O concreto armado é formado basicamente de concreto e aço, que pode apresentar problemas originad... more O concreto armado é formado basicamente de concreto e aço, que pode apresentar problemas originados de falhas na execução, materiais utilizados, e falta de manutenção. Como um exemplo de estrutura em concreto armado, têm-se as pontes que estão sujeitas a variadas ações, podendo comprometer sua funcionalidade, ocasionando sua deterioração e envelhecimento, devido ao uso contínuo e a falta de programas de manutenção. O presente artigo tem como objetivo analisar as manifestações patológicas encontradas em uma determinada estrutura, através de um estudo de caso na ponte sobre o Rio Chopim, localizada entre os municípios de Pato Branco-PR e Coronel Vivida-PR, onde fora realizado uma análise comparativa entre os dados obtidos por meio de visita in loco, com os dados do relatório do DNIT em 2014. Na visita realizaram-se registros fotográficos das fissuras e eflorescência encontradas nas lajes, dos pilares, tubulões e vigas que apresentavam falhas na concretagem e desplacamento do concreto, tornando as armaduras expostas, das cortinas de cada lado da ponte. Após a coleta e análise visual das imagens, pode-se constatar que não foi realizado nenhum reparo na estrutura após a vistoria realizada, e que a mesma não apresentou grandes evoluções, apesar disso, é notável a necessidade de realizar reforços e reformas para que os problemas da estrutura não se agravem, pois a mesma encontrase exposta a intempéries climáticas, aumentando assim sua vida útil.

In order to preserve the value of Systematic Literature Reviews (SLRs), they should be frequently... more In order to preserve the value of Systematic Literature Reviews (SLRs), they should be frequently updated including new studies produced after the conduction of the reviews. However, most of SLRs are outdated and there is a lack of works that support the conduction of SLRs updates. Objective: The main goal of this paper is to report our experience in updating two of our SLRs. Method: To update these two SLRs, we used automated techniques based on VTM (Visual Text Mining) to guarantee the presence of relevant studies. Results: From our experience, some factors to satisfactorily update SLRs were identified: (i) to adopt software tools to support the updating process; (ii) to provide as much as possible information of previous SLR; (iii) to involve researchers from previous SLR; and (iv) to reuse protocol from preliminar SLR. Conclusions: Reported lessons learned can be used as a basis of knowledge to guide researchers when updating their SLRs.

This research aims to identify IPNs in radiology reports of chest and abdominal CT by Natural Language Processing techiniques to recognize IPN in sentences of radiology reports. Our preliminary analysis indicates vastly different pulmonary incidental findings rates for two different patient groups.

Um aneurisma e uma dilatacao irreversivel e ocorre quando o diâmetro da arteria aorta superar a 50% do previsto no segmento analisado. Observa-se o aumento da incidencia de aneurismas dissecantes da aorta; provavelmente devido a maior sobrevida da populacao, a melhoria dos meios diagnosticos, ao maior numero de pessoas atendidas pelos servicos de saude e pelo aumento dos fatores causadores de disseccao. Pacientes com quadro de aneurisma de aorta apresentam prognostico sombrio, podendo permanecer assintomaticos por anos. Na aorta ascendente, a dilatacao progressiva de uma disseccao cronica pode levar a insuficiencia valvar aortica, ou a ruptura espontânea. O tratamento operatorio da disseccao aortica e um desafio para o cirurgiao cardiovascular. Relatamos um caso abordando a correcao cirurgica de aneurisma dissecante cronico da aorta ascendente.

This noteworthy connections database is a powerful tool, still overlooked due to the remarkable risks for users’ privacy. Brazil has followed 2018 European regulations to protect data privacy, when working with personal data. Therefore, we present an anonymization process that prevents one to identify and distinguish a subject within a set of subjects of the database. Baculoviruses are insect viruses largely used as expression vectors and biopesticides. These viru... more Baculoviruses are insect viruses largely used as expression vectors and biopesticides. These viruses can efficiently infect the larval stage of several agricultural pests worldwide causing a lethal disease. In this work, we found a novel baculovirus isolated from the larval stage of Urbanus proteus (L.), the bean leafroller and characterized its complete genome. This is an important pest of several leguminous plants in Brazil and belongs to the butterfly family Hesperiidae, from where no baculovirus genome sequence has been described. This new virus was shown to have the smallest genome among all alphabaculoviruses sequenced to date, with 105,555 bp and 119 putative ORFs. We found ten unique genes, seven bro, and the 38 baculovirus core genes. UrprNPV was found to be related to the Adoxophyes-infecting baculoviruses AdorNPV and AdhoNPV with high genetic distance and a long branch length. The graft site is a factor that has large impact on the functioning of this transplant, and the stomach appears to be a promising location. Our objective is to describe a new experimental model for the grafting of Islets of Langerhans in rat stomachs. Islets of Langerhans were extracted from 45 isogenic male rats of the Lewis lineage and transplanted into 9 isogenic rats of the Wistar lineage; 5 in the gastric body submucosa, and 4 in the gastric fundus submucosa. Normoglycemia was defined as two successive measurements of <250 mg/dL. No immunosuppression was used. The two groups glycemia control improvement were compared with-student test. The results obtained following the transplantation of the islets in 9 rats showed between 995 and 2310 islets transplanted (mean of 1367). Alguns apontamentos teórico-metodológicos sobre a escrita testemunhal a partir da literatura de Primo Levi Who speaks through the testimony? Some theoretical and methodological notes on the written testimony from the literature of Primo Levi Lucas Amaral de Oliveira Resumo. Quando falamos de testemunho pensamos na possibilidade dele revelar a "verdade" objetiva dos eventos, na qual o que importa são os fatos que levariam, por exemplo, à condenação de um sujeito ou governo. Neste ensaio, tentarei explorar brevemente, a partir dos depoimentos memorialísticos do escritor italiano Primo Levi, outra dimensão do testemunho: trata-se dele como produtor de uma verdade proveniente da dimensão subjetiva da vida social, das experiências vividas pelos sujeitos, suas narrativas e simbolizações do sofrimento, individual e coletivo. O testemunho de indivíduos marginais e estigmatizados possui um valor bastante significativo para a sociologia, pois ilustra, mais que uma representação objetiva e acabada de fatos vivenciados, elementos subjetivos que, apesar de possuírem incompletudes e inconstâncias, narram experiências heterogêneas de um determinado trauma. Mas, mesmo considerando o testemunho como instrumento importante de documentação e verificação da realidade histórica, uma problematização deve ser feita: a subjetividade inerente à representação literária diminui ou restringe o valor dos testemunhos sobre experiências de extrema violência? Isto é, que tipos de problemas e lacunas o testemunho do trauma, tomado como documento empírico, poderia suscitar?

A deeper understanding of emergency medical patients' opinions 6 about research is needed. We conducted a systematic review and meta-summary of 7 quantitative and qualitative studies on which values, attitudes, or beliefs of emergent 8 medical research participants influence research participation. We included studies of 9 adults that investigated opinions toward emergency medicine research participation. 10 We excluded studies focused on the association between demographics or consent 11 document features and participation and those focused on non-emergency research. In 12 August 2011, we searched the following databases: MEDLINE, EMBASE, Google 13 Scholar, Scirus, PsycINFO, AgeLine, and Global Health. Titles, abstracts, and then full 14 manuscripts were independently evaluated by 2 reviewers. Disagreements were 15 resolved by consensus and adjudicated by a third author. Studies were evaluated for 16 bias using standardized scores. We report themes associated with participation or 17 refusal. Our initial search produced over 1800 articles. A total of 44 articles were 18 extracted for full-manuscript analysis and 14 were retained based on our eligibility 19 criteria. Among factors favoring participation, altruism and personal health benefit had 20 the highest frequency. Saltbush, a halophyte species tolerant to salt stress, is an excellent material for the identific... more Saltbush, a halophyte species tolerant to salt stress, is an excellent material for the identification of physiological and biochemical mechanisms involved in the resistance to salinity. This study aimed at evaluating the ecophysiological and biochemical responses of saltbush plants at the concentrations of 0 mM, 150 mM, 300 mM, 450 mM and 600 mM of NaCl. Biometry, gas exchange and relative content of chlorophyll and proline in the leaves were measured. Plants presented growth stimulation mainly at the levels of 0 mM, 150 mM and 300 mM of NaCl. Regarding gas exchange, plants showed variation in the photosynthetic rate and stomatal regulation, with a small increase in leaf transpiration. Salinity did not significantly alter the chlorophyll contents, but induced an increase in proline contents in all NaCl levels, demonstrating a growth maintenance capacity and indicating the occurrence of osmotic adjustment.

O óleo essencial da aroeira é utilizado no tratamento de micoses, sendo a sua atividade antifúngica atribuída à alta concentração de monoterpenos. Este estudo teve como objetivo determinar o melhor rendimento de destilação de óleo essencial de sementes e folhas da aroeira e os componentes químicos do óleo essencial nos diversos períodos de destilação. Cem gramas de cada material foram destilados em aparato de Clevenger durante 2,5h, 4,0h, 5,5h e 7,0h. O material destilado foi analisado por cromatografia a gás acoplada a espectrofotômetro de massas, onde foi obtido o perfil cromatográfico do material. As sementes de aroeira apresentaram maiores quantidades de óleo essencial, quando comparadas com as folhas em todos os períodos de destilação. RESUMO-A antracnose é a principal doença pós-colheita em frutos de goiabeira e visando reduzir o ... more RESUMO-A antracnose é a principal doença pós-colheita em frutos de goiabeira e visando reduzir o uso de agroquímicos tem-se investido em métodos alternativos de controle desta doença. O estudo teve como objetivo avaliar o rendimento da produção e a caracterização química de hidrolato e extratos provenientes de folhas e sementes de aroeira (Schinus terebinthifolius Raddi) em diferentes tempos de destilação. O trabalho inclui ainda a avaliação, in vitro, do potencial inibitório do fungo Colletotrichum gloeosporioides. O hidrolato e o extrato foram obtidos pelo método de hidrodestilação realizado em aparato de Clevenger e a determinação do perfil fotoquimico foi realizado por meio de cromatografia gasosa. Os ensaios com o fungo foram realizados a partir da adição dos subprodutos ao meio de cultura BDA em placas de Petri com 6 concentrações de extrato aquoso (5; 10; 15; 20; 25 e 30%) e 4 de hidrolato (10; 15; 20 e 25%) acondicionadas em câmara a 25 ºC. Os resultados mostraram que as folhas de S. terebinthifolius proporcionaram maior volume de hidrolato quando comparadas às de sementes, porém o rendimento de extrato aquoso foi semelhante para as duas estruturas vegetais estudadas. O tempo de hidrodestilação não exerceu influência no rendimento dos subprodutos. As análises cromatográficas não detectaram compostos presentes no hidrolato de aroeira. No ensaio in vitro de inibição do fungo, o extrato aquoso e hidrolato, em todas as concentrações testadas, não apresentaram potencial fungitóxico para o C. gloeosporioides, agente causador da antracnose em goiabas.
