The advancement of AI technologies has occurred at diverse rates, with Africa lagging behind Europe. Moreover, the imminent economic consequences of demographic shifts require a more careful examination of immigration patterns, with Africa emerging as a viable labor pool for European countries. However, within these dynamics, questions are raised about the differences in AI proficiency between African immigrants and Europeans by 2050. This paper examines demographic trends and AI developments to unravel insights into the multifaceted challenges and opportunities that lie ahead in the realms of technology, the economy, and society as we look ahead to 2050.

Research paper thumbnail of Organizational knowledge heterogeneity: Between conceptual nuances and the quest for a measure

It... more This paper is a survey of relevant empirical literature pertaining to knowledge heterogeneity. Its purpose focuses on highlighting issues surrounding its definition and measurement. First, it shows that knowledge heterogeneity is definitionally close to several other concepts, each measured in a certain way. Second, the same measures have been used indiscriminately for several of these concepts. Third, different measures have been used for the same concepts. The point being made is that comparable empirical results cannot be achieved if the same measures are used for different concepts. Research in knowledge management and innovation management centered around knowledge heterogeneity could be impeded if different emphases are put on different words while studying a concept that is defined similarly across studies yet measured differently, or that is measured similarly despite being defined differently. Results in future research are more likely to converge if knowledge heterogeneity...

ABSTRACT As the reach of the internet expands to cover ever broader aspects of our economic and s... more ABSTRACT As the reach of the internet expands to cover ever broader aspects of our economic and social welfare, cyber security is emerging as a major concern for researchers and practitioners, dealing as it does with privacy, confidentiality, user authentication, etc. E-learning systems epitomize computing systems and networks of the internet generation, since they involve multiple stakeholders, geographically distributed resources and data, and special requirements for confidentiality, authentication, and privacy. In this paper, we illustrate a rigorous cyber security measure of dependability to quantify security threats which is the Mean Failure Cost for E-learning systems. The proposed infrastructure, allows an analyst to estimate the security of a system in terms of the loss that each stakeholder stands to sustain as a result of security breakdowns. In addition, we have extended its formula to measure the critical security requirements. Our focus is to offer a diagnostic of possible problems of the non secure systems and a depth insight interpretation about critical requirements, critical threats and critical components regarding the cyber system. This extension is beneficial and opens a wide range of possibilities for further economics based analysis. The theoretical aspects, the practical case study and the deep of interpretation developed in this paper offer strengths guidelines in the science of cyber security in our modern society.

Knowledge being all at the same time decentralized and distributed, knowing up to what point knowledge can be heterogeneous or homogeneous across organizational units becomes as important as the question of knowing how to structure the organization. SNA applied to knowledge management thus seems a stimulant for future research in the fields of management.

This is more acute in countries where bandwidth is limited and fees are high. Given bandwidth limitations, Web pages are often hard to accelerate. Predictive feedback information is assumed to distort Internet users’ perception of time, making them more tolerant of low speed. This paper explores the relationship between actual Web page loading delay and perceived Web page loading delay and two aspects of user satisfaction: the Internet user’s satisfaction with the Web page loading delay and satisfaction with the Web page displayed. It also investigates whether predictive feedback information can alter Internet user’s perception of time. The results show that, though related, perceived time and actual time differ slightly in their effect on satisfaction. In this case, it is the perception of time that counts. The results also show that the predictive feedback informati...

Much IS research has been conducted on factors that either facilitate or inhibit the adoption of IT. While several studies have focused on the cultural aspects of IT adoption, the nature of the significant cultural factors in IT adoption are not completely understood. Furthermore, current models do not always include culture as a variable, and often these models cannot be fully adapted to the Arab world. In this research we highlight some Arab traits that are not currently grasped in existing models. The possibility of culture actually diverging rather than converging may compromise efforts to explore the cultural underpinnings of IT adoption; in light of this, we suggest ways that existing models and theories can be strengthened to better explain the delay of IT adoption in Arab countries.

Using the declarative, procedural and judgmental dimensions of organizational memory, interaction effects were detected between IT and organizational memory. Analyses of the data support the view that storage technologies interact with declarative memory contributing to reduce organizational information needs. But, contrary to expectations, storage technologies interact negatively with declarative memory on information provision. Furthermore, network technologies interact negatively with judgmental memory on information provision. These results raise issues that have been rarely encountered in the literature.

According to the model, there should be a degree of fit between development project uncertainty and the strategy for determining information requirements, ranging from accepting initial requirements statements to experimenting with prototypes to discover requirements. This study introduced a new IRD strategy construct that focused on the extent of interaction between users and developers. The study also differentiated between perceptual and evidential outcomes, between process and product outcomes, and between users' and developers' points of view. The hypotheses predicted that the degree of fit between project uncertainty and the IRD strategy would account for perceptual and evidential project outcomes from both the user's and developer's points of view. Results indicated that only by relying on the new extent of interaction construct, was ...
