The integration of information technologies has markedly augmented the efficacy of digital enterprise, ushering in novel prospects and shaping innovative business paradigms. Nonetheless, adopting information technology is concomitant with risks, notably concerning safeguarding personal data. This substantiates the significance of research within the domain of artificial intelligence for e-commerce, with particular emphasis on the realm of recommender systems. This paper is dedicated to the discourse surrounding the construction of information technology tailored for processing textual descriptions pertaining to commodities within the e-commerce landscape. Through a qualitative analysis, we elucidate factors that mitigate the risks inherent in unauthorized data access. The cardinal insight discerned is that the apt utilization of product matching technologies empowers the formulation of recommendations devoid of entailing customers' personal data or vendors' proprietary information. A meticulously devised structural model of this information technology is proffered, delineating the principal functional components essential for processing textual data found within electronic trading platforms. Central to our exposition is the exploration of the product comparison predicated on textual depictions. The resolution of this challenge stands to enhance the efficiency of product searches and facilitate product juxtaposition and categorization. The prospective implementation of the propounded information technology, either in its entirety or through its constituent elements, augurs well for sellers, enabling them to improve a pricing strategy and heightened responsiveness to market sales trends. Concurrently, it streamlines the procurement journey for buyers by expediting the identification of requisite goods within the intricate milieu of e-commerce platforms.

Government legislation, investor and stakeholder expectations, as well as international voluntary... more Government legislation, investor and stakeholder expectations, as well as international voluntary initiatives have all contributed to the rising demand for high-quality information and reporting on sustainability issues. The scientific community exploring sustainability issues is expanding quickly, and the need for sustainability data has grown significantly in recent years. Sustainability reporting is a fast developing topic with many different monitoring and reporting frameworks, some criteria that overlap, and problems with worldwide consistency. This frequently causes uncertainty on how data and information should be used to produce useful results and science-based resources. The paper ascertains current trends in monitoring and reporting sustainability-related information, including a particular analysis for each relevant level (i.e. country and corporate). The study commences with an updated review of sustainability reporting literature followed by an emphasis on the well-known instruments (i.e. SDGs index and the International Spillover index) used to monitor and report the nations progress toward SDGs. Also, the connections among different international approaches/initiatives for increasing the accountability of companies for sustainability actions were analysed and the improvements were emphasized. Although the worldwide reporting seems to be led by the adoption of the GRI and SASB standards, the range of metrics and disclosure patterns is wide and displays a high variation across industries, sectors, sizes, complexity and location. Through a structured analysis, the paper argued international initiatives (i.e. European Sustainability Reporting Standards and IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards) are of valuable importance for counteracting the fragmentation of available sustainability information and assuring the alignment and interoperability between different sustainability information.

Due to the digital nature of e-commerce, one actual item can be sold on various e-commerce platforms, which leads to the exponential growth of the number of propositions. At the same time, the title and description of this item might differ. All these facts make more complicated for customers the process of searching on online platforms and change business approaches to the development of competitive strategy by e-commerce companies. The research question is how we can apply a machine learning algorithm to detect, based on the product information such as title and description, whether the items are actually relevant to the same product. In the presented paper, we offer an overview of the influence of research factors on voter turnou... more In the presented paper, we offer an overview of the influence of research factors on voter turnout. Factors can be divided into several main categories law, political, cultural, social and psychological. In addition to the relatively broad theoretical basis, new factors have been recently discovered, the impact of which has been undervalued and research almost absent. One such factor is the weather, whose impact on voter turnout has begun to be explored mainly after 2000. This research has mainly focused on the negative impact of precipitation on voter turnout, while the (extreme) temperatures and other meteorological elements remain unexplored. One of the methods of investigation in this issue is, besides correlation analyzes, the method of the ratiocartodiagrams.

The main purpose of the research study was to identify and analyse the use of marketing communication tools in tourism in accommodation facilities in the Czech Republic during the COVID-19 pandemic. This paper adds to the existing literature by offering a better understanding of the link between the effectiveness of marketing communication tools within the marketing strategy and the financial losses of the hotel sector. As part of the research, a total of 140 controlled, structured interviews were conducted with managers of selected accommodation facilities, in which the scope and primary forms of use of marketing communication tools during the COVID-19 pandemic were investigated. The global COVID-19 pandemic in 2020-2021 resulted in the most significant disruption to school a... more The global COVID-19 pandemic in 2020-2021 resulted in the most significant disruption to school attendance in the history of humanity. Subsequent anti-pandemic caregivers demanded a shift to distance learning from kindergartens to higher education. Slovakia was one of the European Union countries with the most extended closed schools-28 weeks. The main aim of the research was to analyze the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on education in the Slovak Republic by teaching civic and financial literacy in secondary schools in 2020-2021. In the form of in-depth interviews with selected teachers, the authors analyzed the actual state of education during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Among other things, the research showed that Slovakia was not prepared for the distance form of teaching. As a result, some children were educated in the form of self-study, some online, others combined, and some were not educated at all. Teachers used different didactic aids in online teaching; the competent state institutions published online textbooks only with hindsight. The global pandemic thus demonstrated shortcomings in the digitization of regional education. In the paper, the authors offer solutions for the future.

Since 1989, daily press in Slovakia has been characterised by dynamic development, reflected, bes... more Since 1989, daily press in Slovakia has been characterised by dynamic development, reflected, besides others, in a number of systemic changes, ownership relationships, typology, contents, circulations, readership, prices, advertising volumes or the number of dailies. Over the last years, the development of daily newspapers has been affected not only by legislation and economic impact (business environment, effects of the financial crisis, purchasing power of population, etc.) but also revolution in social habits of people resulting from the development of information and communications technology. The main objective of the research study is to analyse trends on the Slovak daily newspaper market between 2000 and 2014, focusing on analysing the development of the number of national dailies, their average price and advertising volume as independent variables and their overall single average circulation as a dependent variable and finding relationships between selected variables.

The research study offers an analysis of public opinion of citizens of the Slovak Republic focuse... more The research study offers an analysis of public opinion of citizens of the Slovak Republic focused on trust in politics and politicians, while the authors try to look for possibilities of increasing the political participation of Slovaks. Among other things, the analysis of public opinion showed that citizens of the Slovak Republic are not active in political participation. Most of the polled Slovaks do not try to influence politics other than by participating in elections, with only a third of those polled actively participating in the elections. Demanded citizens are not satisfied with the current state of the political scene in Slovakia, as well as with the current investigation of political cases. Research has also shown that Slovaks would be willing to participate in elections on a regular basis in cases where ordinary people care about politicians or if politicians are honest and reliable people who deliver on promises, (such as no-policy politics.

The main research objective of the study presented in this article was to analyse the scope and m... more The main research objective of the study presented in this article was to analyse the scope and main forms of management of marketing activities in the local government in the Slovak Republic. The study has found that the management of marketing activities is still not usual in the local government in the Slovak Republic. Marketing is coordinated rather in cities than in villages, but there are still some cities that do not consider marketing to be important at all. Marketing activities at the office are mostly carried out by one employee while only a few cities or villages can afford to have more staff to carry out them. The main reason why cities and villages do not carry out marketing activities is the lack of financial resources or the need to deal with more serious problems. In conclusion, the author emphasizes the need to discuss the objectives and tasks of local marketing.

Marketing sa v posledných rokoch etabloval vo verejnej správe na Slovensku, či už na úrovni štátn... more Marketing sa v posledných rokoch etabloval vo verejnej správe na Slovensku, či už na úrovni štátnej správy, respektíve samosprávy. V príspevku sa zameriavame predovšetkým na uplatňovanie marketingu miest a regiónov v územnej samospráve. Cieľom analýzy je zistiť implementáciu marketingových aktivít v krajských mestách v Slovenskej republike. Zo zistení vyplynulo, že marketing je využívaný vo všetkých krajských mestách na Slovensku, avšak v rôznej forme, rozsahu a s odlišnou zodpovednosťou. Ďalej poukazujeme na diskrepantné chápanie marketingovej komunikácie v jednotlivých mestách vzhľadom k tomu, že na mestských úradoch je diferentný počet pracovísk s heterogénnou zodpovednosťou v rámci organizačnej štruktúry. V závere zdôrazňujeme potrebu diskusie o cieľoch a úlohách aktivít mestského a regionálneho marketingu. Kľúčové slová samospráva, marketing, implementácia Annotation Marketing has in recent years established itself in public administration in Slovakia, whether at state level, or local government level respectively. This paper mainly focuses on the application of marketing to cities and regions in local government. The objective of the analysis is to assess the implementation of marketing activities in regional towns in the Slovak Republic. The findings showed that marketing is used in all regional cities in Slovakia, but in a different form, scale and with different levels of responsibilities. Furthermore, we will point out the discrepancies and inconsistencies of understanding marketing communication in different towns due to the fact that the number of local authorities vary from town to town; the number of departments and the level of responsibilities within the organizational structure too differ. In conclusion, we emphasize the need to discuss the objectives and tasks of the activities of urban and regional marketing.

During such commercial period as of today, however, the mass media prefers the entertaining function, while minimizing, or even eliminating, the informative, canvassing, cultural and educative functions, thus fails to realize its public role for the society. Most media, today, from news to advertising, rely on spectacle, simplification and exaggeration to grab and hold audiences. Much of the current media is beset by idealization and demonization in which media manipulators depict themselves and their allies as heroes and saints, and their opponents or targets as villains, fools and disturbed characters, both to create exciting stories and win battles. What is missing is precisely the information, which would discredit the system and result in reforms that would lock out many of those who now work to maintain the system solely for their own benefit.

The global COVID-19 pandemic in 2020-2021 resulted in the most significant disruption to school a... more The global COVID-19 pandemic in 2020-2021 resulted in the most significant disruption to school attendance in the history of humanity. Subsequent anti-pandemic caregivers demanded a shift to distance learning from kindergartens to higher education. Slovakia was one of the European Union countries with the most extended closed schools-28 weeks. The main aim of the research was to analyze the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on education in the Slovak Republic by teaching civic and financial literacy in secondary schools in 2020-2021. In the form of in-depth interviews with selected teachers, the authors analyzed the actual state of education during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Among other things, the research showed that Slovakia was not prepared for the distance form of teaching. As a result, some children were educated in the form of self-study, some online, others combined, and some were not educated at all. Teachers used different didactic aids in online teaching; the competent state institutions published online textbooks only with hindsight. The global pandemic thus demonstrated shortcomings in the digitization of regional education. In the paper, the authors offer solutions for the future.

Since 1989, daily press in Slovakia has been characterised by dynamic development, reflected, bes... more Since 1989, daily press in Slovakia has been characterised by dynamic development, reflected, besides others, in a number of systemic changes, ownership relationships, typology, contents, circulations, readership, prices, advertising volumes or the number of dailies. Over the last years, the development of daily newspapers has been affected not only by legislation and economic impact (business environment, effects of the financial crisis, purchasing power of population, etc.) but also revolution in social habits of people resulting from the development of information and communications technology. The main objective of the research study is to analyse trends on the Slovak daily newspaper market between 2000 and 2014, focusing on analysing the development of the number of national dailies, their average price and advertising volume as independent variables and their overall single average circulation as a dependent variable and finding relationships between selected variables.

The research study offers an analysis of public opinion of citizens of the Slovak Republic focuse... more The research study offers an analysis of public opinion of citizens of the Slovak Republic focused on trust in politics and politicians, while the authors try to look for possibilities of increasing the political participation of Slovaks. Among other things, the analysis of public opinion showed that citizens of the Slovak Republic are not active in political participation. Most of the polled Slovaks do not try to influence politics other than by participating in elections, with only a third of those polled actively participating in the elections. Demanded citizens are not satisfied with the current state of the political scene in Slovakia, as well as with the current investigation of political cases. Research has also shown that Slovaks would be willing to participate in elections on a regular basis in cases where ordinary people care about politicians or if politicians are honest and reliable people who deliver on promises, (such as no-policy politics.

The main research objective of the study presented in this article was to analyse the scope and m... more The main research objective of the study presented in this article was to analyse the scope and main forms of management of marketing activities in the local government in the Slovak Republic. The study has found that the management of marketing activities is still not usual in the local government in the Slovak Republic. Marketing is coordinated rather in cities than in villages, but there are still some cities that do not consider marketing to be important at all. Marketing activities at the office are mostly carried out by one employee while only a few cities or villages can afford to have more staff to carry out them. The main reason why cities and villages do not carry out marketing activities is the lack of financial resources or the need to deal with more serious problems. In conclusion, the author emphasizes the need to discuss the objectives and tasks of local marketing.

Marketing sa v posledných rokoch etabloval vo verejnej správe na Slovensku, či už na úrovni štátn... more Marketing sa v posledných rokoch etabloval vo verejnej správe na Slovensku, či už na úrovni štátnej správy, respektíve samosprávy. V príspevku sa zameriavame predovšetkým na uplatňovanie marketingu miest a regiónov v územnej samospráve. Cieľom analýzy je zistiť implementáciu marketingových aktivít v krajských mestách v Slovenskej republike. Zo zistení vyplynulo, že marketing je využívaný vo všetkých krajských mestách na Slovensku, avšak v rôznej forme, rozsahu a s odlišnou zodpovednosťou. Ďalej poukazujeme na diskrepantné chápanie marketingovej komunikácie v jednotlivých mestách vzhľadom k tomu, že na mestských úradoch je diferentný počet pracovísk s heterogénnou zodpovednosťou v rámci organizačnej štruktúry. V závere zdôrazňujeme potrebu diskusie o cieľoch a úlohách aktivít mestského a regionálneho marketingu. Kľúčové slová samospráva, marketing, implementácia Annotation Marketing has in recent years established itself in public administration in Slovakia, whether at state level, or local government level respectively. This paper mainly focuses on the application of marketing to cities and regions in local government. The objective of the analysis is to assess the implementation of marketing activities in regional towns in the Slovak Republic. The findings showed that marketing is used in all regional cities in Slovakia, but in a different form, scale and with different levels of responsibilities. Furthermore, we will point out the discrepancies and inconsistencies of understanding marketing communication in different towns due to the fact that the number of local authorities vary from town to town; the number of departments and the level of responsibilities within the organizational structure too differ. In conclusion, we emphasize the need to discuss the objectives and tasks of the activities of urban and regional marketing.

During such commercial period as of today, however, the mass media prefers the entertaining function, while minimizing, or even eliminating, the informative, canvassing, cultural and educative functions, thus fails to realize its public role for the society. Most media, today, from news to advertising, rely on spectacle, simplification and exaggeration to grab and hold audiences. Much of the current media is beset by idealization and demonization in which media manipulators depict themselves and their allies as heroes and saints, and their opponents or targets as villains, fools and disturbed characters, both to create exciting stories and win battles. What is missing is precisely the information, which would discredit the system and result in reforms that would lock out many of those who now work to maintain the system solely for their own benefit.
