This tool, which is called Extrinsic Motivation Index (EMI), is meant to measure the extrinsic motivation of employees. By measuring employees' extrinsic motivation, managers are able to track job satisfaction and, subsequently, implement measures aiming both to raise job satisfaction and to improve organizational commitment. In order to test the validity of the model, we apply the EMI to Faculty members at Spanish and German universities. We also carry out simulation experiments in order to to address all possible situations an organization most probably will have to deal with. The results point out significant differences in the level of motivation and commitment of Faculty members. Additionally, the analysis shows several ways in which an organization may manage job satisfaction issues according to on its level of resources.

On the one hand, successful examples comprise regions that long ago embraced internationalization, innovation and/or restructuring strategies. In those regions where the aforementioned strategies were fruitful, the development of new production methods led to gradual repopulation. Less successful examples, however, are likely to experience undesired effects as a consequence of both the suppression of aid (EU- and regional- level) and the liberalization of EU mining markets, starting on December 31, 2018. This papers aims to provide a method to accurately assess the socioeconomic situation of these regions. As such a method is rooted in previous policies, it enables the identification of welfare-enhancing policies for the inhabitants of European coalfield regions.

In recent years it has been published a wide range of research on income inequality and economic growth, although there is still no unanimity on the fact that the former exerts on the second or on the underlying type of correlation between both variables. On this basis, this paper aims to answer the following question: What is the role of income inequality in the process of economic growth?, and, therefore, ¿it also tries to identify the correlation between the two variables? Empirical research centers in 12 developed European countries for the period 1975-2009. The final conclusion indicate that inequality when is not extreme can promote the process of economic growth.

Key Words: Income Inequality, Economic Growth, Time Series.
JEL: F02, N10, O15.

In this work we review the concept of motivation and we stress the differences between intrinsic and extrinsic motivation. In the process we introduce the variables that have an impact on work motivation and the techniques used for its measurement. Below you will find an original model, used to measure extrinsic motivation. The fieldwork was carried out on a wide selection of professors at the following European universities: Freie Universität and Humboldt Universität in Germany, and Universidad Rey Juan Carlos in Spain, from March 2013 to August 2013.
