In eutrophic lakes and reservoirs the blooming of green–blue algae contributes to increase the ch... more In eutrophic lakes and reservoirs the blooming of green–blue algae contributes to increase the chlorophyll “a” concentration, deteriorates the water quality, producing anaerobic conditions in the deepest waters among other impacts. This process also generates significant amount of scum, which also contributes to diminish the dissolution of the atmospheric oxygen in the water. Due to the occurrence of irregular nitrification events in the waters of the polluted urban lake, Acude Velho which is located in the center of Campina Grande City, PB during the dry season, it was analyzed the performance of the electrolytic process in treating these waters. For the electrolysis treatment it was built, in laboratory scale, a 2 liters reactor. Inside of this reactor was inserted an electrolytic assemblage made of steel and aluminum sheets. Este trabalho mostra o desenvolvimento de (1) um sistema quimico constituido pela adicao de acido... more Este trabalho mostra o desenvolvimento de (1) um sistema quimico constituido pela adicao de acido fraco monoprotico (acido hipocloroso, HOCl) a agua e (2) um modelo termodinâmico que mostra, de forma sistematica, as reacoes envolvendo o Cloro. As especies do sistema HOCl + H2O bem como pH e pCT sao representadas pictoricamente no diagrama pCT x pH que permite analisar a influencia do acido hipocloroso na reacao de desinfeccao e obter a fracao do residual livre do composto de cloro. No modelo termodinâmico aplicado ao sistema H2O +Cl2(g) + HOCl + OCl-, as reacoes redox permitiram obter os parâmetros pe e pH. Essas reacoes sao analisadas a 25°C e os resultados sao somente validos para esta temperatura.
