Fine-needle aspiration (FNA) is the primary diagnostic methodology used for thyroid nodule evaluation. Presence of ultrasonographic future suggestive of nonbenign thyroid nodules may consider a way to decide which nodules should be sampled and subsequently, reduce the unnecessary biopsies. Of note up to one third of fine needle aspiration biopsies may be non-diagnostic, requiring open surgical biopsy for diagnosis. The current study aimed to correlate the ultrasonographic findings of thyroid nodule with malignancy. Methods: Retrospective cohort study was performed at King Salman Armed Forced Hospital to evaluate ultrasonographic finding in relation to cytology and histopathology. Result: Cytology results in relation to ultrasound finding show that malignancy was associated with larger nodule size, nodules containing intranoduler blood supply as well as irregular nodular...

The term "encephalitis" literally means inflammation of part or all of the "brain" or the brain parenchyma. Encephalitis affects people of all ages; however, the incidence is higher in the pediatric population. Although both genders are affected, most studies showed slight dominance in men. There are two main types with different causes: primary or infectious encephalitis can develop when a fungus, virus, or bacteria infects the brain and accounts for approximately 70% of confirmed cases of encephalitis, and secondary or post-infectious encephalitis when the immune system is active and reacts. to a previous infection and mistakenly attacks the brain. The clinical manifestations depend on whether the brain parenchyma or the meninges are predominantly involved and cause an encephalitic or meningitis syndrome. Diagnostic tests should include a lu...

Terlipressin versus norepinephrine in the treatment of type 1 hepatorenal syndrome: a review

It is a fatal complication of advanced cirrhosis with ascites and liver failure, with nearly 50% of the patients dying within 2 weeks after the onset. While terlipressin is expensive and not widely available, it is recognized as an effective treatment for HRS. Noradrenaline could be an efficient substitute. This is a systematic review that was carried out, including PubMed, Google Scholar, and EBSCO databases, which examined randomized trials of norepinephrine and terlipressin in the treatment of HRS to summarize the major RCTs that compare terlipressin versus norepinephrine in the treatment of type 1 HRS (HRS-). This review included six randomized studies that compared norepinephrine and terlipressin in the treatment of HRS-1. The findings show that two treatments had the same HRS reversal rate and the difference in efficacy in treating HRS-1. This review concludes that there is no difference in the efficacy of norepinephrine and terlipressin in the treatment of HRS-1. Norepinephrine is found to be effective and as safe as terlipressin. It is less expensive, widely available in many countries, and could be used as an alternative to terlipressin in the management of HRS-1.

However, the efficacy of such a combination is unknown. The current review aimed to assess the effects of T4-T3 combination therapy on quality of life. Aims The current review aimed to compare levothyroxine monotherapy versus T4-T3 combination therapy on quality of life among hypothyroid patients.

Thus, an important but often overlooked outcome is the assessment of the impact of surgery on mental health. This is an important outcome measure because it can contribute to a patient's concept of overall well-being. Although British Columbia has an edge in managing obesity, psychosocial and behavioral factors can influence postoperative outcomes. According to some authors, mental illness severe enough to require treatment may be a negative predictor of surgical outcome. This review reviews the literature on the impact of liposuction surgery on the psychological functioning of patients with obesity. Most studies have shown that people with obesity, especially those requiring surgery, report significantly worse quality of life. This may be due to impaired physical and psychosocial functioning, discrimination and psychiatric consequences, or ...
