But it is argued that this decision ignored the recommendations of a number of previous reports on Tasmania's hospital system.

Community rooming house providers provide accommodation for some of the most disadvantaged members of society and the quality of that accommodation has increased significantly which has lead to decrease in housing stress.

Ho... more According to the World Health Organization (WHO) there is a global shortage of health workers. However, that shortage is not evenly distributed either across or within countries. This paper considers: undersupply, oversupply or mal-distribution of medical practitioners in Australia; trends in doctor numbers and general practitioner (GP) training in Australia; and evidence from overseas (primarily Canada).

T... more Back in August 2013 St Kilda Community Housing (SCH) organised a local forum on asylum seekers. The speakers were: Robyn Ormerod from the Asylum Seeker Program at Lentara UnitingCare, Stephanie Mendis from Jesuit Social Services and Pamela Curr from the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre. The forum was chaired by Lindsay Rae from World Vision. Each of the speakers told of the desperate housing conditions many asylum seekers were living in once they had been released into the community.

One reason is less access to primary health care services due to a lock of GPs. Current policies won't translate to more rural and remote GPs for several more years and will pose more challenges.
