Businesses and organizations are stretching far and wide across the borders as well as venturing into new markets that they previously were not. Businesses and organizations are also getting more multi-cultural and including a diverse group of people in their structures. With the increase in international business and governance comes the need for organizational leaders to have a well structured governance plan that will assist them in defining plans and improving their processes so that mistakes and examples of organizational malaise and collapse as seen from other businesses will not happen to current and future organizations. This paper is divided into two parts, the first part will address the components of a business governance plan and all the necessary instruments that can assist an organization in achieving it's goals such as the moral underpinnings, political implications, impediments to a successful governance plan, and solutions on how those plans can be implemented by an organizations leadership or the board of directors. The second part of the paper discusses the functional departments that should participate in a governance plan including their roles, significance and political ramifications.

Legal immigrants are those who are able to come through legal channels such as marriage to a citizen or permanent resident, through an employer, or as a refugee. Others come on temporary visas such as student or tourist visas. Discrimination is something that has been very common among human race. This can be experienced both consciously and unconsciously. Discrimination among ethnic minorities has to do with how people perceive foreigners or immigrants. This is an exploratory research based on existing literature that critically analyzes the experiences of Hispanic population in America. This study concludes that human services profession can be most effective responding nationally with collective efforts across the country based on these experiences. The large number of people without adequate insurance has negative consequences on the community,... more The large number of people without adequate insurance has negative consequences on the community, affects individual health, adds to the strain on the US health care system, and increases the costs of care even globally. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the three most important economic issues confronting global health care today and into the next decade. This is an exploratory study. Specific secondary data in health care reviewed to support our position. This paper further recommends that improved population health can be achieved but requires a new critical paradigm of improving lives globally.

As a result, Wrong-site surgery (WSS) is a patient safety issue and when it happens it can be devastating for both the patient and surgeon(s). Wrong-site Surgery can be prevented if appropriate and adequate measures are implemented to ensure the correct site of surgery a nd patient’s safety. In this article, the authors examined increase in rate of WSSs, the causes and f actors responsible for WSS, recommendations to prevent the episode of wrong sit e or wrong patient surgery, and past procedures of interventions.

During this period, multiple risk behaviors affect health outcomes in adulthood. One of the effects of substance abuse is that adolescents who use illicit substances might subsequently feel guilty about their habit and begin to experience low self-esteem and depressive symptoms. This is an exploratory study based on existing literature to critically examine and understand effects of substance abuse among African-American adolescents. This study concludes that the development of culturally specific treatment options for African-American substance abusers will help to strengthen overall health among African American youth and adolescents.

Obesity has become a focus of public health because it creates a burden for society as people are facing more health problems, which increases healthcare costs. There are many factors that contribute to obesity; one of the factors playing a great role in Hispanic childhood obesity is culture. In order to get the maximum outcome when trying to address health inequalities, the ultimate approach is introducing policies that will eliminate or reduce the factors that contribute or cause the disparity. In order to decrease childhood obesity in Hispanics, there should be an understanding on how culture influences diet.

This study therefore examines the problem of juvenile violence and the challenge it poses to both the individuals and the society. It posits that the juvenile violence is both a social and health issues in the country and efforts at addressing the problem demands a holistic approach. In an attempt at examining the problem, the study highlights some of the predisposing factors responsible for the problem of juvenile violence and compares the classical with the postmodernism theories and concludes that from the sociological standpoint which conflict theory represent, they do not provide an adequate general theory of crime. The study notes that the social disorganization theory remains a very strong theory at the present time, and the most important finding is that violence among the youths and indeed crime corresponds to the structure of the neighborhood.

Several types of managed care systems have gained popularity in the American health care system. Managed care plans adopt a number of techniques; some are directed at the behavior of physicians while others are directed at subscribers to the plan. Knowledge of the impact of legislative reforms such as HIPPA Act, Medicare and Medicaid on managed care is essential to understand physician-patient relationships. This research is exploratory because it utilizes existing literature and body of knowledge in health care to conclude that it is important to start reducing the risks of inappropriate financial incentives that may threaten the delivery of quality health care, as patient advocates must preserve fundamental duty of physicians.

It starts with an introduction of Denison and Mishra's (1995) model and its use of the terms organizational culture and effectiveness in the field of management of organizations. Subsequently, it presents a table, chronologically organized, introducing significant research that highlighted major traits and developments of organizational culture theory as it relates to effectiveness. Next, beginning with Denison and Mishra's (1995) seminal article, this review discusses how the construct of organizational culture and effectiveness has advanced over the years, nationally and internationally and to various contexts. The examination largely concludes with a discussion of the current state of the organizational culture theory as it relates to effectiveness, addressing possible future developments and potential applications in educational settings.

It starts with an introduction of Max Weber’s (1947) groundbreaking application of the term “charisma” in the field of Social Sciences. Subsequently, it presents a research table, chronologically organized reflecting significant articles that highlight traits and historical developments of the charismatic leadership theory. Next, beginning with Weber’s (1947) seminal article, this literature review discusses how the construct of charismatic leadership has advanced over the years. The examination largely concludes with a discussion of the current state of charismatic leadership, and a call for future studies to address charismatic rhetoric research in doctor of education programs.

The truth is that dementia seems to remove the totality of a client's being, or snatch human vitality from a client. Dementia is a disease that has the potential to have negative impacts on the clients and their loved ones until death. Dementia poses a number of practical challenges; in which caretaker can no longer be sure whether the care delivered is satisfactory to the client. to achieve better treatment outcomes, as well as satisfaction with care received, This is an exploratory study that examines all existing literatures and provides challenges of dementia among African-Americans and concludes that it is necessary that clinicians and care providers take into consideration the individual with dementia's experiences, and include this in their planning for care.

According to the literature, since the 1990s, abortion rates in the U. S have been declining. How... more According to the literature, since the 1990s, abortion rates in the U. S have been declining. However, rates of abortion for poor and minority women remain high. In fact, the rates have increased for black women and black teenagers. While abortions offer a solution to an unintended and unwanted pregnancy, the adverse mental health effects associated with abortions can be troubling for adolescents who are incapable of dealing with the psychological consequences or do not have the resources to seek help. While there are numerous studies showing a risk for negative psychological sequelae in abortion patients, especially adolescents, there is controversy surrounding the claim that abortions pose a risk for psychological harm. Method: The literature search for academic articles in peerreviewed journals on the subject of negative psychological effects of abortions in adolescents in the United States was conducted using terms "abortion," "adolescents," "psychological health," "abortion," "adolescents,""emotional health," "abortion," "depression," "abortion," "teens," "health outcomes" in databases such as EBSCO, MEDLINE, Academic Search Complete, and SCOPUS. A total of 15 articles were included in this review. Results: Studies have shown an association between abortions and psychological sequelae. Some studies indicate that women who have abortions are at risk of developing psychological problems like depression and anxiety after the procedure, and adolescents may be at a greater risk for these effects. The psychological effect can be both short-term and long-term. On the other hand, other studies have shown no association between abortions and psychological sequelae. While the controversy around this claim continues, in the meantime, there are clinical implications that need to be addressed. Conclusion: Though we cannot say that abortions lead to psychological problems, it is evident that there are some women who are affected psychologically after an abortion. Thus, additional studies are needed for additional evidence and possible explanations as to why some women are at greater risk than others. In addition, if evidence is showing that abortion patients are at risk for negative psychological outcomes, there needs to be policy enacted to address the care that women receive after abortions to address and help anyone who may need counseling care.

Non-violent methods of agitation for civic rights have been more successful in the 19 th and 20 t... more Non-violent methods of agitation for civic rights have been more successful in the 19 th and 20 th centuries than armed insurgencies and violent protests across the world. However, media and scholarship attentions have always focused on armed conflicts and unsuccessful nonviolent protests. In Africa, there is a rich culture of nonviolent agitations which not only contributes to preservation of lives but has successfully been used to transform societies. The study focuses on the nonviolent methods adopted by democracy activists to transit Nigeria from military dictatorship into democracy. The philosophical foundation, strategies, tactics, and methods of nonviolent activities against military dictatorship are discussed. It is concluded that if the existing nonviolent traditions and practices that helped in birthing democracy are nurtured, documented and disseminated appropriately among the population, they could sustain Nigerian extant fragile democracy and support the protection of civic rights of the people.
