The surface of dental implants is an important factor for osseointegration process and different ... more The surface of dental implants is an important factor for osseointegration process and different methods of surface treatment have been described. Objective: To investigate the bone apposition in implant surface treated with sandblasting and acid-etching.Material and methods: Ten rabbits were selected and received one implant treated with method I in the left tibia and one implant treated with method II in the right tibia. Then, twenty implants were divided in two groups, according to methods of sandblasting and acid-etching (method I and method II). After 7, 14, 30, 45 and 60 days, tibias were retrieved and submitted to histotechnical procedures. The percentages of bone–implant contact (BIC) and bone area between threads (BABT) were determined throughout histomorphometric analysis and bone apposition was detected in implants of both groups. Neste texto procuramos mostrar que, embora a prova em Matematica seja de grande importância, a fo... more Neste texto procuramos mostrar que, embora a prova em Matematica seja de grande importância, a forma segundo a qual ela tem se reproduzido, sobretudo quando se trata de ensino, deve ser revista. Procuramos destacar a importância do uso de figuras na inducao do raciocinio formal e a facilidade que o uso de softwares educacionais pode oferecer quando se tem interesse no fortalecimento da compreensao de resultados. Procuramos tambem mostrar que o uso de softwares pode, e em geral consegue, instigar os estudantes, abrindo perspectivas de investigacoes e busca de resultados que sao induzidos pelas construcoes dinâmicas. Nao fazemos a apologia da nao-demonstracao, mas destacamos a importância do convencimento, ainda que de maneira informal.

No presente trabalho e simulado um problema de escoamento de fluido em uma contracao abrupta, que... more No presente trabalho e simulado um problema de escoamento de fluido em uma contracao abrupta, que e muito comum na geometria de brocas de perfuracao de pocos de petroleo. O fluido simulado e newtoniano e incompressivel e foi feita a simulacao de duas geometrias diferentes, um quarto de um tubo e uma fatia dessa geometria. E utilizada a metodologia dos volumes finitos para resolver as equacoes diferenciais na forma de equacoes algebricas. O software utilizado para a realizacao do trabalho foi o OpenFOAM , que e vantajoso por ser um software livre e codigo aberto. Por fim, sao apresentados resultados atraves de imagem em escala de cores e tambem da comparacao das curvas de velocidade para as duas malhas, e e avaliado a viabilidade da ferramenta Wedge do software OpenFOAM .

Uma estimativa para o COP e a perda de calor no dispositivo de resfriamento termoeletrico tambem sao apresentados para diferentes configuracoes. As temperaturas foram medidas por sensores digitais que se apresentam em diferentes configuracoes por meio de uma fonte de alimentacao variavel.

São inicialmente discutidas as principais características da sociedade contemporânea, sob a ótica de sua condição líquida e pós-disciplinar, bem como suas implicações para as relações humanas e para a educação linguística na contemporaneidade. Entre outras, as noções de translingualismo restritivo e expansivo são mobilizadas para embasar refl exões sobre o caráter político-ideológico das práticas translíngues e argumentar que, em sua vertente transformativa, a translinguagem pode assumir tonalidade póshumana e pós-colonial e evidenciar-se como um potente recurso para a promoção de práticas (educativas) mais democratizadoras.

The method is a computational cheap alternative to represent the boundaries of a geometrically complex body, while using a cartesian mesh, by adding a force term in the momentum equation. The advantage of this is that bodies of any arbitrary shape can be added without grid restructuring, a procedure which is often time-consuming. Furthermore, multiple bodies may be simulated, and relative motion of those bodies may be accomplished at reasonable computational cost. The numerical platform in development has a parallel distributed-memory implementation to solve the Navier-Stokes equations. The Finite Volume Method is used in the spatial discretization where the diffusive terms are approximated by the central difference method. The present work describes the development of a parallel distributed-memory implementation, of an... more The present work describes the development of a parallel distributed-memory implementation, of an octree data structure, linked to an adaptive cartesian mesh to solve the Navier-Stokes equations. The finite volume method was used in the spatial discretization where the advective and diffusive terms were approximated by the central differences method. The temporal discretization was accomplished using the Adams-Bashforth method. The velocity-pressure coupling is done using the fractional-step method of two steps. Moreover, all simulated results were obtained using a external solver for the Poisson equation, from the pressure correction, in the fractional step method. Results are presented both for adaptive octree mesh and for a mesh without refinement. These were determined in the verification and validation processes for the present computational code. Finally, we consider the simulations for the problems of a laminar jet and the lid-driven cavity flow. Numerical results are compared with numerical and experimental data.

The HRS (High Resolution Stereoscopic) instrument carried on SPOT 5 enables quasi-simultaneous ac... more The HRS (High Resolution Stereoscopic) instrument carried on SPOT 5 enables quasi-simultaneous acquisition of stereoscopic images on wide segments-120 km wide-with two forward and backward-looking telescopes observing the Earth with an angle of 20° ahead and behind the vertical. For 8 years IGN (Institut Géographique National) has been developing techniques to achieve spatiotriangulation of these images. During this time the capacities of bundle adjustment of SPOT 5-HRS spatial images have largely improved. Today a global single block composed of about 20,000 images can be computed in reasonable calculation time. The progression was achieved step by step: first computed blocks were only composed of 40 images, then bigger blocks were computed. Finally only one global block is now computed. In the same time calculation tools have improved: for example the adjustment of 2,000 images of North Africa takes about 2 minutes whereas 8 hours were needed two years ago. To reach such a result a new independent software was developed to compute fast and efficient bundle adjustments. In the same time equipment-GCPs (Ground Control Points) and tie points-and techniques have also evolved over the last 10 years. Studies were made to get recommendations about the equipment in order to make an accurate single block. Tie points can now be quickly and automatically computed with SURF (Speeded Up Robust Features) techniques. Today the updated equipment is composed of about 500 GCPs and studies show that the ideal configuration is around 100 tie points by square degree. With such an equipment, the location of the global HRS block becomes a few meters accurate whereas non adjusted images are only 15m accurate. This paper will describe the methods used in IGN Espace to compute a global single block composed of almost 20,000 HRS images, 500 GCPs and several million of tie points in reasonable calculation time. Many advantages can be found to use such a block. Because the global block is unique it becomes easier to manage the historic and the different evolutions of the computations (new images, new GCPs or tie points). The location is now unique and consequently coherent all around the world, avoiding steps and artifacts on the borders of DSMs (Digital Surface Models) and OrthoImages historically calculated from different blocks. No extrapolation far from GCPs in the limits of images is done anymore. Using the global block as a reference will allow new images from other sources to be easily located on this reference.

The aim of this work is to characterize Portuguese public organizations regarding the budget obta... more The aim of this work is to characterize Portuguese public organizations regarding the budget obtained between the years 2005 and 2008 using ratios based on budget indicators. The source of the information is the Portuguese mainland, Madeira and Azores Islands public organizations. It is also intend to develop a solution that will support decision making. The data exploration implementation will be done with Self-Organizing Map (SOM) method used in for reducing dimensionality and that allow an easier visualization by grouping organizations with similar behaviors. SOM, also known as Kohonen Map (Kohonen, T., 2001) is a computational method for analysis and visualization of large data sets. Data for this study were provided by DGO and is composed by variables that exist in accounting, also called ratios. Using SOM it is expected to classify the organizations through their budget information and, subsequently, predicting the future behavior of these organizations. Initially this study will be based on data regarding the year 2005 being applied to the years 2006, 2007 and 2008.

Apresentam-se ao longo deste artigo os conceitos e noções principais acerca da filiação, de socioafetividade, do reconhecimento de filhos e do dever de prestar alimentos a fim de situar o objeto de estudo no Direito de Família. Conclui-se acerca da possibilidade de manutenção de uma paternidade socioafetiva frente ao reconhecimento da paternidade biológica com efeitos exclusivamente alimentares-a chamada paternidade alimentar. Tal possibilidade, todavia, se trata de exceção, limitando-se às hipóteses em que o pai socioafetivo não tiver condições econômicas de prover o sustento de seu filho.

The data exploration implementation will be done with Self-Organizing Map (SOM) method used in for reducing dimensionality and that allow an easier visualization by grouping organizations with similar behaviors. SOM, also known as Kohonen Map (Kohonen, T., 2001) is a computational method for analysis and visualization of large data sets. Data for this study were provided by DGO and is composed by variables that exist in accounting, also called ratios. Using SOM it is expected to classify the organizations through their budget information and, subsequently, predicting the future behavior of these organizations. Initially this study will be based on data regarding the year 2005 being applied to the years 2006, 2007 and 2008.

Apresentam-se ao longo deste artigo os conceitos e noções principais acerca da filiação, de socioafetividade, do reconhecimento de filhos e do dever de prestar alimentos a fim de situar o objeto de estudo no Direito de Família. Conclui-se acerca da possibilidade de manutenção de uma paternidade socioafetiva frente ao reconhecimento da paternidade biológica com efeitos exclusivamente alimentares-a chamada paternidade alimentar. Tal possibilidade, todavia, se trata de exceção, limitando-se às hipóteses em que o pai socioafetivo não tiver condições econômicas de prover o sustento de seu filho.
