E-learning facilitates the delivery of education and training to anyone, anytime and anywhere. The development and delivery of e-learning materials, by several organisations, and higher education institutions is under-pinned by a desire to solve authentic teaching, learning, and problems. The success of e-learning, however, depends, in part, on how learning takes place, that is, the underlying pedagogy; and the real value of e-Learning lies in the ability to deploy its elements to train the right people to gain the right knowledge and skills at the right time. Many recent efforts have been made to use e-learning system in developing countries across the wo...

Students of all ages use mobile phones not only for communication but also for entertainment, storage of data and accessing information. Many activities like photography have shifted to mobile, data storage has moved to mobiles, watching TV/movies is done on mobiles, internet is mostly accessed from mobiles. However, for learning purposes, use of mobile phones seems to be low. In this research, we identify factors that impact the perception of students towards use of mobiles for learning. These factors include ‘knowledge on mobile learning’, ‘learning method issues’, ‘device issues’, ‘financial issues’ and ‘readiness for mobile learning’. Applying Structural Equation Modeling (SEM), a model is presented based on data collected from 200 business and engineering students, through a questionnaire. Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) is conducted to examine ...

Since limited research addresses the issue of e‐learning quality (ELQ) of service in higher education environments, there is an increasing need to effectively assess ELQ. In this paper, we argue that to obtain a satisfactory e‐learning student experience, we must offer more than access to learning material. The research proposes an extended SERVQUAL model, the ELQ model, which in addition to key service constructs, facilitates consideration of both information and system quality factors. Exploratory Factor Analysis is conducted to investigate the reliability and validity of the measurement model, and multiple regression analysis is used to test the research model. Data analysis reveals that Assurance, Responsiveness, Tangibility, Course Website and Learning Content have a positive correlation with the perception of ELQ. e‐Learning students value a stable, and eas...

Despite this focus, implementation of e-learning systems often fails. The purpose of this paper is to consider a range of barriers, impacting the success of e-learning implementations, yet to the best of the authors’ knowledge no conceptual framework is able to consolidate existing research. Design/methodology/approach This paper undertook an in-depth review of literature concerning e-learning implementation barriers. Papers were extracted from established peer-reviewed journals and open sources. Articles not related to e-learning implementation barriers were discarded. A total of 259 papers were identified, published between 1990 and 2016. Hermeneutics and data-driven qualitative content analysis was used to define 68 unique barriers. Findings The 68 unique barriers were thematically grouped into four conceptual categories, i.e. Technology (T), Individu...
