Dental education involves both academic and clinical understanding of subjects included in the curriculum. The study aims to determine the success of a system that could achieve the desired learning outcomes. METHODOLOGY: In this cross-sectional study 229 BDS students at five different dental colleges affiliated with the University of Health Sciences, Lahore responded to a predesigned structured questionnaire regarding the prosthodontic subject. Feedback on the Perception of students regarding prosthodontics as a subject was asked from BDS final year regular batch, before their university final exam. RESULTS: Most students found prosthodontics an interesting subject (82%). On enquiring about the level of difficulty of prosthodontics compared to other dental clinical subjects, 56.9% of students responded negatively. The majority were satisfied with the content (79.1%), delivery, and...

Methodology: A cross-sectional survey study was conducted. A self-administered questionnaire was distributed among 500 dentists across Pakistan as a google form through electronic media. The questionnaire had three sections. First two sections had details about purpose of study and demographic details respectively. In the third section knowledge, attitude and practice of the participants were assessed. Knowledge and attitude were scored. Level of knowledge and attitude towards use of RBBs was correlated with other variables. Significance of factors related to RBB success was evaluated as percentages. Results: A total of 162 males (78%) and 128 females (63.1%) had adequate knowledge. Overall, 303 (75.2%) participants were inclined to use the RBB while only 100 (24.8%) were not in the favor of using this treatment. 286 participants (71...

The multitude of teaching methodologies in the dental curriculum has been incorporated to determine learning outcomes. Objective: This study aimed to found the perception of BDS second-year students toward the subject of dental materials and evaluate the difficulty in learning and acquisition of concepts in this preclinical year. Methods: This cross sectional study was conducted among 130 students of BDS second year registered with University of Health Sciences, Lahore. Pre-designed questionnaire was used as research tool to determine the students’ perceptions towards teaching methodologies and understanding of dental Materials. Results: Only 53.7% of the students reported DM as an interesting subject. Satisfaction with content was 90% and delivery and pace of the lectures were reported at 79.3%. Majority of the student (86.8%) reported lecture ma...

Hence, study aimed to evaluate impact of removable acrylic dentures on OHRQoL of patients and assess influence of sociodemographic variables on OHRQoL. Methods and Material: A cross-sectional study with purposive sampling strategy was used to collect data from denture wearing patients presenting in prosthodontics department of dental teaching hospital of Lahore. A translated version of OHIP-14 (Oral Health Impact Profile) was employed. Mann-Whitney test was used to find association between variables (gender, age, missing teeth, type of denture, denture wearing time) and OHIP-14 items. ANOVA and T-test was performed to evaluate associate between OHIP-14 domain mean and variables. Results: 206 patients were included in the study. OHIP prevalence was 61.2%, whereas OHIP Score was 19.17 ± 10.1. Most af...

Its desirable properties like high pH, sites specify and anti-inflammatory response makes it a future material in place acid etching pre-treatment. Acid etching may cause sensitivity and collapse of dentinal matrix. Methods: This in-vitro study involved, 60 caries free extracted premolars, randomly divided into three groups. Control Group (Group A) No pre-treatment of dentin prior adhesive application. Experimental Group B acid etchant was applied before adhesive application. Experimental Group C Papacarie was used as a pre-treatment agent. All these specimens were tested for shear bond strength with the help of Universal Testing Machine. All the collected data was entered in SPSS version 20.0. ANOVA was used to determine the mean SBS (Shear Bond strength) values of control and experimental groups. Results The mean shear bond strength of materia...
