Structures in architecture acts as a load-bearing element on mechanical systems. In addition, str... more Structures in architecture acts as a load-bearing element on mechanical systems. In addition, structures can also provide spatial and aesthetic expressions in architectural with the use of certain techniques and materials that bring out the structure expression. The problem discuss in this paper relates to aesthetic parameters used to examine the structural expression on architectural. The research method used is descriptive analytical method conducted with study of the literature on aesthetics, based on parameters: visual complexity, texture and colour, symmetry of the form and familiarity using the case study of Ship Passenger Terminal building such as Qingdao Cruise Passanger Terminal, Kai Tak Cruise Terminal and Salerno Maritime Terminal.The result shows that visual complexity parameter were exposure the form of curved structures and folding structures, the use of lattice, single-mass, and different building imagery. The texture and colour parameter are subtle textures with curved patterns, use of aluminium or concrete materials,and ivory white to bring out the buildings with the color of the sea.The symmetry of the form parameter shows a natural scale, a rectangular geometric shape that is subjected to addition or subtraction, and the proportion 2:1 between the envelope and open façade. The familiarity parameter is repetition of asymmetric curved patterns form make rhythm that raises perception of the visual aesthetic of the building.

UIN Walisongo merupakan salah satu universitas dengan pendirian fakultas-fakultas yang berlandaskan teori Islam.Yang dimana bangunan - bangunannya harus merepresentasikan Islam itu sendiri. Metode yang digunakan pada penulisan ini adalah metode deskriptif-komparatif. Penerapan penelitian komparatif dalam penulisan ini dengan cara membandingkan beberapa bangunan di UIN Walisongo, yaitu gedung Rektorat, Fakultas Ilmu Tarbiyah, dan Fakultas Ilmu Sosial dan Ilmu Politik. Digunakan enam variabel dalam menganalisa keterkaitan hubungannya. Variabel yang digunakan yaitu, ornamen, warna, fasad, dan bukaan. Hasil penelitian menemukan bahwa fasad merupakan penggabunganelemen bukaan utama yang dirancangvertikal.Hasil temuan bukaan terdapatdua jenis, yaitu bukaan jendela yang teratur menurut sumbu-sumbunya dari bawah keatas dan bukaan kaca dengan penutup menggunakan ornamen. Ornamen mengambil bentukdari logo UIN Walisongo yang berupa lengkungan runcing atau portal. Warna fasad menggunakan dominan warna hijau, putih, dan abu-abu.

Natural lighting is one aspect of ecological architecture to reduce energy use by utilizing sunli... more Natural lighting is one aspect of ecological architecture to reduce energy use by utilizing sunlight as the main lighting. However, direct and excessive sunlight decreases the comfort level of room users because it can increase room temperature and interfere with visualization. So it takes control of the distribution of the sun in the room. In addition, the issue of environmental damage has become hot news in the community today, especially in the property sector, such as using materials that can damage the surrounding environment. Efforts to regulate the entry of sunlight into the room but not harm the surrounding environment, one of which is the application of second skin that utilizes environmentally friendly materials. This paper aims to determine the form and material of secondary skin that is environmentally friendly and suitable for use in resort hotels. This research uses a qualitative comparative method based on three objects in the form of secondary skin in the hotel resort building: Ananta Legian Hotel Bali, EcoSuites (A Reed-Clad Hotel Greece), and Lenora Hotel Bandung with variables namely opening, shape, and shading. For three secondary skin material objects in the resort hotel building, namely Amnaya Resort Kuta, Four Points by Sheraton Bali, and Potato Heads Studio Hotel Bali, with variables namely shape, material, and aesthetics. Based on the results of the study, it was found that two types of second skin openings are applied to the hotel resort building, namely dead slots and sliding doors that are used to adjust the shape with the dominance of the modified rectangular base shape and the shadow produced from the second skin itself adapts to the function of the shaded space. Environmentally friendly materials used are made from nature, such as vegetation, wood, and roaster bricks that do not damage the surrounding environment; which is applied in a modified rectangular base shape and can improve the aesthetics of the building.

People in Indonesia in general only see that people understand architecture in a mosque only as a domed building or apply Middle Eastern elements only. However, many mosques in Indonesia have applied various Vernaculars to their architectural applications and experienced significant changes to the concept and form of the building. This study aims to find the application of Vernacular facades to 4 mosques in Indonesia, namely the Great Mosque of West Sumatra, the Sunan Ampel Mosque, the Great Mosque of Central Java, and the Grand Mosque of K.H. Hasyim Asyari. The method used is descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques based on journals and articles from the Internet and processed using tables in the form of variables with variables in the form of roofs and mosque wall ornaments. The results of this study are the application of vernacular roof architecture to the mosque in the form of modifications of the local form of each mosque that originates and the application of ornaments on the walls of the mosque which is an adaptation of the local architecture of the local area.

Masjid Raya Gorontalo merupakan masjid tingkat provinsi yang memiliki daya tampung sebanyak 10.00... more Masjid Raya Gorontalo merupakan masjid tingkat provinsi yang memiliki daya tampung sebanyak 10.000 jamaah. Dengan daya tampung serta fasilitas penunjangnya, dibutuhkan setidaknya bangunan dengan luas sekitar 9.800 m persegi. Sesuai dengan fungsi utamanya yaitu beribadah, pada ruang sholatnya diperlukan area yang luas dan akan sangat baik bila bebas kolom demi kenyamanan pemakainya. Maka dari itu dibutuhkan sistem struktur bebas kolom agar bisa menaungi ruang sholat tersebut. Diantara sistem struktur yang ada, yang dipilih adalah sistem struktur rangka ruang. Penulisan karya ilmiah ini dimaksudkan untuk merancang masjid yang menerapkan sistem struktur space truss yang sesuai untuk kebutuhan fungsinya. Metode yang digunakan dalam kajian ini adalah Metode kualitatif yaitu dengan mengumpulkan data-data dan teori ahli dari literatur dan metode programatik yang membahas dengan sistematis, rasional, dan analitik dengan cara menggambarkan, mendiagramkan, juga memvisualisasikan desain.. Tujuan yang ingin didapat dari penulisan ini adalah mendapatkan rancangan atap masjid yang sesuai dengan kapasitas, kebutuhan, dan fungsinya dengan menerapkan struktur rangka ruang. Masjid menggunakan rangka ruang dengan bentang terjauh 43 meter, material utama yang digunakan adalah baja hollow, dan sambungan yang dipakai adalah ball joint.

In some housing, there are indications of shape and use of space changes posthandover to local government. The aim of this study is to explore the relationship between public open space condition and management related to disaster mitigation in Tangerang housing estates. Multiple case study method is used to analyse of 2 housing cases. Aspects of access and boundaries were used to evaluate the cases. The results showed that gated community housing type should have more than 1 access to facilitate evacuation by considering the farthest unit to the housing gate. This is necessary to provide open spaces that are easily accessible from all units as the first evacuation site during and post disaster.

Konsep integrated saat ini sering digunakan pada bangunan-bangunan berkonsep Transit Oriented Dev... more Konsep integrated saat ini sering digunakan pada bangunan-bangunan berkonsep Transit Oriented Development untuk memberikan kemudahan mengakses moda transportasi dan bangunan terdekat. Hal ini juga harus didukung oleh kenyamanan agar masyarakat mau untuk menggunakan transportasi umum. Faktanya konsep integrated tidak hanya sekedar membangun jembatan penghubung dan memberikan akses menuju dua tempat. Tulisan ini menggunakan metode komparatif terhadap pembanding beberapa mixed-use di kawasan Blok M Plaza, BSD City dan PGC. Variabel yang diamati terdiri dari fungsi jembatan, peneduh, fasilitas, posisi moda transportasi dan integrasi antar bangunan. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa kriteria konsep integrasi bangunan memperhatikan Jembatan penghubung yang memiliki peneduhan untuk menghindari hujan dan panas, bangunan yang berorientasi pada moda transportasi, pembatas jalan yang ramah disabilitas dan menggunakan tanaman sebagai pagar alami. Arsitektur Melayu memiliki peran penting dalam pelestarian budaya Melayu Indonesia di Riau karena merupakan batas terluar Indonesia dengan negara Singapura dan Malaysia. Mayoritas hotel resort di Riau tidak memiliki karakteristik arsitektur melayu melainkan karakteristik bangunan yang lebih modern. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode tipologi yaitu dengan cara pengelompokan berdasarkan tipe atau elemen arsitektur melayu pada hotel resort dari konteks arsitektur tradisional Melayu Riau. Elemen yang diteliti terdiri dari muka bangunan (Fasad) Rumah Melayu adalah bumbung (atap), dinding, pintu dan tingkap (jendela) yang disetiap elemennya dikategorikan kembali sesuai dengan peletakan dan bentuk nya. Elemen yang mendominasi Arsitektur Melayu Riau pada atap berupa atap layar, pada dinding menggunakan kayu kaset, pada pintu berupa pintu kayu dua daun, pada jendela berupa jendela jejarak dan pada ornament berupa kaluk pakis dan lebang gantung pada lisplank dan ventilasi.

Kota Semarang dianggap mampu menjadi titik strategis atau gerbang yang menjadi pilihan masyarakat dari segi bisnis dan pariwisata. Sarana transportasi penting sebagai penghubung antar wilayah maupun negara. Bandar udara adalah salah satu bangunan publik yang dapat memperkenalkan karakteristik daerah sekaligus sebagai pintu gerbang kota dan wajah pertama kota. Bangunan bandara dapat dibuat menarik untuk memperlihatkan karakteristik daerah tersebut dari sisi modern dengan cara ekspresi struktur dan pengolahan cahaya. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif komparatif terhadap terhadap bandara internasional Kansai, bandara internasional Chhatrapati Shivaji dan bandara internasional Incheon.

This house is the unification of Nain (owner, ruler or supreme), Beala (ancestor), Lulik (sacred "nature and its contents"), Lisan (tradition "family or human life".). Uma Lulik in Fuiloro is built or renovated every 10 to 20 years depending on the lia nain and fatal building problems that occur in Uma Lulik, to serve as a bond between families. Uma Lulik remains a comfortable place for people to carry out rituals with their ancestors, those who are here and those who have gone. The purpose of this study was to find the architectural characteristics of uma lulik in the fuiloro tribe, Lospalos City. Interpretive history method is used by looking at interpreting past conditions with the present. The result showed that Uma lulik in Fuiloro tribe characteristic has a single stilt-shaped building as a place for sacral ceremonies and storage of sacred goods. The interior consists of kitchen and Labor Dato. The shape of the roof is pointed with 55° as high as + 7m-9m. This building has square floor plan + 3m x 3m or + 4m x 4m, rectangular wall + 3m x 4m, and column of 4 round wood arrangements as high as + 3m-4m. Materials consist of ulin wood (ai-bessi), rose wood (ainá), acadiro (ai-acadirum), bamboo (au-maus), palapeira/palapa (ai-car) and gamuteira/ gamuti (aunaulurir). Ornaments are woven long ropes and carvings. Structural systems are 'ikat' and portal systems.

Maka dari itu, gedung perpustakaan dan pusat kegiatan mahasiswa Universitas Indonesia dibangun dengan perancangan yang memiliki pendekatan Arsitektur Hijau. Dimana konsep tersebut digunakan untuk merespon sasaran stratejik Universitas Indonesia dalam membangun sarana dan Prasarana yang ekologis. Aspek ekologis bertujuan untuk meminimalisir dampak destruktif kegiatan manusia dengan lingkungan disekitarnya. Gedung perpustakaan dan pusat kegiatan Universitas Indonesia memiliki prinsipprinsip Arsitektur hijau yang dapat dikomparasikan dengan metode kualitatif. Dengan hasil analisa tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa Disimpulkan dari hal tersebut, Perpustakaan dan Pusat kegiatan mahasiswa Universitas Indonesia memiliki tujuan yang sama dalam perancangan bangunan, yaitu membuat bangunan dengan orientasi bangunan yang merespon eksisting tapak, ruang terbuka hijau yang difungsikan sebagai ruang luar aktif, serta penggunaan material yang ramah lingkungan, tahan lama dan kontekstual.

One of the historical buildings is Masjid Agung that is considered as Banten Lama Landmark refering to its nickname 'santri city'. This visual research aimed to identify Banten of 40 visitors of Banten Cultural Festival that randomly chosen. Quantitative analysis using the Osgood scale was used to obtain the landmark priority. The result shows that according to visitor's perception, Masjid Agung, Avalokitesvara Temple, and Surosowan Palace are the most suitable to be Banten Lama landmarks. The main reason for choosing these buildings and site as Banten Lama Landmarks is its intangible factor of pilgrimage place. Landmark through the visitors' perception by using 14 historical buildings and site as the objects studied. Most of their individual activities as well as communal activities are carried out on the water. This paper describes the use of communal space by people who reside on the water. The communal life of people on the river and by the bay in Banjarmasin and Pohuwatu will be portrayed to illustrate the living culture on the water. The goal is to provide the understanding of living culture that can be used as a reference to create a better living for people that live on the water.

Fire disaster occurs commonly in densely populated settlements mostly due to a large number of in... more Fire disaster occurs commonly in densely populated settlements mostly due to a large number of inhabitants. Among the various types of disasters, those related to fire outbreak, need to be avoided. Therefore, it is important to determine the building density, and street conditions, with the availability of fire extinguishers to prevent fire disaster mitigation. This research examined the risk of fire disaster based on building density in a dense settlement. The research was carried out in 9 village communities in Kali Anyar Sub-district, using the case study method. Aspects of total area, number of building units, and fire accidents location were used to evaluate the cases. The result showed that the rate of fire outbreak was not always related to the building density. However, physical arrangement related to fire risk in all building is necessary to minimize the possibility of its occurrence.

How this condition is regulated by the Indonesian government so that the community can live healthily and comfortably is a very crucial issue. Unfortunately, Indonesia has not had any sound environmental improvement since the regulation was enacted. Additionally, regulators and government officers who run the rule carelessly worsen the condition. This study aims to study how sound is regulated in Indonesia’s central and local governments, what types of sound or noise and levels are covered, and whether recent local regulations have been enacted to regulate sound in Indonesian cities. The study mainly uses quantitative, i.e., snowball or chain referral sampling techniques, to collect sound regulations applied in ten large and busy cities in Indonesia. Irresponsible noise management by the concerned authorities and society’s indifference has made n... more Irresponsible noise management by the concerned authorities and society’s indifference has made noise in Indonesian urban areas a nightmare. The current noise regulation in Indonesia, which define 55 dB(A) as the lowest permissible noise level generated in residential areas, is outdated. This study investigates how urban communities reacted to the implementation of this outdated regulation. Data was collected by searching online open sources for noise-related keywords used in public complaints, court cases, authority campaigns, etc. The collected data was then plotted in an Excel sheet to create a modest statistical trend, and the detailed information on how the government and court ruled the case was treated as a transcript to be analysed qualitatively. The study results are to be compared and discussed with noise facts of those in more advanced countries. Metode yang digunakan dalam kajian ini adalah Metode kualitatif yaitu dengan mengumpulkan data-data dan teori ahli dari literatur dan metode programatik yang membahas dengan sistematis, rasional, dan analitik dengan cara menggambarkan, mendiagramkan, juga memvisualisasikan desain.. Tujuan yang ingin didapat dari penulisan ini adalah mendapatkan rancangan atap masjid yang sesuai dengan kapasitas, kebutuhan, dan fungsinya dengan menerapkan struktur rangka ruang. Masjid menggunakan rangka ruang dengan bentang terjauh 43 meter, material utama yang digunakan adalah baja hollow, dan sambungan yang dipakai adalah ball joint.

In some housing, there are indications of shape and use of space changes posthandover to local government. The aim of this study is to explore the relationship between public open space condition and management related to disaster mitigation in Tangerang housing estates. Multiple case study method is used to analyse of 2 housing cases. Aspects of access and boundaries were used to evaluate the cases. The results showed that gated community housing type should have more than 1 access to facilitate evacuation by considering the farthest unit to the housing gate. This is necessary to provide open spaces that are easily accessible from all units as the first evacuation site during and post disaster.

Hal ini juga harus didukung oleh kenyamanan agar masyarakat mau untuk menggunakan transportasi umum. Faktanya konsep integrated tidak hanya sekedar membangun jembatan penghubung dan memberikan akses menuju dua tempat. Tulisan ini menggunakan metode komparatif terhadap pembanding beberapa mixed-use di kawasan Blok M Plaza, BSD City dan PGC. Variabel yang diamati terdiri dari fungsi jembatan, peneduh, fasilitas, posisi moda transportasi dan integrasi antar bangunan. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa kriteria konsep integrasi bangunan memperhatikan Jembatan penghubung yang memiliki peneduhan untuk menghindari hujan dan panas, bangunan yang berorientasi pada moda transportasi, pembatas jalan yang ramah disabilitas dan menggunakan tanaman sebagai pagar alami. Arsitektur Melayu memiliki peran penting dalam pelestarian budaya Melayu Indonesia di Riau karena merupakan batas terluar Indonesia dengan negara Singapura dan Malaysia. Mayoritas hotel resort di Riau tidak memiliki karakteristik arsitektur melayu melainkan karakteristik bangunan yang lebih modern. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode tipologi yaitu dengan cara pengelompokan berdasarkan tipe atau elemen arsitektur melayu pada hotel resort dari konteks arsitektur tradisional Melayu Riau. Elemen yang diteliti terdiri dari muka bangunan (Fasad) Rumah Melayu adalah bumbung (atap), dinding, pintu dan tingkap (jendela) yang disetiap elemennya dikategorikan kembali sesuai dengan peletakan dan bentuk nya. Elemen yang mendominasi Arsitektur Melayu Riau pada atap berupa atap layar, pada dinding menggunakan kayu kaset, pada pintu berupa pintu kayu dua daun, pada jendela berupa jendela jejarak dan pada ornament berupa kaluk pakis dan lebang gantung pada lisplank dan ventilasi.

This house is the unification of Nain (owner, ruler or supreme), Beala (ancestor), Lulik (sacred "nature and its contents"), Lisan (tradition "family or human life".). Uma Lulik in Fuiloro is built or renovated every 10 to 20 years depending on the lia nain and fatal building problems that occur in Uma Lulik, to serve as a bond between families. Uma Lulik remains a comfortable place for people to carry out rituals with their ancestors, those who are here and those who have gone. The purpose of this study was to find the architectural characteristics of uma lulik in the fuiloro tribe, Lospalos City. Interpretive history method is used by looking at interpreting past conditions with the present. The result showed that Uma lulik in Fuiloro tribe characteristic has a single stilt-shaped building as a place for sacral ceremonies and storage of sacred goods. The interior consists of kitchen and Labor Dato. The shape of the roof is pointed with 55° as high as + 7m-9m. This building has square floor plan + 3m x 3m or + 4m x 4m, rectangular wall + 3m x 4m, and column of 4 round wood arrangements as high as + 3m-4m. Materials consist of ulin wood (ai-bessi), rose wood (ainá), acadiro (ai-acadirum), bamboo (au-maus), palapeira/palapa (ai-car) and gamuteira/ gamuti (aunaulurir). Ornaments are woven long ropes and carvings. Structural systems are 'ikat' and portal systems.

Maka dari itu, gedung perpustakaan dan pusat kegiatan mahasiswa Universitas Indonesia dibangun dengan perancangan yang memiliki pendekatan Arsitektur Hijau. Dimana konsep tersebut digunakan untuk merespon sasaran stratejik Universitas Indonesia dalam membangun sarana dan Prasarana yang ekologis. Aspek ekologis bertujuan untuk meminimalisir dampak destruktif kegiatan manusia dengan lingkungan disekitarnya. Gedung perpustakaan dan pusat kegiatan Universitas Indonesia memiliki prinsipprinsip Arsitektur hijau yang dapat dikomparasikan dengan metode kualitatif. Dengan hasil analisa tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa Disimpulkan dari hal tersebut, Perpustakaan dan Pusat kegiatan mahasiswa Universitas Indonesia memiliki tujuan yang sama dalam perancangan bangunan, yaitu membuat bangunan dengan orientasi bangunan yang merespon eksisting tapak, ruang terbuka hijau yang difungsikan sebagai ruang luar aktif, serta penggunaan material yang ramah lingkungan, tahan lama dan kontekstual.

One of the historical buildings is Masjid Agung that is considered as Banten Lama Landmark refering to its nickname 'santri city'. This visual research aimed to identify Banten of 40 visitors of Banten Cultural Festival that randomly chosen. Quantitative analysis using the Osgood scale was used to obtain the landmark priority. The result shows that according to visitor's perception, Masjid Agung, Avalokitesvara Temple, and Surosowan Palace are the most suitable to be Banten Lama landmarks. The main reason for choosing these buildings and site as Banten Lama Landmarks is its intangible factor of pilgrimage place. Among the various types of disasters, those related to fire outbreak, need to be avoided. Therefore, it is important to determine the building density, and street conditions, with the availability of fire extinguishers to prevent fire disaster mitigation. This research examined the risk of fire disaster based on building density in a dense settlement. The research was carried out in 9 village communities in Kali Anyar Sub-district, using the case study method. Aspects of total area, number of building units, and fire accidents location were used to evaluate the cases. The result showed that the rate of fire outbreak was not always related to the building density. However, physical arrangement related to fire risk in all building is necessary to minimize the possibility of its occurrence.

This study aims to study how sound is regulated in Indonesia’s central and local governments, what types of sound or noise and levels are covered, and whether recent local regulations have been enacted to regulate sound in Indonesian cities. Irresponsible noise management by the concerned authorities and society’s indifference has made n... more Irresponsible noise management by the concerned authorities and society’s indifference has made noise in Indonesian urban areas a nightmare. The current noise regulation in Indonesia, which define 55 dB(A) as the lowest permissible noise level generated in residential areas, is outdated. This study investigates how urban communities reacted to the implementation of this outdated regulation. Data was collected by searching online open sources for noise-related keywords used in public complaints, court cases, authority campaigns, etc. The collected data was then plotted in an Excel sheet to create a modest statistical trend, and the detailed information on how the government and court ruled the case was treated as a transcript to be analysed qualitatively. The study results are to be compared and discussed with noise facts of those in more advanced countries.
