Emot ional Intelligence (EI) is generally defined as the ability to control one's own and other's... more Emot ional Intelligence (EI) is generally defined as the ability to control one's own and other's emotion under a particular situation. Using theory of EI, this study examines the influence of demographic background on Emotional Intelligence among accounting students in a private university. The demographic background focused in the study is categorised into personal factors (gender, ethnicity, region of origin and hometown location), family factors (family inco me, parents' employment and parents' level of education) and academic factors (year of degree, academic performance, type of secondary school and prio r education level). The data is collected during lecture sessions through a self-ad ministered questionnaire. The study found that family income, year of degree and prior education level show significant influence on the level of EI among the accounting students. However, further analysis prevails that only year of degree and family inco me able to exp lain the variation of EI.

The main objective of this study is to explore the level of awareness and adoption of cloud compu... more The main objective of this study is to explore the level of awareness and adoption of cloud computing among the small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Malaysia. Using accounting practitioners-both in the audit and commercial fields-as the sample, this study investigates as to whether they are aware of this emerging technology, the extent they utilize the technology, and the reasons for (non) adoption. The finding suggests that two-third of the respondents are not aware of cloud computing. The level of adoption is limited to several applications, namely Google Apps Engine and Dropbox. Cost and time saving were cited as the reasons for adoption, while lack of perceived benefits and security were cited as the most important drivers for nonadoption. Though 30% of the respondents claim to be familiar with cloud computing, but only 7% confirm they are very knowledgeable about it. Considering the benefits that cloud computing could offer to businesses, this development urges for more engagement from the government and cloud computing service providers to further promote this technology to the SMEs.

The rapid development of technology had impacted the way businesses communicate information to th... more The rapid development of technology had impacted the way businesses communicate information to the stakeholders. eXtensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL) offers the ability to exchange financial information globally through a digitalized global standard language. To reduce information asymmetry, most studies on XBRL were carried out emphasizing on the reasons for the new technology adoption and intention for implementation, but studies on XBRL implications or effectiveness are still scarce. Expected to improve firm information dissemination, the post-implementation studies give more focus on the data quality and usage, but still no attempt to examine the effect of XBRL adoption on the quality of another means for information sharing, the internet financial reporting. Hence, this study aims to evaluate the differences (if any) in the quality of internet financial reporting of companies operating in the XBRL-mandated countries and companies operating in non-XBRL mandated countries.

It is now being utilised for the payment of zakat. Therefore, this research aims to gauge the awareness of an e-zakat online system in the Selangor and also to examine the extent of utilisation of an online e-zakat among individual zakat payers using the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) model. Although the model was reviewed by the prominent researchers, but, it still has a limited resource to explore the usefulness of using e-zakat online system. The primary data collection was carried out through a questionnaire survey. The questionnaire was distributed to the academicians in the Klang Valley. The results provide an intellectual challenge and contribute to knowledge in this area of user perceptions of IT utilisation and provide indispensable evidence of the necessity of improving the awareness and utilization of e-zakat online.

Nu mbers of incidents pertaining data errors, system breach, violat ion of internal control and m... more Nu mbers of incidents pertaining data errors, system breach, violat ion of internal control and man ipulation of financial information had raised the organization attention and concern. Organizat ions are consequently more aware of the security and integrity issues in regards of the co mputerized accounting system and the need to take appropriate action. Th is research is to investigate the security threats issues in computerized accounting system in Malaysian public services. Through questionnaires to 500 CAIS user in the Jabatan Akauntan Negara Malaysia (Accountant General Depart ment), the study findings show the users perception of the current state of threats faced by the system. Though most of the listed threats are perceived to be rarely happen, but there are group of people indicates those incidents still taken place. Hence, this empirical evidence may enable the public services department to evaluate their computerized accounting system security, and begin to properly pursue effective strategies to improve quality and lo wer the risk o f incidents.
