup> molL<sup>-1</sup>.

The studies were carried out with plasticized PVC membranes doped with several new acidic chelating ionophores. The electrode basic analytical parameters, such as measurement range, slope characteristics, detection limit, response time and selectivity coefficients in relation to some inorganic cations in the presence and absence of surfactants, were investigated. As follows from the studies, the presence of surfactants in the sample is responsible first of all for the increase in response time and in detection limit, and a decrease in the characteristic slope as well as reduction of electrode selectivity.

The membranes were plasticized with bis(2 ethylhexyl)sebacate, (DOS), dibutylphthalate (DBP) diisobu tylphthalate (DIBP), tris(2 ethylhexyl) phosphate (TEHP), and 2 nitrophenyloctyl ether (o NPOE) in which the active substance tetraoctylammonium 3 benzoyl α methylbenzeneacetate (KET TOA) was dissolved. The basic analytical parameters of the ketoprofen electrode such as measuring range, detection limit, response time, lifetime, and selectivity coefficients for some organic and inorganic anions were determined. For all electrodes similar potentiometric responses were obtained: measuring range 1 × 10-4 ⎯1 × 10-1 M, and Nernstian slope of characteristics of about 55-60 mV/decade. The electrode was used to determine ketoprofen in the synthetic sample and pharmaceutical preparations, in injections, tablets and capsules in the concentration range of 0.025⎯25 mg/mL in aqueous solution at pH 5.5-8.5.

Ibuprofen membrane electrodes based on different plasticizers: diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP), o-nit... more Ibuprofen membrane electrodes based on different plasticizers: diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP), o-nitrophenyloctyl ether (o-NPOE), dioctyl sebacate (DOS) and tetraoctylammonium 2-(4-isobutylphenyl)propionate were prepared. All electrodes show: a near Nernstian slope of characteristic (58.3–60.9 mV decade−1) in the measurement range (10−4–10−1 mol L−1), limit of detection (5.0×10−5 mol L−1), really long lifetime (12 months), dependence of the electrode potential on pH (5.5–9.0), reproducibility of potential (0.6–1.2 mV) and selectivity coefficients in relation to some organic and inorganic anions. The electrodes were applied for the determination of ibuprofen in tablets by the calibration curve method and the standard addition method.

Ibuprofen membrane electrodes based on different plasticizers: diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP), o-nit... more Ibuprofen membrane electrodes based on different plasticizers: diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP), o-nitrophenyloctyl ether (o-NPOE), dioctyl sebacate (DOS) and tetraoctylammonium 2-(4-isobutylphenyl)propionate were prepared. All electrodes show: a near Nernstian slope of characteristic (58.3–60.9 mV decade−1) in the measurement range (10−4–10−1 mol L−1), limit of detection (5.0×10−5 mol L−1), really long lifetime (12 months), dependence of the electrode potential on pH (5.5–9.0), reproducibility of potential (0.6–1.2 mV) and selectivity coefficients in relation to some organic and inorganic anions. The electrodes were applied for the determination of ibuprofen in tablets by the calibration curve method and the standard addition method.
