The study focuses on the accidental meeting between Will and Louisa which makes them fall in love but they do not end up together. Their love does not make Will egoistic to go away and not to change his decision to end his life. It takes an analysis on psychological egoism and ethical egoism. Additionally, the analysis is concerned with the two characteristics of deutragonist's egoism before and after the accident. This study used a qualitative method to find evidence from the data identified from the novel. The analysis is done by classifying the data related to the research problem. The results of this study indicate that Will's egoism cannot be imitated, and it is not accepted in an environment such as committing suicide. The obstacles and struggles of the second character are found to fulfill his needs which are also related to the love story in the novel.

There are four different levels of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs discussed: security and safety needs, social needs, and esteem needs. Maslow's hierarchy of needs is often displayed as a pyramid. The lowest levels of the pyramid of needs are made up of the most basic needs, while the most complex needs are at the top. Once lower-level needs have been met, people can move on to the next level of needs. The researchers identify the characteristics of Reysa as the protagonist in Seribu Musim Merinduimu and analyze her fulfillment of love and belonging needs. Methods: The study of local wisdoms and cultural values for the development of regional character building in the North Tapanuli, Central Tapanuli, Toba Samosir, Humbang Hasundutan and Samosir regencies was made on the basis of anthropolinguistic analysis. Components of performance, indexicality, and participation can be considered effective in the assessment to text, cotext and context of local wisdoms. Findings: Local wisdoms of Toba Batak try to reach some values, such as, trustworthy, polite and respectful, honest, promoting togetherness and convention, tolerant and harmonious, responsible and committed, caring, and grateful. These local people are hoped to have the following characteristics: hard working, dilligent, disciplinary, mutually assisting, and environmental caring. These are called working ethics. Therefore, Toba Batak has eight cultural values, for instance, paradaton ‘being a custom’, partuturon 'kinship', parsaoran dalihan natolu ‘interaction of three customary parties”, tanda habatahon ‘marders of Bataknese identity', hagabeon ‘posterity and long life’, hamoraon ‘welfare’, hasangapon 'honor', and haporseaon ‘faith, belief”. These values produced eight auxiliary values: maradat 'customary, civilized’, martutur 'being involved in kinship', parsaor ‘friendly; interactive to the three customary parties’, marhabatahon 'being identified as Batakness marker', marroha hagabeon 'being hopeful of long life and good posterity', marhamoraon 'hopeful of being welfare’, marhasangapon 'hopeful of honor', and marhaporseaon ‘having good faith’. Improvements/Application: Materials in this article shall determine some polite components of local wisdoms that can be used for the ongoing development of character building in the regencies so that local goverments build infrasctructure from inner hearts.

Jefri Pratama was the second defendant who participated in the planning and assisted in the execution of a heinous murder. The aim of this study was to identify the characteristics of SMS, and to examine the deictic expressions and the impositives and commissives of tact and generosity maxims under the perspective of the politeness principle. Data for this study were gathered from April 2019 to August 2020 through electronic observation of 24 cases sent by s to h's personal phone number at different times and dates. Descriptive analysis was applied to understand the contents of SMS. The results of the research were corroborated with a few dimensions of information that the SMS texts promised money ranging from Rp. 100 to 175 millions. The web page addresses were fake and the senders' names were not written. In case of person deixis, the second person singular "you" appears explicitly and implicitly. All of the web page addresses were considered psychologically spatial deixis and the temporal deixis of time and day exist. The illocutionary goal is not competitive (a), so the politeness becomes a positive character. The SMS texts are convivial (b), meaning that the illocutionary goal coincides with the social goal, for instance greeting and congratulating, but not inviting or thanking. The goal sounds great because it consists of courtesy or politeness, but the linguistic behaviour does not follow such a goal. The SMS threatens domestic politeness, and the unification for life sustainability could be disturbed. The SMS texts present bad implications for politeness in Indonesia and contribute a negative paradigm for national unification sustainability. The study suggests the importance of selection processs capability by the SMS provider in an organizational context.

This article talks about the former. Cruse (2000) proposes five models, which have been successful in English, in extending meanings, i.e., (1) Literal and non-literal meaning, (2) Naturalized, established, and nonce extensions, (3) Metaphor, (4) Metonymy, and (5) Semantic change. The five models have been applied in Bahasa Indonesia (BI for short) and the results of the research show that the application of the extensions of meaning in BI are successful in some cases; however, in some other cases, it is difficult to find out the supporting data.
