BACKGROUND Obtaining adequate hemostasis is of utmost importance during surgery to improve the su... more BACKGROUND Obtaining adequate hemostasis is of utmost importance during surgery to improve the surgical field. AIMS AND OBJECTIVES The objective of this study is to determine the hemodynamic and haemostatic effects of same concentration of epinephrine with or without local anesthetic used during the functional endoscopic sinus surgery. MATERIAL METHODS In prospective, randomized study was undertaken on sixty healthy patients. Group A received 8-10ml of epinephrine 1:200,000 with Lidocaine and Group B received 8-10ml of epinephrine 1:200,000 with normal saline. RESULTS In our study we found a statistically significant increase in SBP, DBP, MAP, HR from baseline value in group B with the value reaching a peak at around 5 min and then the parameters start normalizing towards baseline over several minutes. Whereas in case of group A patients, there was no significant changes in baseline values excepting a mild decrease in all parameters including SBP, DBP, MAP and HR. CONCLUSIONS The quality of surgical field was comparable in both groups without any significant differences. Addition of lignocaine to the epinephrine attenuates the cardiovascular side effects of epinephrine without affecting the visualization of the surgical field.

The growth of the number of NGOs shows that their importance, influence, representativeness and participation in the international community is essential since they can establish a link between states and society.With their actions and performance they are able to fill in the gaps left by the modern state in the representation of society’s aspirations. Relying on a theoretical framework, this article presents an explanation about NGOs and their status in international law, in order to allow for a reflection on their impact on the conclusion of international treaties, through the analysis of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, the Mine-Ban Convention and the Rome Statute.

This article presents an analysis of the tale Negrinha by Monteiro Lobato, first published in 192... more This article presents an analysis of the tale Negrinha by Monteiro Lobato, first published in 1920 in a storybook of the same name. In this analysis, we establish a relation between Law, more precisely the transformation of family relationships and the fundamental rights inscribed in the article 227 of the Federal Constitution, Literature and Culture, explaining and exemplifying the theme with a literary text. The proposition of the subject is based on the understanding that the mobility of cultural processes acts on the way society regulates, manages and represents, in its rules of social behavior, issues related to the identity of individuals and its bonds. In this regard the tale written by Lobato denounces the violation of human and fundamental rights expressed in the article above, which assume relevance both legal and social as well as cultural, considering that it is the duty of the state, the family and society protect and support the minor. Contratos de adesão aparecem como uma demanda deste mundo econômico e globalizado, pois eles podem fornecer uma maior uniformidade, rapidez, e ciência e dinamismo às relações contratuais. A economia comportamental assume que os consumidores sofrem de limitações cognitivas no processamento de informações. Diante do exposto e com embasamento teórico, os vieses cognitivos que influenciam as escolhas do consumidor que celebra um contrato de adesão serão estudados sob o ponto de vista do direito e economia comportamental.

Consumer relations are strongly influenced by the market economy, which can be seen as a reflecti... more Consumer relations are strongly influenced by the market economy, which can be seen as a reflection of the globalization faced by contemporary society. Standard form contracts appear as a demand of this economic and globalized world, since they can provide greater uniformity, rapidity, efficiency and dynamism to contractual relations. Behavioral economics assumes that consumers suffer from cognitive limitations in processing information. Considering this and relying on a theoretical framework, the biases that influence the choices of a consumer who concludes a standard form will be studied from the point of view of Behavioral law and economics.
