2013 Integrated Communications, Navigation and Surveillance Conference (ICNS), 2013

Given that questions of the statistics associated with position estimation error are fairly well known, and that path definition error is near zero in modern RNP avionics, this paper will focus on path steering error, which has not been studied using operational data. We propose analysis methods that can be applied to analyzing large volumes of recorded, in-service data to answer the questions of statistical modeling for the path following behavior of these systems. Preliminary analysis results derived from partner airlines' RNAV and RNP equipped aircraft flying in revenue service are presented. Answers to key questions related to the Flight Management System's (FMS) Path Steering Error (PSE, also known as Flight Technical Error, or FTE) will be presented. This paper will characterize any variations that might exist in the distributions due to flight phase (climb, level or descent), flight path characteristics (turning or straight) and piloting mode, e.g., flight director or autopilot coupled with Lateral Navigation (LNAV). Results are presented as sample statistics, cumulative distributions, and Q-Q plots. Disclaimer The contents of this material reflect the views of the author. Research paper thumbnail of Towards a Service Brokering Model for IT Departments

Consequently, IT departments are increasingly developing fewer IT services and relying more on external providers to satisfy the needs of their customers. This new context requires a change in the IT function, which should move from its traditional role of service builder and operator to a new role of service integrator and broker. However, IT managers do not know in most of the cases which are the capabilities, skills and resources required in the IT area to implement this new role. To cope with this lack, we propose a management model built in two steps: (i) a review of the literature that help us to identify and analyze the current contributions in the IT service brokering area, and (ii) to validate the findings made in the literature review through a focus group with IT professionals and managers. The presented model aims at establishing the basis for a complete approach to help IT organizations to adopt the IT service broker role.

However, the use of SLOs faces two major challenges. First, the target setting is mostly subjective and arbitrary. Second, there is little evidence on the reliability and validity of the tool. In this paper, we proposed three data-based SLO target-setting models: split, banded, and class-wide models. The data-based approach ensures that the targets set for students are challenging yet realistic and achievable. Using data of 176 pre-kindergarten teachers and two cohorts of students from a large school district in Texas, we investigated the reliability and predictive validity of teachers' SLO scores. Results indicated that teachers' SLO scores had moderate to high consistency across different subtests, and moderate stability over time. Teachers' SLO scores were also demonstrated to be useful in predicting future students' achievement, which supported the predictive validity of the tool.

This new context requires a change in the IT function, which should move from its traditional role of service builder and operator to a new role of service integrator and broker. To cope with this lack, we propose a management model built in two steps: (i) a review of the literature that help us to identify and analyze the current contributions in the IT service brokering area, and (ii) a qualitative research that includes a focus group and a survey to IT professionals in order to validate the findings made in the literature review. The presented model aims at establishing the basis for a complete approach to help IT organizations to adopt the IT service broker role.

The MFT-B is designed to assess the general business knowledge of students at the end of their programs. There is no known literature that explores the relationship of prerequisite courses or PGPA with the MFT-B. This study finds that second semester Freshman English 102 and Economics 222, and PGPA influence MFT-B scores.
