In this brief presentation, we aim to introduce St. Thomas Aquinas's perspective on the human per... more In this brief presentation, we aim to introduce St. Thomas Aquinas's perspective on the human person and their intrinsic dignity as Imago Dei. Through the Scholastic system, we can trace a consistent line of thinking from the inception of philosophy to the present day. Furthermore, we can observe modern interpretations of St. Thomas Aquinas that remain relevant today. The value of each human person is intricately linked to their relationship with Being.

In every human being, there is a desire to know the origin and value of their own life. In the pa... more In every human being, there is a desire to know the origin and value of their own life. In the past few years, I have been studying anthropology and found that many of the concepts and definitions of Chinese philosophy come from the West, and "dignity of the person" is no exception. Even though the origin of the name "Person" is simple and universal, it contains a meaning that is deep and mysterious. It is because the root of "Person" is "Imago Dei," coming to the existence from God (the source of being), so even if we start to discuss and study "Person" from different perspectives, we will reach the same answer, that each "Person" shares a beautiful side that is to be the Imago Dei. The hope to be back to the concept of "dignity of the human person" will help today's Taiwanese society to establish and affirm a culture of goodness and help each person receive the dignity they deserve.
