MAS Housing ETH Zürich - Academia.edu (original) (raw)

What are the major constraints in dwelling? What are the driving economic, political, technological and social forces in the highly sensitive field of housing? How can we develop concepts which meet the conditions of sustainability, society and costs? The MAS ETH in Housing adopts an interdisciplinary approach providing introduction into the relevant factors involved in concepts of good quality housing. The teaching goal of the MAS ETH Housing is to train architects as critical experts in the socially highly relevant sector of residential planning and construction. Through a teaching staff drawn from the specialities of architecture and cultural studies, the MAS Programme expands the professional skills of the participants in the area of in¬dividual conceptualization and professional communication. The participants will be introduced to useful methods of analysing, researching and conceptualizing individual projects. Second important learning objective is competence in interdisciplinary communication with representatives of other practical and professionalist fields in housing. This goal is pursued through individualized topic-specific and method-specific supervision of issues involved in each MAS thesis.
A lecture series on ‚Housing‘ – given by the course leaders, ETH Wohnforum – ETH CASE and by guests lecturers – is supplemented by a seminar-course and by workshops and fieldtrips with architects, experts and special guests. Graduates from over 20 countries also provide a lively network of alumni.
