This work studied the dynamics of land use and soil cover in two traditional communities from the Alto Rio Pardo region: Agua Boa 2 and Vereda Funda, with various possible outcomes. In Agua Boa 2 community, agricultural activities have remained spatially stable over the period from1985 to 2008. The greatest change of land use and soil cover happens in Mata de Galeria, Carrasco and Cerrado sentido restrito environments. The rough topography and the mobilization of the Agua Boa 2 community members against the establishment of eucalyptus companies in this area prevented the occupation with this species in the whole area. In Vereda Funda Community, the planting of eucalyptus were made in flat areas (chapadas). With the reduction of the activities of reforestation, about 51 % of the areas were in process of natural regeneration, 15 % is covered by exotic weed and 31 % remains c...
