The following taxa are recorded for the first time from the countries and provinces listed here: barrei, A. deflenda, A. specifica and Katamenes sichelii tauriae. The worldwide distribution of each taxon is summarised, and some descriptive, taxonomic and nomenclatural comments are also included.

We describe here the circumstances of the discovery and describe the current situation of P. baton in the country. The entire Czech range is restricted to northern foothills of the

During this study, 4015 wasps of 10 species were trapped at 144 locations. The following species were trapped: Polistes dominula (Christ, 1791), Polistes nimpha (Christ, 1791), Vespa crabro Linnaeus, 1758, Vespula germanica (Fabricius, 1793), V. rufa (Linnaeus, 1758), V. vulgaris (Linnaeus, 1758), Dolichovespula media (Retzius, 1783), D. saxonica (Fabricius, 1793), D. sylvestris (Scopoli, 1763), and D. omissa (Bischoff, 1931). V. vulgaris and V. crabro were the eudominant species with more than 30 % of individuals. The third most common species was V. germanica with more than 13 % of individuals. D. media, a species formerly recognised as rare or uncommon, had 9 %. A very interesting result of the study is one trapped specimen of D. omissa, a social parasite species.

Until now only Sylvicola (Anisopus) punctatus (Fabricius, 1787) and Sylvicola (Sylvicola) fenestralis (Scopoli, 1763) were reported from Romania. New faunistic records of Sylvicola (Diptera: Anisopodidae) are presented. Sylvicola (Sylvicola) cinctus (Fabricius, 1787) and S. ( Anisopus) fuscatus (Fabricius, 1775) are recorded from Romania for the first time. An identification key and illustrations of Romanian Sylvicola species are presented.

Acta Musei Moraviae, Scientiae biologicae (Brno) 97(2): 69-86. -Nine species from three genera (Dolichovespula Rohwer, 1916, Vespa Linnaeus, 1758, and Vespula Thomson, 1869 of vespine wasps have hitherto been published from Iran. We summarize the published data on Iranian Vespinae, and also give new distributional records for the species. Only six species, for which specimens were checked by the senior author or by J. M. Carpenter, are considered as actually forming the fauna of Iran in this paper: Vespa orientalis Linnaeus, 1771, Vespa crabro Linnaeus, 1758, Vespula germanica (Fabricius, 1793), Vespula vulgaris (Linnaeus, 1758), Dolichovespula sylvestris (Scopoli, 1763), and Dolichovespula omissa (Bischoff, 1931). The occurrence of another three species, published by Iranian researchers, was not confirmed: Vespula rufa (Linnaeus, 1758), Dolichovespula saxonica (Fabricius, 1793), and Dolichovespula media (Retzius, 1783). In addition to the synonymies and distributional data, an identification key is given for all the recorded species. The presence of Dolichovespula omissa Bischoff, 1931, in Iran is verified.

New localities were found for some species and subspecies previously known in Iran.

A ... more In recent years, five new species of Vespinae have been described from Yunnan Province, China. A thorough assessment of these taxa, including study of color differences and compilation of measurements of specimens from six entomological collections, shows that the new taxa are merely variants of existing, nominal species. Thus, all five are synonymized here, as follows: Vespa hekouensis Dong and Wang, and Vespa maguanensis Dong = Vespa analis Fabricius; Vespula yulongensis Dong and Wang = Vespula flaviceps (Smith); Vespula nujiangensis Dong and Wang = Vespula orbata (du Buysson); and Vespula gongshanensis Dong = Vespula rufa (Linnaeus), all NEW SYNONYMY. The synonymies bring the current number of vespine species recognized worldwide to 67.
