Is Nepal politics only a space for the patriarchic system? While feminism has played an important role to influence the international politics in the 21 st century resulting in the protest for exclusion of women's rights in the South Asian nation, i.e. the new Nepal Constitution. Violence against women based on any cultural, religious, or traditional practices is criminalized; property rights are now equal for men and women; and there is a requirement that at least 33 per cent of parliamentary members be women. Yet, amid what appear to be major victories, the constitution does not allow single women to confer citizenship rights to their children. The problem is particularly pronounced for Nepali women who have a child with a foreigner: while a Nepali man may confer citizenship to his child if his wife is foreign, the same rule does not apply to Nepali women. Hypothetically feminism argues that girls are not born as girls but are created by the society. Therefore it seeks for the equal status deconstructing the notion of patriarchy. The article highlights Nepal's emphasis on feminism politics. Firstly, the new constitution seeks to maintain Rule of Law. Secondly, the Rule of Law which is challenged by the feminist supporters in the decision-making.

Research paper thumbnail of Korea's Use of 'Smart power': An Overview of Historical Development in the 'Late Industrialisation' Countries

Korea not only stops at the phase of the 'developed States' in the field of late industrialization, but also creates the advanced State in the 'techno-scientific' field in the 21 st Century. The literature or analysis of this issue tends to focus on the Statist perspective from International Political Economy and Post Colonialism ideas of cultural imperialism. State's strong engagement in the market and the leadership ability to hegemon in the domestic politics basically leads to the development; whereas other late industrialisation states are unable to catch up because of their policies and weaknesses. However, it clearly ignores that it was not only the State enforcement but 'power' was used alternatively in the process of development i.e., the use of 'smart power'.

It is captured in the larger debate, with North Korea as a by-product or satellite state of China, but the socio-political view of a created society has not been addressed much. The major development that took place during the time was the symbolic production of terminology such as 'blood-brothers' or as close as 'lips and teeth relations' which has reciprocal leverage in each-other's politics. In this case, social constructivism asserts that knowledge undergoes construction through human activity and individuals create meaning through their interactions. The paper takes a constructivist approach as a socio-political view on the Korean War, emphasizing the role of social factors such as identity in the construction of interest and action. It argues that it was the social construction of intersubjective belief and shared understanding that shaped North Korea-China relations.

Despite Nepal's potential to become the hydropower source for South Asia, it still relies heavily on importing electricity from India. This paper investigates why Nepal's hydropower capacity is inadequately utilized from both domestic and international perspectives and finds that domestic factors such as geo-climate features, weak infrastructure, political instability, and institutional deficiencies significantly hinder Nepal's hydropower development. From an international perspective, Nepal's geopolitical bonds and energy dependency with India and the regional powersharing configuration have significantly influenced its hydropower policy-making. Furthermore, this paper proposes how Nepal could sustainably develop its hydropower for self-sufficiency by establishing better policy instruments, attracting foreign investments, and upgrading its electricity infrastructure.
