Biography of Dr M P Srivastava, FNASc, FPSI, MBSPP (UK), MDPG (Germany)
Prof. M P Srivastava, born in 1942, in village Gaura kalan, Varanasi, had his primary education in Varanasi and higher education in Allahabad. He worked under Prof Tandon for his MSc on Foliar diseases(1960-62), and PhD on post-harvest diseases(1962-66). The outcome have been published in leading journals Current science, Experientia (Switzerland), Plant Disease Reporter (USA), PANS(UK), Z fur Pflanzfnkrankheiten, etc
.In March 1967 he joined Bihar Agr College Sabour but after few months he joined Haryana Agricultural University in 1967 held and served as Rice/cotton Pathologist, Extension Plant Pathologist, Professor, Head Plant Pathology, and Director Planning till 2002.
He is considered an architect of Extension Plant Pathology, who gave new dimension by strengthening diagnostic & advisory, laying foundation of Plant clinic and remembered for his contribution and innovative periodicals -- Plant Disease Warning & Plant Pathology Courier. He is known worldwide for his contribution in technology transfer and plant clinic.
He has played a pivotal role in creation and popularization of plant clinic by delivering invited lectures in India, China, New Zealand, Singapore, Italy, Germany, and Las Vegas, USA and has urged participating nations towards creation of well-organized clinics modeled on human clinics. He has the distinction of organizing and chairing an ‘Evening Session on Plant Health Clinic’ in 9th International Congress of Plant Pathology (ICPP) 9thICPP2008 in Italy. He also presented an invited keynote Address on ’Plant clinics hold key to food security besides organizing the Key note Session-5 in 10thICPP2013 at Beijing and subsequently in International conference at Hyderabad 2014 and Las Vegas (USA) 2015 . He also presented a paper in Cape Town (S. Africa) in June 2016.

He is legend, who has been invited twice by International Congress of Plant Pathology to deliver two keynote addresses in 2003 and 2013 and organizing an Evening Session in 2008 on Plant Health Clinic, at Turin, Italy and organizing Keynote session in 2013. He was a special invitee in XVIII International Plant Protection Congress 2015 Berlin to chair a Session on Technology Transfer and Plant Health Clinic and to deliver a Keynote Address. He has chaired a panel discussion on Plant Clinic during International Conference organized by Indian Plant Pathological Society in2011 and 2016.
He is recipient of several honors and awards, which include ‘Fellowship of The National Academy of Sciences’ in 1988, ‘Best Extension National Award’ 1996, Keynote speaker in 8th ICPP, New Zealand in 2003, and invited speaker on Knowledge transfer in 10th ICPP, 2013 at Beijing, Dr Radhakrishnan Award 2013, International Technological Achievement Award on 9th February 2014, Life-time Achievement Award/National Pride Award, Dr APJ Kalam Gold Medal Award 2015 and in Feb 2016 IPS Recognition Award in view of his services in society towards food security .
He has been President of Indian Society of Plant Pathologists, Chief Editor, Indian Journal of Plant Pathology, Fellow of National Academy of Sciences and Member Pesticide Panel of DST, GOI, and Technical Advisor of Pestology, Member British society for plant Pathology and German Phytomedical Society among others. Asian PGPR has honored him with Honorary life Membership. He has also appeared many a times on satellite channel to conduct panel discussion. He has also. Coordinated and anchored a week long SATCOME programme on Integrated Rural development, broadcasted from Delhi earth station employing INSAT 2A. His key areas of interest are: Technology transfer, Food Security/Plant health clinic, integrated pest management and fungicides. He has guided a dozen students for PhD on diverse areas including biological control of Parthenium. He has published over185 papers, 300 popular articles a dozen of Reviews and six booklets. Currently he is offering online diagnosis and remedies against pest, and advice on establishment of plant clinics through his web portal www.xsgrowth.com at zero cost.
