Juxtaarticular giant cell tumors of the lower end radius are common and is a challenge for reconstruction after tumor excision. Several reconstructive procedures like vascularized and non-vascularized fibular graft, osteoarticular allograft, ceramic prosthesis, and megapros thesis are in use for substitution of the defect in the distal radius following resection. Here, we have analyzed the results of aggressive benign Giant cell tumor of the distal radius treated by en bloc excision and reconstruction using autogenous non-vascularized fibular graft along with brachytherapy. Material and Methods: Eleven patients with either Campanacci Grade II or III histologically proven giant cell tumors of lower end radius were treated with en bloc excision and reconstruction with ipsilateral non-vascularized proximal fibular autograft. Host graft junction was fixed with low contact dynamic compression pl...

There is a paucity of standardised clinical predictive tools available for the initial assessment and risk stratification of patients with LGIB. We propose a simple clinical scoring model to prognosticate patients at risk of severe LGIB and an algorithm to guide management of such patients. Methods A retrospective cohort study was conducted, identifying consecutive patients admitted to our institution for LGIB over a 1-year period. Baseline demographics, clinical parameters at initial presentation and treatment interventions were recorded. Multivariate logistic regression was performed to identify factors predictive of severe LGIB. A clinical management algorithm was developed to discriminate between patients requiring admission, and to guide endoscopic, angiographic and/or surgical intervention. Results 226/649 (34.8%) p...

Pre-prints though not peer-reviewed offer the advantage of rapid dissemination of new findings. In this study, we aim to systematically compare the article characteristics, time to retraction, social media attention, citations, and reasons for retraction between retracted pre-print and peer-reviewed articles on COVID-19.MethodsWe utilized the Retraction Watch database to identify retracted articles on COVID-19 published from 1st January 2020 to 10th March 2022. The articles were reviewed and metadata such as article characteristics (type, category), time to retraction, reasons for retraction, and Altmetric Attention Score (AAS) and citation count were collected.ResultsWe identified 40 retracted pre-prints and 143 retracted peer-reviewed articles. The median (IQR) retraction time for pre-print and peer-reviewed article...

It seeks to explain how and why The Tribune was started, what gave impulse to the thought of publishing it, what were its aims and ideals, how they were realized and what were its guiding principles which were cherished, nourished and sustained.

The issues highlight by The Tribune from staring to its end is also given as this is clearly described that the first issue of The Tribune, which came out on February 2, 1881, took up the explanation for modern education in Punjab through the medium of English. With several efforts led by newspaper the battle was won at the end. The Tribune took up all the public causes, and its voice was taken note of. It is aforesaid that one Lt. Governor of Punjab advised a delegation meeting him to ventilate their grievances through the columns of The Tribune. British civilians of Punjab felt therefore sad on telling their compatriots that the province was being ruled by the Lt. Governor and The Tribune.

METHODS: An analysis was performed on a prospective database of 633 consecutive patients with rectal cancer who underwent surgical resection. Patients were compared in three groups: Open surgery (OP), laparoscopic surgery, and converted laparoscopic surgery. Short-term outcomes, long-term outcomes, and survival analysis were compared. RESULTS: Among 633 patients studied, 200 patients had successful laparoscopic resections with a conversion rate of 11.1% (25 out of 225). Factors predictive of survival on univariate analysis include the laparoscopic approach (P = 0.016), together with factors such as age, ASA status, stage of disease, tumor grade, presence of perineural invasion and vascular emboli, circumferential resection margin < 2 mm, and postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy. The survival benefit of laparoscopic surgery was no longer significant on multivariate
