Research paper thumbnail of Flexible microchannels with integrated nanoporous membranes for filtration and separation of molecules and particles

Technical Digest. MEMS 2002 IEEE International Conference. Fifteenth IEEE International Conference on Micro Electro Mechanical Systems (Cat. No.02CH37266), 2000

A layer transfer and lamination technique is used to fabricate flexible microchannels from spin-on polyimide. The microfluidic channels can be operated at high pressures and flow rates without leakage. Nanopores are created in the polyimide channel walls by irradiation with swift heavy ions

Research paper thumbnail of Continuous sampling and analysis by on-chip liquid/solid chromatography

Sensors and Actuators B: Chemical, 2007

Chromatographic separations of phenolic test solutions as well as of vitamins are illustrating the ability and versatility of the system. The dependence of the peak height and width with respect to the injected plug and the saturation limits of the microchip column have been investigated and good correlation to the theoretical predictions have been observed.
