Data collected were tabulated and analysed using frequency distribution tables and simple percentage. The Internet, TEEAL, and AGORA were the three electronic information sources mostly used in the library to obtain information for research and academic project writing. Majority of users were satisfied in using the electronic resources as they were able to get the desired information requested which were mostly searched, downloaded and printed out with the help of the library staff. There were three categories of users that patronized the electronic services. There is therefore the need to constantly provide effective Internet services in the library. TEEAL package should be current. The library staff should be knowledgeable and always be ready to adequately conduct effective electronic information searches for library users.

Two study stations were identified at the area, namely; Station one (Plantation site) and Station two (Control site). One thousand eight hundred and seventy-seven (1877) individual soil arthropods were recorded from both stations. These individuals were represented in 4 classes, 11 orders and 21 families which were collected and extracted using the pitfall trap method and the Berlese Tullgren Extractor Funnel. Data collected from the study stations were subjected to appropriate statistical analyses which included Simpson's index (Ds), the Shannon Wiener index (H'), the Shannon Diversity T-test and Evenness (E) to determine the diversity of the soil arthropod fauna. Station one (Plantation site), was the most diverse station (Ds=2.99) and (H'=1.84) while station two (Control site) having (Ds= 2.94) and (H'= 1.69) is the least diverse station which may be as a result of anthropogenic activities. The Order Hymenoptera and Family Formicidae (50.5%) and (38.7%) respectively were the dominant and abundant group in both stations with the Order Crustacea and Family Armadillidae (22.2%) and (1.63%) respectively were the least dominant and abundant in both stations. The soil arthropod fauna correlated positively with the soil organic carbon (r=0.16), soil moisture content (r= 0.26) and soil pH (r=0.60) while the soil temperature correlated negatively (r=-0.89) in both stations. This implies that soil arthropods increase with increasing soil moisture content and decreasing soil temperature. © JASEM 9 13

The study adopted the survey research method using the questionnaire as research instrument. First year students in the 2013/2014 academic session constituted the population of study. Simple random and total enumeration sampling methods were used to collect data from students in five out of twelve faculties in the university. The questionnaire used is a 4-point likert scale instrument: SA (Strongly agreed) = 4; A (Agreed) = 3; D (Disagreed) = 2; and SD (Strongly disagreed) = 1. Data was collected at the end of the first semester when the GST 111use of library was concluded. Results revealed that Computer, Software, Internet, WWW and ICT literacy skills of the students are high. There is a significant difference in Computer, Software, Internet and WWW and ICT literacy skills of the students per faculty. Majority (65%) of the students are skillful in ICT use. Class instruction is very well perceived by the students and it positively influenced students' ICT literacy skills. Gender and secondary school attended did not influence students' ICT literacy skills. There is no significant difference between male and female students' ICT literacy skills as well as students that attended private or public secondary schools. It is therefore concluded that the students are highly ICT literate and class instruction (GST 111-use of library) course mainly influenced the students' ICT literacy skills thus the class instruction programme in the university is adequate and effective.

The library staff should be knowledgeable and always be ready to adequately conduct effective electroni...

This study aims at identifying the significant factors that influence the usage of EIS in order to provide remedies to increase their utilisation. Survey research method was adopted using questionnaire as an instrument for data collection from the population by simple random sampling. Results indicate that awareness level of EIS among the lecturers was moderate and usage was high. There is no significant difference in the level of awareness of EIS across the five universities. There is no significant influence of academic and gender status of respondents on the usage of EIS. Awareness of EIS, computer and Internet literacy skills and competence of pharmacy lecturers in using EIS were found to be key factors that significantly influence the utilisation of EIS.

The questionnaire was adopted to gather data in this study. The questionnaire was administered by the researcher to scientists that have published at least one palm article. Usable data were collected from 40 Palms Scientists that used the Nigerian Institute for Oil Palm Research Library to access research information between May 2007 and March, 2009. Plagiarized papers were content analyzed to verify claims. Results of detailed investigation from the respondents who indicated that their papers were plagiarized revealed that one of the scientist’s paper was actually plagiarized by his colleague by re-sending their already published work in a book where the plagiarist was a second author to a journal for second publication with the plagiarist name now as first author. This is double publication and plagiarism of authorship. The reason for plagiarism was due to u...
