Microelectronic system has power demand in the µW range, and therefore, indoor photovoltaics would be appropriate for micro-energy harvesting appliances. “Energy harvesting is defined as the transfer process by which energy source is acquired from the ambient energy, stored in energy storage element and powered to the target systems”. The theory of energy harvesting is: gathering energy from surroundings and offering technological solutions such as solar energy harvesting, wind energy collection and vibration energy harvesting. “The solar cell or photovoltaic cell (PV), is a device that converts light into electric current using the photoelectric effect”. Factors such as light source, temperature, circuit connection, light intensity, angle and height can manipulate the functio...

The photovoltaic (PV) power generation has low efficiency due to the various factors. This paper gives a new method to enhance the performance of the PV system. Solar panel is directly connected to the multilevel inverter (MLI) so as to improve the efficiency. MLI is used in high power medium voltage converter to reduce the harmonic component which is present in the output due to the filter. In the proposed MLI there are 3-H bridge inverters to achieve 7-level output voltage. The inverter produces seven level output voltage: +3V, +2V, +V, 0,-V,-2V and-3V. Microcontroller unit (MCU) is used to produce control signals for the gate of MOSFET of MLI.

Photovoltaic module has dynamic characteristics with respect to irradiance and temperature. To extract maximum power from PV module maximum power point tracking algorithms are used. These algorithms are trained according to dynamic characteristics of PV module. Array of Photovoltaic modules has distinct behavior than a single PV module under partial shading condition. PV array characteristics has multiple peaks under partial shading condition and maximum power point algorithms are need to trained to find peak with maximum power. Examination of PV array characteristics under normal irradiance and under partial shading is essential to extract maximum power from PV array. This paper explores various traits of Photovoltaic array under partial shading condition and proposes a model to select region on array characteristics for tracking global maximum power point.

Solar energy is a paramount renewable energy source to gratify ever increasing energy demand. Photovoltaic (PV) system converts the solar energy into electricity. Efficiency of PV system is a focal concern for maximum utilization of solar energy and non linear characteristics of PV system is a major snag for it. Maximum power point tracing (MPPT) algorithms track the maximum power point (MPP) on non linear characteristics to transfer maximum power to the load. Non uniform irradiance on PV panels of PV array is termed as a partial shading condition. Under Partial shading condition non liner characteristics of PV array has many MPPs and one of them is global MPP (GMPP). Under partial shading condition tracking of GMPP is necessary to transfer maximum power to the load. Strategies used to track MPP under uniform irradiance are trapped at local MPP and thus inept to track GMPP. Power tran...

The efficiency of the proposed Neuro-Fuzzy controller is enhanced by an evolutionary algorithm. Here, an enhanced hill climbing algorithm is used for optimizing the PV array current and the respective output power. The converter output depends on the values of current, voltage, and power of the system. In conventional hill climbing search algorithm, the current and power values are optimized based on the random search at different time instant. But, in the enhanced hill climbing search algorithm, the power and current values are optimized based on the change of values. So, the searching time of the algorithm is reduced compared to conventional search algorithm. Then, the output of the search algorithm is applied to the neuro-fuzzy controller. The proposed Neuro-Fuzzy controller is a hybrid controller, which is the combination of artificial neural network and fuzzy...

In this paper, we are interested in optimizing the delay of event-driven wireless sensor networks... more In this paper, we are interested in optimizing the delay of event-driven wireless sensor networks, for which events does not occur frequently. In such systems, most of the energy is consumed when the radios are on, waiting for an arrival to occur. Sleep-wake scheduling is an effective mechanism to prolong the lifetime of this energy constrained wireless sensor networks by optimization of the delay in the network but this scheme could result in substantial delays because a transmitting node needs to wait for its next-hop relay node to wake up. An attempt has been made to reduce these delays by developing new method of packet forwarding schemes, where each nod opportunistically forwards a packet to the its neighboring node that wakes up among multiple candidate nodes. In this paper, the focus is to study how to optimize the packet forwarding schemes by optimization of the expected packet-delivery delays from the sensor nodes to the sink. Based on optimized delay scheme result, we then...
