Dados da saúde, por suas características de multidimensionalidade, georreferenciamento e evolução... more Dados da saúde, por suas características de multidimensionalidade, georreferenciamento e evolução temporal, requerem as múltiplas formas de representação visual. Nesse sentido, durante a pandemia de COVID-19, dois fatos chamaram a atenção para a importância de Infovis para Saúde: por um lado, percebeu-se a nítida apropriação das convenções visuais da Infovis pela mídia e consequentemente, pelo cidadão comum, que por força da relevância do contexto, precisou absorver temas como mapas coropléticos, médias móveis e representações logarítmicas. Por outro lado, revelou-se a grande carência de instrumentos adequados para o monitoramento e a tomada de decisão pelos gestores da saúde pública.

Many people with visual impairments, users of screen readers, use mobile devices to interact with... more Many people with visual impairments, users of screen readers, use mobile devices to interact with daily information. Despite the growing number of guidelines, standards, and recommendations for accessibility on mobile devices, there are still accessibility issues in mobile applications. Although guidelines, standards and recommendations contribute to educate developers towards universal design, difficulties in the development process discourage developers implementing accessible applications. In addition to directives, tools are needed to automate the process of integrating accessibility in the applications. Through a systematic review of the literature, this work seeks to identify the state of the art in tools for developers in the creation of native mobile applications accessible to people with visual impairment, characterizing when to use them in the development process and its degree of technological maturity.

Smartphones are a powerful tool to help visually impaired people in accessing relevant services s... more Smartphones are a powerful tool to help visually impaired people in accessing relevant services such as education, transportation and leisure through applications. Yet, despite the growing number of mobile accessibility studies, compared to website-related studies, there are still few established and well-established techniques and guidelines. As a result, development tools for building accessibility in mobile applications are scarce. They are based primarily on operating systems recommendations and guidelines, such as those provided by Google and Apple and many are useful only after the development effort has been spent. This paper presents AccessibiLint, a tool for static code verification of accessibility rules for Android native applications. AccessibiLint was developed as an extension of Android Lint tool base on a set of guidelines for visually impairment accessibility for native Android applications.

A gestão da Saúde Pública no Brasil é carente de recursos para a visualização de informações. Com... more A gestão da Saúde Pública no Brasil é carente de recursos para a visualização de informações. Como parte de pesquisa para a melhoria dos painéis apresentados aos gestores, este artigo apresenta o protótipo funcional de um painel de visualização de dados criado para auxiliar a gestão e a operação do Serviço de Atendimento Móvel de Urgência (SAMU) em nível federal. Os métodos de pesquisa e intervenção adotados na criação e no desenvolvimento do artefato são pautados pela Design Research e Pesquisa-Ação. Abordagens centradas no usuário guiaram as etapas de trabalho da equipe interdisciplinar e o envolvimento cocriativo dos gestores do SAMU. Como resultado deste esforço, detalham-se as soluções de arquitetura e design da informação, como a organização dos painéis por escopo territorial, o uso de séries temporais, mapas, componentes interativos e pictogramas para apresentação das unidades móveis. É descrito o modo como o artefato organiza a complexidade da rede de atendimento fornecendo visões por território, central de regulação, base descentralizada e unidade de atendimento. São apresentados ainda resultados compilados como requisitos de projeto para melhorias futuras. As part of a research project intending to improve dashboards presented to public health managers, this article presents a functional prototype of a dashboard designed to support the management and operation of the Mobile Emergency Care Service (SAMU) at the federal level. The research and intervention methods adopted during the creation and development of the artefact are based on Design Research and Action Research. Usercentred approaches have guided the interdisciplinary team's work stages , as well as the co-creational involvement of SAMU managers. The information architecture and design solutions are specified, such as the arrangement of panels by territorial scope, or the use of time series, maps, interactive components and pictograms to present mobile units. The article depicts how the complexity of the care network is organized by the dashboard, which provides views by territory, regulation central, decentralised base and care unit. Results compiled as design requirements for future improvements are also presented. Based on evaluation sessions with other managers, we conclude that the prototype has brought improvements to the SAMU operation activities.

Based on researches about Brazilian cell phone market, we have defined archetypical mobile devices using the persona technique. The resulting group of fictitious models intends to help designers abstract the large number of possible devices. We review W3C (World Wide Web Consortium) mobile best practices as an example of usage of the mobile device personas in design.

RESUMO: atualmente, para pessoa com deficiência visual total realizar o Exame Nacional do Ensino ... more RESUMO: atualmente, para pessoa com deficiência visual total realizar o Exame Nacional do Ensino Médio (ENEM), disponibilizam-se materiais adaptados e auxílio humano, este com a finalidade de leitura da prova, preenchimento de gabaritos e transcrição da redação. Consequentemente, para a realização da prova, a pessoa com deficiência depende fortemente de outras pessoas. O objetivo deste estudo é identificar as questões de acessibilidade existentes no processo atual do ENEM e apresentar uma solução que, por meio de um aplicativo com acessibilidade digital denominado ENEM Acessível, viabiliza a participação da pessoa com deficiência visual total com autonomia no exame. Usability evaluation intends to identify difficulties experienced by a user when interacting with a computer interface. Usability evaluation is a key issue in assessing the return from investment in government sites, as it can measure how the services impact the citizen and is a significant source of requirements for design reviews of present services. This paper describes the creation of a Laboratory for Human-Computer Interaction (LabIHC) devoted to assess Sao Paulo State, Brazil, government services usability. This Laboratory evaluates about 250 users per day using different egovernment services and can produce accurate reports on usability problems. The paper describes LabIHC's pluralistic evaluation methodology, composed of four different techniques, as well as the set of recommendations that were derived from LabIHC results for e-government services. e-govemment; usability; universal usability; usability evaluation.

The social web presents new opportunities for ecommerce and services provided to the consumer. Th... more The social web presents new opportunities for ecommerce and services provided to the consumer. This paper presents an online recommendation system that eases the matching of a user with the most relevant products and services. The designed system consists of three recommendation algorithms; two of them are already widely discussed in the literature, while the third one is new and was proposed to consider the trust relationship between users and their peers. This work also presents an experiment with real users that intends to evaluate the proposed new algorithm in comparison with the other two and also with direct, human-to-human recommendations. The paper presents the results gathered on experimental data analysis and the statistical hypotheses tests that were performed, which allowed concluding in which circumstances trust-based recommendation is advantageous.

People's usage of social networks, mobile applications, websites, sensor networks and other compu... more People's usage of social networks, mobile applications, websites, sensor networks and other computer systems leads to a massive production of personal data about their behaviors and preferences. Personal data are used by organizations in business and marketing tasks. However, details about personal data usage are often not accessible or clear to data subject, raising concerns about privacy and security. Presentation of information about personal data usage needs improvement towards Personal Data Transparency. Thus, this paper aims to present the TR-Model, a Metadata Application Profile guideline that intends to propose a standardization on information to be considered minimally necessary to Personal Data Transparency as well as a set of specifications to guide developers on how to present this data. TR-Model elements are focused providing Personal Data Transparency in a user-friendly and high quality format. TR-Model presents a set of specification based on entities, metadata, metaevents and descriptions. The model evaluation was based on user testing in several scenarios of usage of personal data in a gym application tool. The information presented was created based on the TR-Model metadata, metaevents and descriptions. Participants evaluated transparency considering dimensions of Human-Computer Interaction and Information Quality. Participants' opinions were recorded in surveys and analyzed with descriptive statistics; the results indicate that the TR-Model was effective in supporting the production of friendly, understandable and relevant Transparency for data subjects, in compliance with regulations like GDPR.

Participants' opinions were recorded in surveys and analyzed with descriptive statistics; the results indicate that the TR-Model was effective in supporting the production of friendly, understandable and relevant Transparency for data subjects, in compliance with regulations like GDPR.
